Gameplay looks solid. Much better than the trailers. Glad that the Fatal Bullet devs are working on this, that brings me some relief. Still, I wish more anime games (SAO in particular) would realize that we all want the custom character approach, and to play in these worlds as them, instead of Kirito and co for the 80th time
I'm the opposite. Custom characters are just ugly and weird most of the time especially in Bamco games, i'd rather run with actual characters from the show.
@@mid9blisssame, they're so hollow and they just stands there during dialogue, looking soulless because they don't have any identity of their own, they're just a self insert which makes me cringe, and it's like the other characters are talking to a blank space when they're talking to it, just awkward. I'd rather play as Kirito forever because at least he's an actual person with his own thoughts and point of view and actual relationship with the world were playing in even though it does get tiring to be him all the time. Maybe they should spice it up a little and have him transform into a villain or at least finally have him look like a grown man.

also if you're expecting this game to have more guns then don't, the only characters that has guns here are the gun gale characters and sinon, and you don't get to change their guns, the rest are melee
I hope anime games realize they aren't witcher 3. I want to live the story as Geralt but I don't want to be Kirito or have him there because I already know how it plays out. Take the universe and build a completely different story with it.

As someone who doesn't care about sao but got super into fatal bullet because it was from the freedom wars team I might have to give this one a go, once it's on sale, my october video game budget is going to ys.
Sounds like a lot of people in the comments want a game that resides in SAO not an SAO game. I’m personally happy to get to play as my fav characters. I’d say if you were looking for this to be an mmo, skip ahead. This is more like Granblue relink.
Ive been following this game since it was announced originally. And yeah i feel like trailers arent telling enough of the actual gameplay. I do get why there are lots of skeptics however. Sao has a very long history of releasing mid games, wifh maybe a couple of decent entries. But coming off granblue fantasy relink, which so far is what id compare the game to, this game looks amazing.
Did they ever mention if this was a live service or coop requires any sort of account login? Or is it like Granblue Fantasy where we bring our single player progression into coop?
Instead of all these games I wished they made one SAO game and made as much as a virtual world as they could to make it feel like you are in the world from the first season of the anime. Minus the dying IRL part of course. I loved the anime at first but I’m a bit over it by now. I have all games except the most recent one but I haven’t finished any of them as I love interest. But I guess not every game can hold my attention as well as Trails in the Sky.
No create a character is a fumble from the dev team. Part of the reason why SAO FB was such a massive success is because you can create your own character and insert yourself into the story and universe. This is the biggest appeal of anime games.

It means you can't make nearly as interesting playable characters out of fear that a certain combination of skills would break the game as a custom character. Your options are either a bland set of skills that all do similar things, or a set of meta skills that dominate everything else.

This game has officially confirmed a premium currency used only for cosmetics, along with a battle pass being inside the beta files. From the sounds of it, all rewards will be cosmetic, as most of the gear that actually matters would come from the content in the game itself, i.e. missions and raids.
Ah, SAO Fatal Bullet. I still play that game every now and then (AMD Breakthrough 4 is so much fun). My only question is if we get access to so many different guns like in SAO FB somehow, or if guns are restricted to their specific characters (from the look of things, it might be the later ... argh).
SAO devs really think we wouldn't enjoy another game with our character and insists on making kirito the center of attention. The thing is, SAO has no reason to stick to kirito for as long as it has. That man's time has passed. He's happily married, and there are millions of MMO players. Find another schmuck to focus on. Better yet, let us make our own like in Fatal Bullet.

Let's actually be clear, it terms of playability, yes it could be a Fatal Bullet successor. BUT directly like it? Far from it. Its like we took Fatal Bullet's scheme, AOs battle system and turned it into a "Boss Rush" with MOBA elements.
If Hollow Re. had the Action Combat of Faral Bullet or at least close to it, it would undoubtly be the superior game by all means.. heck I'd say it could be one of the better JRPGs overall.. but with that lame ass, slow and bad version of a tab target wannabe tactics game combat style they keep using even tho it objektively never succseeded it will always be a 50/50. (I love HR, dont get me wrong)

My fav. game was hollow realization and the single player-mmo-kind-grind that it included. What about it? Do we get an mmo-level-single-player game or not? Tried the beta, 2 things are turning me off for now: 1. Being a 60€ game with microtransactions, paid DLC and from what I've heard battlepass. 2. Coming from Granblue Fantasy Relink, the combat feels very stiff. Maybe its because of the 20 player co-op, but moving and attacking feels like a job here, while bosses varely do any movement doing attacks that cover most of the battlefield. Camera is also pretty bad witht these massive enemies

Because the game is about unlocking new characters/classes. Playing online you are often locked out of selecting a certain character because someone else already picked them.
@Aqua_Espresso I enjoy the SAO world, I liked Fatal Bullet quite a bit and even the earlier SAO titles when I knew little about the series but I dont enjoy it from Kirito's pov because I dont find him interesting or particularly likeable, so I am waiting for that new SAO game that will be for me and am dissapointed when it isnt.
I feel like there's no reason to get this game if you care about the story, but if you care about fun gameplay, you'd be missing out if you skipped this. As someone who played the closed beta, its way more fun than it looks on the surface, so at least try the open network test

I really wish they’d go back to the formula of Fatal Bullet where you make your own character. That’s why I enjoyed it so much.
