KZ had a surgery on her lymph node when she was in her early teens and stopped singing till she saw Jessie J. KZ was overwhelmed when Jessie J visited her on her tiny room prior to KZ first performance at the Singers 2018. KZ was in the audience when Dimash sang Hello 2018.
What makes this more amazing is this was KZ's own rendition and every audience member are musicians. The audience need to pay to get into that show as well.
I feel the autotune at the beginning was an artistic choice.KZ's performance here has a theatrical flare. The acoustic guitar brings to mind romance . When KZ starts singing with the autotune, I believe it's intended to 1. confuse (song is about betrayal) and 2. bring out that robotic sound (song is about someone manipulated "you played it... you played..."). It takes technical vocal skills to use an autotune in a live performance specially when KZ knows exactly what emotion she wants to communicate: sadness and devastation (see her facial expression while singing in autotune). She's in a dark state (the stage is literally dark). She wants to break free (see her hand gesture before she belts out that sustained note with the autotune). That sustained note signals her breaking away from that manipulative bubble. The camera moves and somewhat rolled, the stage was dark and then it was filled with streaks of light. She's free! She's no longer sad. But she's angry (see the use of red light on stage all through out thebperformance) because something that's beautiful was all put to waste. KZ owned the song right in the very beginning. The rap (in Filipino language; speaks of frustration and anger) is just a bonus.
This performance has so many layers: interpretation of story in the song, melodic changes, vocal style, and stage presence. KZ is not just a singer, she's a legit artist. She takes the extra mile to make a difference in her craft for the world to enjoy. My two cents.
Well said, that's worth a trillion. She has my vote. All around performer. The Chinese song she sung was so emotional. Kz had the crowd, but this time they were crying; because she was really feeling the song. It's a great performance. They underestimated her. Kz has the package, but not the Whole package for that competition. I really believe Kz should have won the whole competition. I heard she won the competition between her and Jessie J. That's my two cents.
I love all of her performances but sadly only rolling in the deep(#1) and say something(#4) got great scores. Even the epic royals scores the lowest which is #8 thats why she is eliminated.
She's an amazing singer with super unique talent, her versatility is incomparable... she arranged every songs she perform...
