I had to start carrying a flashlight for work 19 years ago. It quickly became something I just always kept on me. Flashlights have come a long way in the past couple of decades. But still an essential part of my carry. I like this series. Thanks bud.
Just bought a ThruNite Saber, thanks to your video. But Olight is awesome because of their products, prices, selections, innovations. Thanks for sharing JB!
I was required to carry a flashlight at work 40 years ago they issued a very cheap defective light so I started looking for a better option and down the rabbit hole I went at my job a good flashlight was a matter of life or death thanks for sharing JB
For over a year now, every day I carry two lights. An i3E EOS on my keys, and the carbon fiber i5R EOS that you gave to me👍Love both of them. My vehicle light is just a DeWalt work light that runs on my 20v tool batteries, and bedside I keep a 1100 lumen Thrunite. Great video, buddy!
I had a Harbor Freight light in my instrument pack for coming out of the woods if I got caught out after dark. It was slightly better than nothing. I got a better one, but not a whole lot better. I tried a couple more until I discovered Olight through a UA-cam video on the IMini. One has been on my keyring ever since. It led me to a series of pocket-sized Olights until the Baton 4 Premium with the charging case came out. It's in the pouch every day.
I'd have to say my favorite Olight is the I3t. I have other, more expensive Olights, but the I3t is the one I carry and use the most. I have the Olight keychain lights, but I rarely use them to light my way. I got the I3t 2 eos for free by redeeming my O-coins. I like the i5t and R, but again, because they are slightly larger, I usually skip those and go for an 18650 or 21700 size flashlight, usually by Wurkkos in their tactical series. The i3E is also a very decent AAA that I have a dozen or so of because that's usually the free flashlight 🔦 Olight gives away when they do their sales
For me it's the streamlight microstream 90 percent of the time. An i3 periodically substitutes for it. Single AAA tail switch, pocket clip is my ideal edc light. Great video brother 👍
Hello, J.B. May I suggest an episode on which steels/blade shapes work best for which materials and conditions? I also carry my iR2 on my keyring and forget to include it in Pocket Checks.
Good stuff. I'm not often outdoors and such but have some lights that are a bit big for EDC if not a bit small for truly outdoors. I like the Brinyte HC01 headlamp for my bag as my "backup" light. I also have been EDC'ing the HC18 light that can be both a pocket flashlight and a headlamp with the holder and headband (mainly if I am biking somewhere then get caught out later at night, so I have a stronger headlamp). I like the Olight Arkfeld for more "polite" environments where other styles of flashlight feel too "tactical"
Good video JB. I carry a THX on my keychain. I have a few i3e around my house. I used a i3t for a while on my nightstand until I got a Baton 3 Pro. I really like the mount that came with it. On the side of my nightstand. Thanks for sharing.
@@BigRedEDC You're welcome my friend. This is just my personal opinion but I believe you are the best knife tuber on UA-cam. Engaging, generous, knowledgable and most of all humble. Thank you JB.
Great stuff. I also went down the flashlight rabbit hole with the same exact freebie from Olight. Turns out it is like a crack dealer giving out free samples. I am hooked now. I am an Olight fanboy and pretty much feel the same way about the I3 and I5 series. Next step I need to get the rechargeable version of the I5. Also want to get a light from another company too. Love this space. Great to see you break away from reviews and share your thoughts on topics like this. Brav-freaking-o.
thats a nice collection brotha jb , i like high lumens myself here n tactical with lock-out mostly , but rechargebles are so much easier n cheaper in the long run too , you keep em coming , thanks >tom !
You can get it here but I have never dealt with this site. www.brightlumenshop.com/products/brinyte-pt18pro-oathkeeper-led-flashlight?srsltid=AfmBOoodOSxz4SU7k6dBY-XzwPNGgLf2itf-CPss5cH9hfoM82R9SNDq
I’ve worn out the switches on two Olight flashlights… they just don’t hold up for heavy use and I don’t see that their warranty covers normal use. I have two others that are just used around the house and camping and work fine. But very disappointed with heavy work usage; their switches just wear out and freak out. To not function as they did out of the box; so much that you don’t even now what lite function will come on or at all even!
@@BigRedEDC When I’ve read in their warranty, it does not cover normal wear and tear and I use the flashlight constantly during every seven day shift and the switches just have worn out!! So much so like I mentioned, you don’t even know what you’ll get when you hit the button sometimes, on two of their flashlights that I paid for and have not been happy with after let’s say at least 12 months worth of use!

Cool lights. Olight i3TEOS and RovyVon A1 are my goto. My pew has a light too.
Very good Rusty! Thanks my friend
I started with those but have really steered towards the baton 3's and similar sizes.
I have a couple Batons that get carried a little bit the i3 and i5 are my go to

@@BigRedEDC JB, what is the model of that Brinyte tactical flashlight you showed toward the end of this video?
@DavidBurge-xf8zx the one I showed is the PT18 Oathkeeper. I cannot find it in stock anywhere

The PT16A is similar in function and is 3000 lumens but more expensive as well. Here's a link: amzn.to/3XcPsA7
