- In 1999, our society was a cultural wasteland, just waiting for the end of the 20th century. On January 31st 1999, Super Bowl 33 was played between the Denver Broncos and the Atlanta Falcons and it - like basically everything else that year - absolutely sucked.

Yup. Just came here to see if anyone questioned whether we have a new champion. Some people say SB53 was a great defensive game. I can appreciate a good defensive game, but let's call it like it is. It was piss poor offense from both sides.

The overall game itself was pretty god damned awful, yeah. My one friend said he only watched it because his son was watching it, and they'd started to connect thanks to watching NFL together.

Right here too. Last year's Super Bowl was the first time a few of our guest (me included), briefly fell asleep during the whole 3rd quarter. I know, it was a defensive masterpiece the Rams and Pats displayed in that game.

As I look back, my fondest memories of 1999 was playing Goldeneye with my High School friends. We actually stopped watching this game halfway through the second quarter to play that and Mario Kart 64. lol

DEAD THOROUGHBRED in terms of the game... yes. But what makes this so special is that not only was the game bad the comercials were bad and the halftime show was bad. For example at least SB 48 had a good halftime show

20% of the video actually talks about the game, the other 80% is the narrator complaining about the '90s. If you guys wanna know what the actual worst super bowl is, it's SB5 from 1971. This was a low scoring game that had a combined ELEVEN turnovers. The game was so bad, Chuck Howley of the losing Dallas Cowboys, won Super bowl mvp.

Super Bowl V was bad, but the worst...debatable. I personally think Super Bowl XXIV was worse, just on sheer horror alone. Nothing says "bad game" like a score of 55-10. Even San Francisco fans just wanted it to be over.
Johan That's the thing though, it wasn't fully defense, the offense was bad. Johnny U got hurt so the Colts were throwing picks left and right. they had to rely on the kicker to win it in the end.

bruce lee i will never deny the defenses played great, but I would say it was more offensive being actually terrible, I’ve seen good defensive games like seahawks vs Vikings this year, game was 3-0 till 4th quarter, difference was in that game, offense was doing things, they would just get snuffed at the most exciting times, super bowl 53 barely went passed the 40 yard line. I’m probs biased because I’m a seahawks fan, but still, people can have opinions, I didn’t like the game, you can like it and that’s ok, u don’t have to call people retards because they don’t agree with you

Trust me on this one. Super Bowl 33 was NOT the worst Super Bowl. Not even close. Sure the game itself left a lot to be desired, but I can name quite a number of them from the 1980's that made this game look like a nail-biter.
The worst Super Bowl ever was Super Bowl XXIV between the Broncos and the 49ers. The Broncos were embarrassed by the Niners 55-10. That game was over before opening kickoff.
But what about the previous Denver game with The Drive? (Yes, I know it's not a Superbowl...)

Sack. Turnovers. Timely stops. Missed kicks.
People are just so accustomed to the recent offensive frenzy that they don't understand that a low scoring game is still a close game. 3-3 in the 4th quarter is a tie game. No different than 31-31.
You could say it lacked scoring, but to say it was not competitive is just insipid and false.
The first time either team got a win probablity above 60% was when Gronk caught that pass at the 2 yard line.

Super Bowl 53 wasn't a blow-out. If you want blowouts...see Super Bowl 48, 27, and 20. All were victories by at least 5 possessions, and the only reason why 27 wasn't 6 is because of LEON LETT!

no, they blew it. falcons could've just run rush plays for no gain every time they had the ball and it would've run out the clock too much for the pats to logistically be able to come back. but they decided to try and pass and got sacked and sacked and fumbled.
Also the Falcons forgot that running the ball was an option in the second half.

SB 24 - SF over Denver 55-10 (I believe the only SB where a team scored double digits in every quarter)
SB 27 - Dallas over Buffalo 52-17 (Became unwatchable in the 4th but pretty much over at half)
SB 20 - Chicago over NE 46-10 (Became a blow out early in the 3rd but it was embarrassing how bad NE was playing)
