Hi! Great tutorial, thanks! I was going to ask you if you could do a tutorial on "South's gonna rise again" by Flying Saucers. Haven't seen the chords for it anywhere. Thanks!
Thanks very much! That’s not a song I’ve ever played, but I’ve just a listen to it and it’s a nice, simple three chord song. The Flying Saucers played it in the key of D, so the chords used are D, G and A. Lee Denson’s original recording was in C, so the chords were C, F and G. It’s not a song that works on one guitar though - sax and lead play a big part in the recordings.
@@RocknRollSongbook thanks a lot for looking at the songs! It’s too bad this one doesn’t work well on a single guitar, but at least now I know! Thanks!
Just brilliant, love your covers man, how about giving us a cover of Chuck Berry’s “ Havana Moon “ thanks for sharing your passion for Ole Rock N Roll music, maybe you’ll consider a tutorial for this one too. Peace Crazyhorse ✌️. ❤️. 🎼.
I love Havana Moon. It's not one I've ever played. Although it's a Chuck Berry number, it's more of a calypso song than a rock 'n' roll song ...on this channel I specialise in 1950s rock 'n' roll. I may well make a tutorial for Memphis Tennessee one day though. Thanks for the requests - Jez
Thanks very much for the tutorial request. I wasn't sure about making a tutorial for this one, as it's very much my own take on it. I was assuming that folks would really want to learn to play it exactly like Chuck did.
Yes, I think I'd agree with you there! I was lucky enough to see him perform live 3 times. The first time I saw him was back in 1982. I was at the front of the stage, right in front of Chuck. As a 16-year-old guitarist I was watching his fingers very closely. 😊
Long distance information, give me Memphis Tennessee Help me find a party that tried to get in touch with me She did not leave a number but I know who placed the call 'Cause my uncle took a message and he wrote it on the wall Help me, information, get in touch with my Marie She's the only one who'd call me here from Memphis Tennessee Her home is on the south side, high upon a ridge Just a half a mile from the Mississippi bridge Last time I saw Marie she was wavin' me goodbye With "hurry-home" drops on her cheek that trickled from her eye We were pulled apart because her mom did not agree She tore apart our happy home in Memphis Tennessee Help me, information, more than that I cannot add Only that I miss her and all the fun we had Marie is only six years old, information please You got to put me through to her in Memphis Tennessee

Great cover! Which Taylor model is this?
Thanks very much Louis! I'm playing a Taylor GS Mini (koa model).
Check berr is the king of rock and roll

Did you say hi to Chuck Berry
Long distance information, give me Memphis Tennessee
Help me find a party that tried to get in touch with me
She did not leave a number but I know who placed the call
'Cause my uncle took a message and he wrote it on the wall
Help me, information, get in touch with my Marie
She's the only one who'd call me here from Memphis Tennessee
Her home is on the south side, high upon a ridge
Just a half a mile from the Mississippi bridge
Last time I saw Marie she was wavin' me goodbye
With "hurry-home" drops on her cheek that trickled from her eye
We were pulled apart because her mom did not agree
She tore apart our happy home in Memphis Tennessee
Help me, information, more than that I cannot add
Only that I miss her and all the fun we had
Marie is only six years old, information please
You got to put me through to her in Memphis Tennessee
is this in your music book?
Yes. It’s in my ‘Hot Rockin’ Hundred’ songbook 👍
