Many thanks Paul and glad I could give you at least a couple build videos, yeah not so many making these lately. Don't worry, I'll continue to document every Kit I build, it just feels normal as I've done so many!!!! 😅 Have a smashing weekend! 😎👊👍
Fun Mark Bryan RC Fact: The wife makes me listen to your videos on the big speakers now, not on my headphones. She says you sound like "The David Attenborough of RC." Hahahaha. She loves your voice. So there you go, Mark. You could be the next big thing, narrating anything and everything! 😂
Haha! 😂 That is awesome! I actually hate listening to my voice as I play back and edit the videos! But tell Bre that I'm flattered! I'll take "The David Attenborough of RC." any day of the week! If only I could get paid to do narrations and voice-overs! 😂 Cheers bro! 🍻😎👊👍
Every night I play RC related UA-cam videos to fall asleep to, I find them relaxing and most of the RC commentators have calming voices, it's probably because they're doing what they enjoy so they don't have to act out a fake I'm happy all the time personality like most other UA-camrs.
Hi Damian, well I don't know about master but I try my best, and I have at least got a bit of practice doing these by now! 😅 But much appreciated my friend. 🙏 Hope your weekend is going well! 🤞😎👍
These really are the best Tamiya build videos on the internet pal! You break everything down into easy to understand and perfectly detailed steps without lots of bloat! Thank you for sharing and I will be watching this again before I get stuck into my Manta Ray in the future. It is going to be great to see this one blasting about in the spring Mark. You know how much I like the DF01 platform and I think this will be one of your favourite buggies once you have driven it.
Wow, thanks Craig! That's high praise indeed! I should be able to put a half-decent build video out by now, considering the amount of practice I've had over the years! But your words mean so much to me all the same! Yes I know how much you like the DF01, and with good reason my friend, you have good taste and a feel for a great handling chassis! I know I'm going to love this buggy and can't wait to get it up and running, although the weather may have different ideas! All the best my man! 😎👊👍
That was enjoyable, Mark! Couple coffees, sit in the kitchen, Saturday morning, watch a Mark Bryan Tamiya build video, doesn't get much better than that! It really does look like a nice build! So much so that I wondered off to check if EuroRC has it on stock, but they didn't, so probably that means I won't buy this for Christmas, but I also have so many other things that are more important, so maybe best to wait, he he... At least I can enjoy it on video! Have a great weekend there, my friend!
Hi Mads and glad to hear you enjoyed this one, I know how much you like your buggies! Ah well, if they ain't got one in stock, it wasn't meant to be... you never know you might pick one up later. I highly recommend this chassis my friend. Should be as good to drive as it was to build. Good luck with all that other stuff you've got going on and enjoy your weekend too. Cheers mate! 🍻😎👍
That looked like a really nice build, and no nasty surprises either! I have to say that the Tamiya CVA dampers are actually really good, I've never had a problem with them in any of the kits that I've built over the years. Awesome build video as always mate, love it!!
Thanks Barry, yeah a nice straightforward build for a change! Agreed, the yellow CVA's may be an ancient design but they do function well. Glad you enjoyed the video mate - cheers! 😎👊👍
Another great build video Mark! You make it look so easy mate. Nice way to de stress from all this christmas malarkey......I'm sure it gets more expensive, and more stressful every year. These videos are very therapeutic, combined with a nice Henry Weston or two! 🍻 Nice to watch some Tamiya content, everyone seems to be going RTR crazy off late. Looking forward to seeing what direction you go with the body, this is one of those cars that definitely looks better in something other than box art silver! 😉 👍 👍
Hi there James and thanks again for taking the time to leave a great comment! 👍 Nice to hear that you find these videos relaxing! Yes mate plenty of Tamiya's here but sorry there will be a few RTR videos coming up from me! It's that time of year my friend! As for the paint job on my Manta, all I'll say is it is not box art! All the best, my man! 😁👌👍
Thanks Cat, it really was a pleasure to put together and I just know this will be one of the better running Tamiya buggies, it just feels "right"! All the best mate, have a smashing weekend! 😎👊👍
Hiya mate. Sorry I watched this when it came out but forgot to pop back and comment. Anyway great info as ever. This is same as the Terra Scorcher as far as I remember and that was a nice one to build. Look forward to seeing it all finished and blasting around the park when the weather permits. Anyway unusually for a Friday evening I'm not having a beer at the moment, mainly because there was a Christmas do last night and I overdid the beer a little bit 😬 Got the panto tomorrow so will have a couple then (oh yes I will 😂) Cheers mate 😁
Hiya Pete! So nice of you to come back and leave a great comment! 👍 Nah mate this is a different chassis to the Terra Scorcher, but it does have the same coat hanger prop!!! This chassis is similar to the TA02 mate. Oh boy, that Christmas do must have been a good one for you to be beerless on a Friday! 😂 I hope the panto went well (oh no it didn't 🤣) Thanks again mate and enjoy your Sunday! Cheers 🍻 😎 👍
@@MarkBryanRC Oh yeah I've just had a look at my Terra Scorcher and it's a bit similar in layout but entirely different as you say. I'd sort of forgotten what it looked like under the shell. Yes sometimes you have those days when you feel like your body needs a rest from the beer 🤣 Was back on it at the panto (oh yes I was 🤣) Hope Sunday is going well mate 😁
@PeteWylieRC My body never has a rest from beer 🍺 mate! 🤣 But yeah, it's easy to get all these chassis mixed up when you've got as many as we have!!! Sunday is going well thanks, same to you and all the best 👍 👌
Hey Mark, long time eh? Another nice building guide, it would appear many of us have plunged for one of these Manta Ray kits, I think it because they’ve been selling at a relatively cheap price. I managed to get one from Amazon EU for £118.00! Seemed a no brainer. Best wishes 😊
Just built one of these myself, finished it about 15 minutes ago. Great build, It was interesting to see all the design changes between this and the Boomerang I built just a few days ago.I went with PS-48 paint, It didn't go well, But that's traditional for me...
