    For 1300 dollars that kid should not leak water 🤦🏽‍♀️

      Couldn't agree more! Sadly though, it is what it is.
      For us, the total cost + taxes + shipping (here to Singapore) amounted to some SG$2400 (US$1818), which is a mad price... I have to say through, I've been procrastinating and not reached out to them yet. :-p

    Others reported a leak too. It’s not acceptable considering the $1,300 dollar price tag.

    A couple ideas for you, first the bolts should have been loosened and the silicone put in the gap. Secondly the silicone should have been RV silicone which can handle harsh temperature fluctuations and will stay elastic. Your choice of silicone will be affected by the sun.

    I found this while trying to troubleshoot our putco clear JKU top. Same deal, we LOVE it! but man, same as yours... it started leaking profusely after about 5 months of use... we live in the PNW area 6 months outta the year and it rains just as often as your neck of the world... Pissed but happy that I am not the only one... Today starts the first day of throwing band aids at it.

    This may be a stupid idea but maybe somehow you can use that clear membrane they use for waterproofing roofs on homes in such a way? You can buy at a Home Depot if they have by you? Just a thought

    I have a 2007 and my clearlidz top leaks terribly. I had several inches of water in my glove box and everything inside of it was floating including my iPad. Thanks for posting this video. I'm going to check to see if mine is leaking from.the bolts as well. Then I'll try to figure it out from there. I really wish they had put more quality control into such an expense accessory.

    Hey, great videos, thanks for posting... I have a question about the heat and the clearlidz, I'm base in Dubai and thinking to order one, but wondering how is it doing with high temperatures.

    • @Hong.9tro
      @Hong.9tro  3 роки тому +3

      Hello Ivan,
      To be honest, while the Clearlidz is indeed tinted and helps reduce heat from entering the cabin space, our experience with it is that it actually allows more heat into the cabin as compared to the regular/stock Freedom Top.
      At times, when parked under the sun for a few hours, the insides get so hot (like an oven) the radio system wouldn't work (until the cabin has cooled down). We even crack open the windows slightly to allow for some of that heat to escape.
      Given the intense blazing sun in Dubai, I'm going to assume it will be the same situation.
      One solution I'm currently testing, is to put small solar-powered fans in the cabin when parked under the hot sun, with the windows left slightly opened.
      Don't get me wrong though, the product is great, in terms of look & feel, but definitely not 100% perfect.

      @@Hong.9tro Same deal here, we live in Joshua Tree 6 months outta the year so from extreme mojove desert heat then to down pours. Other than the constant leaks when we are "up north" it seems to be holding up to the heat. But also cooks our amazon android head unit to the point of it not wanting to startup.

    I wish they would remove bulging on the top of the clear lidz.
    It refracts the light and makes it look blurry

    • @Hong.9tro
      @Hong.9tro  3 роки тому

      It does indeed distort the view, but I think it was designed for some sorta aerodynamics purposes, similar to the stock/original Freedom Top panels..

      Hello Chris! Thanks for dropping by and congrats on your Wrangler. Just a quick word-of-advise, there is occasional water seepage from our 'CLEARLIDZ', especially during heavy downpours. A bit of luck might be needed.

    I live in Miami and the sun is sooo bright here that all my black plastic are turning gray (with only having my Jeep for a month). Do you see any of the interior changing color from it being exposed to direct sun now? That’s my biggest worry with buying it 🥺

    • @Hong.9tro
      @Hong.9tro  3 роки тому +1

      Hello @Victoria
      We have pretty intense sun here in Singapore as well, which I reckon will mean high levels of UV rays, which I believe is the main cause as to why the interior colours fade.
      On our end, we don't seem to have discoloration after having the Clearlidz fitted on. If I recall correctly, the Clearlidz has an anti-UV coating which helps reduce the amount of UV rays entering the Jeep. This is not to say it is 100%, but it does help a'lil.
      Side note: There are some interior protecting/cleaning creams and gels available on the market. Quite inexpensive too. Might be a good idea to use'em as an added protection.

    What are the results of the fix? I sourced a 1 month old top 3 hours from me at a decent discount. No leaks, or so they say. They just do not care of the additional wind noise. That will not bother me.

      @Hong.9tro  3 роки тому

      Hey! Hope yours will be leak proof! To be 100% honest, we have yet to put it back onto our Jeep since, been busy with work and life and stuff... LOL! Plan to have it fitted back on this weekend, then parking it under some intense mid-year thunderstorms..

  • @jlilly8144
    @jlilly8144 Рік тому

    What I would have done in your situation is taken the bolts out directly and then put a glob of sealant down around the hole and reinsert the bolts. That would likely have taken care of the problem as it seals the entire hole area. You could also go full tilt and just put clear sealant all over the top bolt head, as neatly as possible, sealing any possible entrance points. It's on the roof and hard to see so really only you would know it's like that up there.

    Thanks Bro! I have to watch this in more detail at my office. I actually bought it a hour before you emailed from a spot with guaranteed returns for $1085. My application would be Northeastern NY so very damp. Did you try to reaching out to Clearlidz?

    • @Hong.9tro
      @Hong.9tro  3 роки тому +2

      Nope, I've not reached out to them yet. I purchased mine from Quadratec, so I'm not too sure who I should be contacting. But I'm gonna wait and see if this silicone solution works out (or not). The good thing is that the silicone could be peeled off if it doesn't work, or if an exchange is possible from Clearlidz. I highly doubt the latter though, since shipping alone costs us approximately SG$300 (US$225)..

    • @tomjones1967
      @tomjones1967 3 роки тому +2

      @@Hong.9tro wow that’s expensive shipping. I’d contact Clearlidz, they seem very proactive. Your videos in buckets of rain outweigh any of their material. Give them a call & let them know the application; what’s the worst that could happen?
