Yes, I am 49, I feel more active than my dad when he was my age.
Thanks @Arun Balachandran and @Anelise for this discussion

I wish the caregiver was asked how she can financially survive as F/T caregiver after having given up her career. This is one of the main barriers to family members becoming caregivers, how can they afford to?

Why are so many people interested to know on their personal financial? It is called Sacrifice to satisfy your curiosity, which is a very rare virtue in human beings!

Why so many people interested to ask this personal financial question? It is called SACRIFICE which is a rare virtue in human beings! And the greatest love anyone can give someone, it is many times greater than mother's love too, as marketing make world believe otherwise!

We all have to experience this ageing stage, and we should respect our parents and elderly people around us. Sometime, we feel them burden which is not at all right. Let’s help age to enjoy the way it comes. I loved so much this show, and inspired me a lot. Thank you Aljajera to host such a beautiful discussion.

From the newborn to the oldest living person, we are all as young now as we ever will be. Leverage the time you have. And by the way, all we have is NOW.❤

It might sound controversial, but we really do need to pour more resources into anti-aging science-it’s absolutely crucial, especially when you think about how quickly our population is ageing. The reality is, we’re heading into a future where a large portion of society will be elderly, and we need solutions that go beyond just managing age-related issues; we need to prevent or even reverse them.
The exciting part? With the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence, we actually have a real shot at making this happen. AI is already revolutionising medical research, helping us analyse complex data faster than ever before and unlocking insights we couldn’t reach before. Imagine combining that power with cutting-edge anti-aging research-it could completely transform how we approach ageing, not just for the elderly but for everyone. It’s not just about living longer; it’s about living healthier, more fulfilling lives for as long as possible.

It's not the medical industry or prescriptions that keep one healthy, mentally and physically. It's the proper food. Let food be they medicine, and medicine be they food.

breed less, greed less, and we wont have to industrialise our lives, antinatalism is the very very hard pill that people refuse to swallow, but in this case, whether people are voluntarily doing it or not, the decline is but nature returning to a balance, the nature so ingrained within humans that it's activated and so this is what we see

Ideally the ruling class would prefer us not to make it far into pension age, and with Covid being left to let rip, they might, infuriatingly, increasingly get their wish

    • @dontnoable

In countries like France where pension age is younger than others, I wonder if age is looked at slightly differently too

My question to the daughter is . Do you have a child or children ?. For the problem will start in this generation but will continue in the next where they will be no children to take care of us. That is where the real problem lies. Who will take care of the future old people who are currently the present young people.

She's a great daughter for taking care of her mom like that. But to make the claim that her mom is "thriving" when she 's. Non-ambulatory , bed bound and totally completely mentally shut down is just untrue. Personally, I wouldn't want to exist like that. Nor would I want someone that I care about to sacrifice their life to take care of me in a near vegetated state.
It is not about life, it's about quality of life

China has already developed robots to take care of elderly. All countries will follow. All governments should invest in retirement homes, they should give subsidies . People should save money so that they can directly retire in old age homes. Increasing population will only increase carbon footprint , global warming & decreased food output and make everyone's life miserable.

  • @dtanx8978
    @dtanx8978 11 днів тому

Don't be naive that we will be able to retire, at this day and age of high cost and inflation.
As life expectancy increases, our retirement age increases too
Governments around the world have increased the retirement age and included new re-employment schemes for the elderly to work when they are old (60 and above)
