He is a testament to one of the shows core themes: How Unfair the world is. Jinx didn't deserve the baggage of repeatedly killing her father figures and her siblings, but it happened anyway because the world is unfair. Vander was by no means perfect but he is the ideal of what a strong man should be, not just physically capable, but compassionate and willing to sacrifice everything in the name of what is right or what matters to him, in this case his family. {SPOILERS FOR S2) The scene where Vander's memories fade through the watercolors being washed away is still hard for me to watch. They had killed Vander so many times by this point but you knew this time it was permanent. They had killed his body many times and Warwick was killing his mind and ultimately it won when singed drained his blood and the last remnants of Vander with it.
The way that they just throw this single beautiful moment right in your face the second Victor breaks through to Vander’s psyche is so heartbreaking it’s borderline cruel. With this warm pleading song playing, and the impressionist watercolors of Silco and Felicia and all the kids at their happiest, his focus especially on Vi, like these are the core memories that make him Vander and keep him going. I can’t take it man
Really shows how much losing her broke them. Silco decided to fight evil with evil and made the fissures somehow worse than they are. While Vander’s priorities were making sure the Kids were alright at least but only maintained the status quo. They wanted to make Zaun better, but in their pursuit of great they failed to do good.
Vander did good, he was a father and a good one, he abandoned great Silco forgot to do good in the pursuit of great, and then Jinx happened to him and reversed it all for him, he chose to do good and be a father to jinx over having his nation of Zaun They both did good
It would have changed something, but not all. He already decided to take his own path, but it’s normal to think about “what could have been” when things like this happens.

This song really hits hard. It felt like the song/lyrics had so many different layers It felt like Vander calling out from within the monster he’d become for people to remember it was still him and he was still trying to cling on and not be completely taken over. It felt like an internal message to himself to remember who he was It felt like a message to one another, for Vi to remember who Powder was to her, who they were to Vander and their connection to one another in a moment where they are ‘on their own’ through various circumstances. I think there’s also a little bit of it feeling like a message of Silco too, like “remember when I was also a part of the family and not the villainised enemy I later become to you all.”

Same cup and straw, only it’s covered with Powder’s doodles. And it’s the same cup and straw Jinx gets in Season 2 when the bartender poured her some juice. What makes this so much harder is the fact that Powder and Vi are now going to have to mourn Vander's death for a second time. Like they didn't go through enough trauma already!
Vi had the easier end of the stick she not seeing their father dead twice with her own eyes but jinx literally saw it thrice 2 with vander and 1 with silco with her own eyes
@@Xygardsince day 1 of getting out of prison all Vi did was for jinx. Zaunites didn't even recognize her for all the efforts she made. Overall Vi went thru too much, not jinx
Dang, so Silco was in fact good friends with the parents of Vi and Jinx. Now that's heartbreaking. Looking at the attire in memories, it seems the men of that time were miners with gasmasks and goggles for seeing through poisonous smoke.
Silco did mention the air of the mines to the Chembarons, and he mentionned how before all they had was loyalty to each other. At the time, I thought he meant it in a "you frogot where we came from" way. Now it really seems like this was a happier simpler time for the guy.
Seem like most of the under city is made out from miner, worker, and people seeking another life in the city of progress. They dreamed that after all the living and working back breaking in the undercity, they would have a chance to rise up the the Piltover we know today, unfortunately, few made it and many more left stuck underground forgotten, resentful of the dream the people uptop basically lie to them, used them and ultimately forgotten about them, the people that mine the earth, that build the city of progress.
@@Xorkussyeah the feeling of brotherhood loyalty for Silco is him remembering the day when he just a miner with other like him, working, living together like a family, a time simpler and said loyalty is necessary compare to when in the meeting where he saw through all their false loyalty, he know that all of them don’t have that and are willing enough fight him for that throne if he weak, he gone or distracted. Situation change and he hated it, it also could be remembering the time before Vander betrayed him, almost killed him, Silco was broken to bits and he resent but still remember those times fondly.
Their mom's hair is purple, which is made up by pink and blue. her daughters were 2 parts of her. Vander loved the rough strong part that violet represented and he named her as well. Silco might have loved the smart trickster-y part that was found in powder. and he might also have named her. this really explains why he cared for her so much. side note but I like how the mom does the little swiggly V sign to powder that jinx did to ekko in season 1.

