Emmanuel, you do a great job of chronically Liberias rich history. Next time however don’t forget to mention that this Tubman farm was in Totota, Bong County, right off the main highway from Monrovia to Ganta and that it contained a famous restaurant known as the Coco Nest. This farm was also profiled in Ebony magazine. It’s however very sad that Liberians allow their great historical legacy to just rot. This could easily be turned into a National Park that tourist can visit from all over the world if the government only had the Will to do so. Liberia is in a Equatorial😅 Rain Forest that still contains rare animal and plants found nowhere else in the World. By bringing in experts from the African countries who know how to turn national parks into Safari game reserves and Americans experts who know how to turn old Presidential homes and old buildings into tourist attractions, Liberia can become one of Africas major tourist destinations. But to allow all the great buildings built during the Tubman era, to just fade and rot away, is a disgrace. Is it superstition that make Liberians abandon their historical legacy? Why is Palm Grove Cemetery, rotting to dust as we speak? Had not President Weah decided to renovate the Executive Mansion after 16 years of neglect it too would have been rotting to dust. If Weah is re-elected one of his greatest legacy could be putting Liberians to work on preserving their rich heritage and turning the country into a great tourist destination, instead of a destination for foreign investors to plunder the small nations limited resources for their own benefit!
Yes and no. Liberia does not need other African country's interference in our history. And Liberia doesn't need the Americans to do any planning here. I am a Liberian looking forward to doing the best I can in this domain. I can assure you that there are Liberians quiet achievers who are looking for proper security in our country for serious investments to take effect. We all have to chip in one or the other.
This should be a lesson for current generation. Liberians only live for the moment we are all about quick pocket change. Let’s try and teach our children this thing called generational wealth and how to maintain and keep family homes or properties in the family.
Emmanuel thanks for exploring and educating us on our beloved country. please be very mindful of your health and protect ur yourself by wearing a mask as you enter very old abandoned buildings. you don’t know what you’re breathing into your lungs. thanks again for the wonderful tours of Liberia. ❤
Watching a video from Namibia 🇳🇦 ,I was one of the United Nation peace keeping member in 2004 in Liberia 🇱🇷 and it's very shameful for Liberian government to neglecting their rich historical buildings
Hey Emmanuel, thank you so much for bringing some of these untold stories of Liberia. The HOSTORICAL Building/ Homes of the former presidents of Liberia, is it possible for you to share their before pictures to your Viewers? Just a thought! Once again, thanks for what you do 🙏
My friend this is the result of living of the government. His children do not have the money or will to renovate these houses. They are here in America begging. Just watch after Weah leaves office his houses will end in similar conditions.
It takes a lot of money, these families are large and live in the US, especially post Tolbert assassination and later the war. Some kids, but mostly grandkids, would be expensive projects to restore to its full glory.
War is a terrable thing to happen in a nation. I'm sure this beautiful place would still been there had it not being for the war.😢 Our little sweet and beautiful Liberia was destroyed beyon repair. I was born and raised in Liberia. Things were not as terrable as they are now. We were poor, but happy and safe.We could buy enough food and clothing with whatever little amount of money we had. we could go out and come home anytime of the night with no problems at all.Though there were crimes, but not as it is now. I'm afraid the country may never make a comeback if we don't change the ways of leardetship. Sad, sad, sad.
It seems it is the same recurring theme with our late presidents. They built these mansions only for their families not to maintain these mansions. These are private properties and Liberian government shouldn’t be concerned about such but rather concerned about improving the lives of the people.
That is what I wrote. The family should renovate or sell. It should be the role of the government to ensure these massive properties are not sitting in ruins.
Even with the vandalisation of the building, you can still see it's beauty. Can you imagine what the glory would have been in its zenith housing the President.
Please be careful moving around. Some of these buildings don't look safe. The ex president loved big things. Dictatorship, greed and war destroy a lot. Well done for doing this channel 👍👍
You are right. The role of the government should be to ensure these properties are not sitting in ruins. Develop or sell. The government can provide the properties keep their historic values. The government must spend resources on the country's current needs, not developing properties built with stolen resources.
Where is this remarkable Mansion house located in Bong County,Liberia in July of 2023? The Liberia government really need to furnish this house again in 2023❤❤❤
Why the government? How about his descendants? They should use the stolen resources for renovations. The books are in the library. Turn the mansion into a museum. The descendants have no vision. We see this over and over. The properties of former leaders sit in ruins. It is a damn shame.
@@emmanuelykortu but the government can help may be give the families a loan or something for renovation, and it can be like a tourist attraction it will be generating income for the family while paying the loan for the government as well. It’s just suggestions
Why are all the past presidents houses so dilapidated. Why can the government of Liberia take over these properties and renovate them for tourism and touring library.
I believe that like all our predecessors There was no vision for the future. They should have embodied the people so we can think of our posterity. When people r in power or healthy, they seem to forget that humans r not stone . Had he empowered his children n the people to care for these infrastructures, Liberians would have . Instead, they established the very same we fought . Doe the same . Charles Taylor worse. Sirleaf the same . N it goes on. As long as predecessors won’t think for the country the pattern will continue. Instead of investigating in education n literacy the same way Prince Johnson is doing , they r more concern avoir personal wealth n show . God bless Liberia….