Hi and many thanks for watching! Coincidence you just finished yours... I think the DF-01 is a fantastic chassis and I know it handles well. I hope I have more luck with my paint job, I have a similar colour lined up! Cheers! 🍻😎👍
Great video and excellently explained! I only made 1 mistake when I recently built mine - I found I had the D15 spacers left over after finishing the car, and was scratching my head as to what they were for?? I soon realised that after building the first rear shock I then just repeated x4 without looking any further! 😂 It was my first rc build for nearly 30 years!! 👍
Hi there and thanks for stopping by! Great to hear you are on a new RC build after 30 years! But that one mistake was a very easy mistake to make, I almost did the same! I hope you enjoy your Manta Ray, all the best! 😎👊👍
Nice clear video as usual there Mark. Tempted one day to buy one of these, definitely good value for money the kit. Most likely I'd use the revive rc body on it which I prefer to the kit body.
Thanks very much Tony! I think you should go for one of these one day, there are some cracking deals out there. Maybe you could do one of your "transformation" paint jobs on this body then! Have a smashing weekend mate! 🍻😎👍
well, got mine literally finished (besides the dampers, i wait for these until the end), 'cause filling these makes the most mess. and i want to construct a damper-filling stand for easily filling the dampers - so that you don't need to look where to put them when you have filled them the first time and not have closed them (to let the air come out). i just can't wait to see when you do videos of running the manta ray, or even try to compete it with other buggys, 'cause that's what this buggy is made for!
Hi there and thanks for dropping by! Oh yes filling dampers is a messy business! 😅 Good idea to make a stand! And yes I'm looking forward to running this buggy, I know it will be awesome. Cheers! 😎👍
@markbryanrc hi I began my build into the dto3t of mine but I've run into an issue with the mesh between pinion and spur gears the mesh is too wide (too far apart) I'm using a 19T pinion in the corresponding holes but the mesh is bad I'll strip the spur gear for sure, have U a tip to achieve a better mesh in this area do I need to Dremel the holes a little any advice would be appreciated Ty.
Hi there. If you are using the Tamiya 19T pinion and the correct 2 holes for a 19T there should be a perfect mesh. Check the holes or try different combinations of the 4 holes. Other than that the pinion is either the wrong DP. Correct DP is 0.8M or M0.8 hope this helps!
I'm slowly getting there with my Manta Ray build. quick question, I want to do the body box art but don't want to ruin it when I use it. Do you know of any other Tamiya body's that will fit that I can use as a runner body? Will the Top Force fit?
Good work with the Manta Ray build, Nicola! Sorry but not sure about other body fitments, the Top Force is a good candidate but I don't have one to try on it. Safest just to get another Manta body for bashing! Have fun with it! 😎👍
Just finished watching the video and I have a few questions. Can you get lipos that fit easily enough because it looks to me that only the old style batteries will fit.im new to lipos so forgive me if I sound clueless. Also can you change the camber and toe or is it unadjustable?
Hi Nicola, yes you can get LiPo batteries to fit these old rounded battery compartments, I have a couple, here is a link to the ones I use: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/145147034324?_skw=zeee+2s+4200mah And the camber is fixed but you can adjust the toe by screwing the ball ends on the steering tie rods in and out! 😎👍
@MarkBryanRC Thanks for the link, I found them on Amazon for £23 each and ordered 2. The only difference is the ones you recommended were 7.2V and the ones I've ordered are 7.4, everything else is the same. is that small voltage difference anything for me to worry about?
@@nikki45225 You are welcome! I'm glad you found them on Amazon, sounds like you got the LiPo version at 7.4v, I mistakenly put the link to the NiMh 7.2V version - sorry, my mistake! You will be fine with 7.4v, that's the standard LiPo voltage. Have fun!
