Thank you for the tips buddy. A few more tips for the first time hill road drivers, #1 - If you are driving hills (lets say for Ooty) for the very first time, make sure you've practiced a few slope drives (both uphill and downhill) by driving through some slope roads in your area / city. Especially the half-clutch biting point acceleration is very important thing to be practiced. At any cost, you should not let your vehicle go backwards in the slope especially if there is a traffic in the hill road #2 - If possible, if its your first hill-drive, better take with you an experienced driver (may be your relative / friend / or some driver available for hire) aside your driving seat, who could help you with your driving and keep you calm at some kind of driving situation which you are not so comfortable with. #3 - Check your tyre pressure and fuel before you drive uphill. If you can find fuel stations in the hill station then better fill your tank only to half the capacity. #4 - For the sake of good, do not overtake any vehicle in the adjacent lane , especially in the turns, unless or until you know exactly what you are doing. #5- Make sure your wind shield works just fine, similarly your high beams and fog lights. #6 - Do not overload your vehicle more than its carrying capacity, especially if its a smaller vehicle with less than 1000 CC horse power. Hope this helps someone.
Pls add below points too, 1. Too much of breaking will causing heat on the break shoe which resulting break failure.So avoid unnecessary breaking while uphill and down hill. 2. Please don't drive the car to downhill without start engine, which cause break and steering failures. 3. Also don't drive the car to downhill wi th Neutral which engine breaking function will not be applied causing break failures.. 4. Downhill vehicles should give way always to uphill vehicles.. 5.Don't keep pressing the clutch frequently while downhill which cause affect engine breaking.. Drive the car in downhill always without pressing clutch normally. Whenever required to stop the car, you can press clutch as usual.
