  • This is the second conversation with Andrew Baartz in our series on the increasingly controversial doctrine of ‘penal substitution’.
The title of our series is ‘The Cross and Creation; can atonement combine both?’
This week Tony and Andrew explore the question - ‘What are the challenges in creation for which the cross was the solution?’

Thank you for posting these talks. You briefly touched on this, however I was wondering if you have additional / expanded thoughts. I have had a notion for a time that the “problem” that arises out of Genesis 3 is indeed a lack of trust in God. The knowing of good and evil is being aware of order and disorder and the fact that man becomes aware that God is responsible for both thus the distrust of God. I had considered the idea that the cross was man’s wrath on God to serve as the ultimate way for complete trust to be restored. Your discussion of the sacrificial system being for our purpose lends some credence to that line of thinking.
I haven’t completely wrapped my mind around that aspect of the cross. Any further insight would be appreciated.
Finally, would you be able to point me in the direction of the talk you referenced with the woman discussing resurrection?
    Thank you again!