I think this are all the memories that was tapped by Viktor. The people that were healed by Viktor was unalived when Jayce shot him and I think these memories are all gone too. The ending of Act 2 is a perfect scenario of him leading to the full transformation of Warwick that we know, a beast driven by pure instinct. This is written in his lore: "But death proved to be the true catalyst needed for Warwick’s transformation. As he lay cooling atop the pile of corpses, the chemicals could finally complete their work. The chamber on his back began to pump. His body contorted unnaturally, bones bending and snapping, teeth growing, sinews tearing and then healing with a faint alchemical glow, dead flesh replaced by something new and powerful. By the time his heart started beating once again, the man Warwick had been and the lives he’d lived were gone." The scene where Vander's memories fade through the watercolors being washed away is still hard for me to watch.
I can’t take it man
Pain is real, happiness is a dream.
Really shows how much losing her broke them. Silco decided to fight evil with evil and made the fissures somehow worse than they are. While Vander’s priorities were making sure the Kids were alright at least but only maintained the status quo. They wanted to make Zaun better, but in their pursuit of great they failed to do good.
nice viktor reference
This is so beautiful
Peak🙌
I absolutely loved that line from Viktor, there are so many amazing lines in this show like that
Vander did good, he was a father and a good one, he abandoned great
Silco forgot to do good in the pursuit of great, and then Jinx happened to him and reversed it all for him, he chose to do good and be a father to jinx over having his nation of Zaun
They both did good
if only Silco received that letter, If only...
It wouldn't have changed nothing. Silco said himself that what he was doing was not for revenge, he even asks vander to join him in s1 ep 3
@@schulz-xo8fz it would have change a lot
It would have changed something, but not all. He already decided to take his own path, but it’s normal to think about “what could have been” when things like this happens.
@@pierredupont1000 Yeah I agree but I still like to think after Vander's "betreyal" the tragedy couldn't be avoided

This song really hits hard. It felt like the song/lyrics had so many different layers
It felt like Vander calling out from within the monster he’d become for people to remember it was still him and he was still trying to cling on and not be completely taken over.
It felt like an internal message to himself to remember who he was
It felt like a message to one another, for Vi to remember who Powder was to her, who they were to Vander and their connection to one another in a moment where they are ‘on their own’ through various circumstances.
I think there’s also a little bit of it feeling like a message of Silco too, like “remember when I was also a part of the family and not the villainised enemy I later become to you all.”
😖😖
YOU DID NOT JUST PUT THOSE MEANINGS IN MY HEAD NOW
A day after watching the scene in the episode, I'm listening to this song on repeat and suddenly my eyes start crying. This is art, in every aspect, angle and possible meaning. Arcane is truly one of a kind, a masterpiece
I feel you brother, am doing the same thing rn
Now I understand why Silco would've never given up Powder/Jinx
Yeah, to him she's both his mirror image and daughter..
I wonder of Marcus would not have caught Vi...Silco could probably take care of her as well.

@@heyitsmeagain6897that’s the only thing bugging me, he told Decard to kill Vi in episode 3, and he was holding a knife while approaching powder when she was crying. It seems he lost any attachment he had to the girls after Vander betrayed him, but powder‘s hug changed that

@@DOUGHYIN They are. Incredible artistic skill and expression I am so glad I get to watch this show.
@@DOUGHYINalso for me the watercolor art style is so fitting for this because this is vander memory and using watercolor it look like fading away just like what happened
I just realized the scene with Vander pouring Vi/Jinx’s mom the juice paralleled the scene where he poured the juice for Powder in the first season. Same cup and straw, only it’s covered with Powder’s doodles. And it’s the same cup and straw Jinx gets in Season 2 when the bartender poured her some juice. Arcane just keeps breaking my heart, putting it back together, and breaking it all over again with even the smallest details 😢
And the trio glass cups too, Silco still use the same glass cup but Vander left his at the mine 😢
I think they also used the same song in that scene.
when jinx found the jackets of vander and silco hung up together THAT HURT SO BADLY. i spent a while thinking ''whose could those be'' from the letters on them but then i saw the style of silco's jacket and realized what it meant
I like how the song's emotional tone resonates with the experience of being forgotten, losing identity, or fearing that those significant to you might no longer recognize or remember you, which are symptoms of dementia and Alzheimer's.

That's exactly what I'm talking about 😭😭😭😭😭
Two emotional episodes in a row, seeing the family before it all goes to bad, and reunited only to happen the same again...theres no happy ending in Piltover nor Zaun.
What makes this so much harder is the fact that Powder and Vi are now going to have to mourn Vander's death for a second time. Like they didn't go through enough trauma already!
Some people never seem to be able to catch a break.
Vi had the easier end of the stick she not seeing their father dead twice with her own eyes but jinx literally saw it thrice 2 with vander and 1 with silco with her own eyes

Arc 2 broke me, man. The flashbacks, the "what-ifs", and the tragedies that surpassed the ones in Season 1. Everything just went downhill so fast.
Now it really seems like this was a happier simpler time for the guy.
this can also explain why silco wasn't affected by the grey when he gassed the barons out in s1
Not only the men i think, cs their mom gave her helmet to powder too like their das did as well

The art style is so good and fits the track so well.
This is written in his lore:
"But death proved to be the true catalyst needed for Warwick’s transformation.
By the time his heart started beating once again, the man Warwick had been and the lives he’d lived were gone."
Vander is truly gone now, and all those memories shown in the video have faded away like echoes of a past that can never return.
Rest in Peace, Vander & Isha
