- What Is The Hurry?! Fast Norfolk Southern Trains In The Rain. Trains With DPUs & Radar Speed Checks On CSX Auto Racks Train And Speed Check On Norfolk Southern Mixed Freight. Includes Night Train In Erlanger, Kentucky. Crittenden, Kentucky Train Is First And Then Walton, Kentucky Trains Are Next At My Favorite Railroad Crossings.
This was filmed on a Saturday during the storms that came from the Florida hurricane. The power was out at my house and I wanted to film trains in the cold Kentucky rain. I had the radar unit with me and used it on the CSX auto racks train and on a Norfolk Southern mixed freight.
Trains are in Crittenden, Walton and Erlanger, Kentucky. The last train was filmed on my way home in total darkness and rain. I was at a railroad crossing in Erlanger and filmed a southbound train with a DPU. Just before that train came I saw something moving at a dumpster behind a business. I thought it was a raccoon at first. However, I could barely see that it was a woman getting out of the dumpster with a backpack. That was kind of odd. She left right when the train was coming.
Which train is your favourite and do you like trains in the rain?
Don't miss the Live Action Pets and the slide show that comes from the video.
Filmed Saturday, September 28, 2024 in 4K with 30fps. Thanks for watching!
Please thumbs up and watch another JawTooth video to help my channel.

I just noticed something at 1:21. After a few people commented it looks like someone or maybe a ghost in the blue boxcar. Does anyone else see that?
I see it to, It’s definitely a person riding the train who snuck on most likely

Appreciate the sacrifice you made by standing in the rain to catch these shots. Don't catch a cold now.
Thanks for watching my videos!
Appreciate the information you give, such as, the speed of the train in LaGrange.
Thanks for watching my videos! I appreciate it
Well, one thing I can say JT is that you are a true rail fanner, for somebody to stand out in the rain all day and part of the night to get train videos for us to watch you are truly a dedicated rail fanner, and I appreciate every video that you put out but anyway my friend that first train that went by had 1240 truck frames on it and as always another awesome video and you stay safe out there my friend and watch your back and we’ll see you on the next one
Over the weekend I had a good time at the tracks near Falmouth, Kentucky. I did a campout in a very remote area. So remote that the lane leading to the tracks had a couple trees over it and I had to cut them with my chainsaw just to get through . It will be a good video
That's awesome , train going 44 mph, I've see them pushing 57mph in Ohio going west bound, But rail road got keep tracks tight and in awesome shape
Great video @Jaw Tooth, love seeing them. You’re my absolute favorite UA-camr, keep up the good work.
Thanks! Will do!
Great Catches

Love that night shot!
Thanks for watching my videos!
I miss Hobo Shoestring. I really enjoyed the train hopping journeys. Would using an umbrella while filming in the rain be to noisy? The rain on the lens in the last clip was kinda cool though.
Thanks for watching my videos! I appreciate it. Umbrella would take up one of my hands and I wouldn't be able to zoom in
While your doing birthdays, mine is 10-10 going to be 66... Thearchman would be me.. I watch you every day and keep the vids comming... As I always say BE CRAZY!!!

Good morning Jaw Tooth.

Thanks for watching my videos!
hey jt i think csx is more careful about speeds than NS
Thanks for watching my videos!
Great video Brian, lots of long trains, and have some nice graffiti!
Sorry, I got other stuff I'm dealing with in the form of a hurricane. Thanks for the video Brian stay well roll on
I was filming trains today and heard that a hurricane is coming to the Tampa area or south of it. Take care and get to safety. I hope everything works out. These hurricanes are worse than I thought.
This should the M-205 on CSX which terminates at Louisville at the Osborn Yard. Comes from Worcester, MA.
Thanks for watching my videos! I appreciate it
The autoracks are probably on CSX M205 that originates in Worcester, MA and ends up at the Osborn Yard iin Louisville, KY.
Thanks for watching my videos! I appreciate it
Hey just recently found your channel and subscribed, I love it! I live up in Buffalo, NY and watch trains all the time. We have a lot of CSX & Amtrak, and a decent amount of Norfolk Southern, if you are ever looking for a new place to film. Thanks for the videos!
Awesome! Thank you! I would like to visit upper New York. Thanks for subbing!
♫ ♬Searching for DP YOU, in the cold Kentucky rain ♩ ♪ - Elvis Presley
I have loved that song since I was a little kid. I actually got to go through Elvis' house
But , rail road got keep those rail car axles with automatic greasing units and get rail cars in little bit better shape, I've heard wheels thumping with flat spots, those got get pulled out working commission and in repair shop or fixed on site in rail yard in off holding track
Great video as always JT!! I've been trying to get some night trains here lately but unfortunately they end up so blurry you can't make them out. I was just curious if you'd have any reccomendations for me on what to try? Thanks and I look forward to watching more of your videos. ❤
Sorry to hear that. Make sure the setting is on at least 1080 and the farther back that you are the better they look. The faster they go they get blurred also. I try to find some light to have behind me
I was watching a video yesterday from Lost Depot. I saw a set o CSX locomotives and the 2nd one #1973 was have painted with CHESSIE SYSTEM colors. Have you ever saw anything like that?
Yes, I filmed #1973 in Mulberry, Florida. I have filmed quite a few of the CSX heritage units. I just got the Monon on Saturday
Any ideas on what the FC loads of " frames? " are?
I believe there's either a GM or Ford plant in Louisville, that may be where the empty racks are going.
Yes at Obannon on the east side
I saw you in the open box cart first train.
Yup, that was me! Lol
That was a lot of truck frams
Thanks for watching my videos!
You want to get as straight a shot as possible. Best would be approaching from way down, or after the train as passed and you can get a straight shot at the rear car. The speed is diminished by the increase in angle. It is called the radar cosine effect . Train was going faster than 44, probably closer to 50 mph.
Thanks for watching my videos!
