Bhai Jasbir Singh Pounta Sahib Wale has been Blessed a wonderful voice. He has the potential to better than this. I can't understand why Guru Ji's Kirtaniya don't their best if they consider they are singing in the presence of Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj to Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj in Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj. - These good Ragis choose the simplest two line Sholak in Basant when we are Blessed wit many amazing Shabads in Basant Raag. - Why they think they can get away with not going a good job in the Malgla-Charan? Do they think that not pretending to come on Beat is good enough to "Fool" Sangat or even worse Guru Maharaj (may Guru ji forgive me for say the truth). If the it Kirtan is considered only as profession, would a Presentation with mistakes be acceptable to your Boss. I question if this worthy of presenting with a lable of Pounta Sahib Wale if Bhai Sahib Jasbir Singh didn't do any effort to do better than a simplest Sholak in Basant Raag, missing the Beat the only one time he tried to come on Beat in the Mangla Charan. This Sholak was sang in Basant Raag (Purvi style) with two time showing Basant Bahar (towards the end). Children all over the world are studying / working and still make the effort to go better at each Shabad they sing in the Presence of Guru Maharaj ji. I hope Bhai Jasbir Singh improves himself because he can do better. I think we as Guru Sangat, should also expect better from Guru Ji's Kirtaniya.
Not at all. I appreciate Bhai Jasbir Singh Ji for his voice and I enjoy his Assa-Ki_Var. But my point is that he could do better especially if he has Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharji Gurdwara (Pounta Sahib Wale) behind his name. I also appreciate Prof. Surinder Singh ji for training our younger generation. But most Prof. are not "Bhai" or "Raagi". The Prof.'s prepare a performance and recite it when needed. They can't recite an Assa-Ki-Var. Ever Proff. Kartar Singh, Prof Darshan Singh ji, and a number of Prof's never recited an Assa-Ki-Var. Only because they are focused in teaching only Shabads. The Raagi Jathas (Bhaa Shahib jis) are those that have a duty to Kirtan daily at Gurdwaras (like Bhai Gurmeet Singh Shant, Bhai Narinder Singh Banasari, Bhai Baljit Singh Namdhari, Bhai Dharam Singh Zakhmi, Bhai Avtar Singh ji Raagi ,etc.) Assa-Ki-Var is a frequent duty. The point is that each Bhai Sahib's and Prof's have the role to play in promoting Gurmat Sanjeet Kirtan that is a "JEM" that Guru Nanak Dev Ji started Sikhi with, and captured a religions and person he converted with positivity and Love (Raag). We should all try to thank Bhai Sahib's and Prof's for their roles in our mission but, also to request them to improve and perform at their Best when present to Guru Maharaji so that we can consider them as "Master" in their Field (not by choosing shortest a two Basant Sholok when there are many Basant Shabad that are sung by Raagi Jathas). Shortcuts will not result in Guru Sahib's Blessing simply because if Sangat can see these shortcuts .... Guru Ji is Limitless.
I really apreciate Prof. Surinder Singh Ji's contribution of teaching and introducing Gurmat Sangeet to our Sangat population. However, I do beleive that Kirtan on the Internet should not require payment especially if you are trying to inspire others to take this path of Gurmat Sangeet (it not a pop song). Secondly, I have heard and recorded Prof. Surinder Singh Ji's Assa-Ki-Var in a Gurdwara in Canada. Let say, there is a big difference between a Studio Recording with support from Ustad Ranbir Singh and Ustad Surjit Singh and reciting Assa-Ki-Var in the presence of Guru Maharaj Ji and Sangat. Once again, it take a special talent that Prof Surinder Singh has been Blessed to teach new people Gurmat Sangeet that it is very precious. Prof. Surinder Singh Ji and I cannot compare Assa-Ki-Var this studio recording to Ragi Jatha like Bhai Samund Singh Ji, Bhai Santa Singh Ji, Bhai Avtar Singh Ji, Bhai Dharam Singh Ji Zakhmi, Bhai Narinder Singh, just to name a few that have spent their life time perfecting assa-Ki-Var in Gurdawars with no additional supporting Ustads. These Ragis Assa-Ki-Var Kirtan flow like the river (naturally) with perfection. It is Amazing, Outsatnding, Spritual and repeatedly every time.
