Avan's answers make me wonder if he got a little experimental in his early years in LA lol. also, I LOVED this show, and I'm so sad it didn't get a second season. bring it back, guys!
Should I tell my little sister who just now loves the “Victorious” cause of Ariana grande “ Sam and Cat” that Avan ( Actor of Beck Oliver ) that she has a huge crush on is in the movie “The Apocolypse”
Whoever did the wardrobe for the Ulysses character needs to get a raise. I am not even into clothes and special styling, but his outfits made me want to pay more attention based on how cool they looked.
Nothing what they just said were offensive💀 stop this right now lol they actually were open minded and said all great things. Still don't know what YOU'VE heard though
What do you mean by this exactly? And I don’t mean that to attack- genuinely, I’d love clarification. Because if you mean either Tyler or Avan, both of them have actually come out as queer/unlabeled in recent years. In addition, Avan actually co-founded the non-profit organization Straight But Not Narrow all the way back in 2013, and while I admittedly don’t know a lot about it, I do know it was focused on having conversations with straight people to help the be more accepting and loving towards the queer community, so this is nothing new to him. Tyler has always been really compassionate about these things, and he’s done a lot to speak out against anti-transgender sentiments/violence to try, which as a trans gay guy I especially appreciate considering the current climate around us in the U.S. right now. He talked about that even BEFORE all this hostility occurred, which I find very meaningful. I know that as queer people seeing actors take on queer roles, there’s the temptation to say, “Well, you’re straight, you have to do more!” (Even when, like if this case, we can never actually be sure if someone is straight unless they’ve stated it- which can lead to awful situations like with Kit Connor being forcefully outed by quote unquote “fans”). Because yes, in entertainment, we’ve been historically given less than our straight counterparts in terms of positive representation. But in the end, by saying this we just perpetuates the same heteronormativity treating straight as the default that straight people themselves have created. If we expect every assumed-to-be straight actor to be perfect in a queer role, then people will just be too afraid to take on those roles, and queer people won’t show up on screen (because let’s face it, as much as we wish they’d open up the doors for up and coming queer actors, they won’t, and they’ll pick the big names first). I care less about having the most perfect, sanitized representation with no detail or nuance, than a role with mistakes but also heart and care put into it. And I think it’s unfair to expect that from actors, especially if it comes from the assumption that they’re straight and therefore wrong, when in the future that may be proven not to be the case. Anyway. That was a VERY long response to a rather simple comment. In any case, hopefully you’re at least thrilled to learn that these two awesome people are members of our queer family.