One nation indeed. He had majority of his family in position of power. The farm was for his family. Where are the hosiptals, schools, colleges near this massive farm? So so greed. Now the family cannot maintain the property. African leaders. For 27 years, you did not develop the rest of the community
You have a very beautiful country but unfortunately you never had visionary leaders but i hope you change your mindset when it comes to national unity and delepment.I am from East Africa Tanzania, here we have a country that went through the same tragedy like you i mean Rwanda but take a look at Rwanda now they are far ahead but you still remain stagnant.Never give up and stay focused.
Even after Samuel doe was disgracefully taken out of office, it's a shame to other leaders that occupy presidency office in Liberia not to care in renovation of the building for his family it shows that they all have no love for Tubman at all during his life time.
this is crazy it's very hard to believe all the past liberian president houses are in this condition 😢 all the liberian people money they all stole when they were ruling, none of their family members are able to renovate their properties
Well, Tubman was so worry about sleeping the Queen of England he never put any money aside for his children. Shame on him. All his money was put in red band. Waste 27 years.
Tubman left his family with a lot of money and properties. Did you know how much was in his account when he died? That man wasn’t broke at all. He kids blew the money that he left behind. This is one of his rural properties. Have you seen Tubman building on 3rd street in sinkor? It’s a luxury building with luxury suite.
Use the income from that building to renovate the other properties. They have no vision for creating a legacy for their father. I'm sure some Labonese investor is leasing the property on 3rd Street due to its location. The family did not renovate it.
The people of Liberia need services not for the government to renovate former presidents abandoned homes. Where are the families with the stolen country resources?
NO, way, how about those books in the library from a president who stay in power for 27 years come on liberian brothers. Come on George weah, really. As a matter of fact, I'll come, grab the books and give it for free to the Liberian University in Monrovia.
President George Weah really needs to takes good cares of these former Liberian leaders for people to lives in these mansions in 2023❤❤❤These are remarkable houses located around Liberia in 2023❤❤❤
Why must Liberian government be in the business of fixing private properties. The government need to focus more on improving the conditions of the people.
You doing a great job but show us the environment and not yourself, I think you are focusing the camera too much on your face and not the areas around you.
You stole from the Liberian people and built properties in your family names, that is why after government your family cannot afford to maintain these stolen wealth. A serious government needs to come to office and do an investigation on how these properties were acquired. If the family cannot prove, which they cannot that the properties were built with their criminal parents salaries, all of these properties should be confiscated and auction.
Liberia needs to make peace with it's past. There is always a fresh start. Much Love from 🇰🇪

Very nice video. It is definitely still a very beautiful property. Thanks for sharing.

Is it true there’s an impenetrable safe at his house that people have been attempting to open for years but never have?
