- Conor O'Dwyer rides the Mouse Morris trained 'War of Attrition' to victory in the 2006 Cheltenham Gold Cup from 'Hedgehunter' (Ruby Walsh) and 'Forget The Past' (Barry Geraghty) and 'L'Ami' (Mick Fitzgerald). Race starts at 01:40
The horse was owned by Michael O'Leary's Gigginstown House Stud, the first time they won the most prestigious of all National Hunt events.

Everything about this is great. The commentary, the cheer of the crowd after the third last, the finish, goosebumps!!!
Wow the jumping from War of Attrition was something else !!
Hedgehunter was such a horse i loved him back in the past having won the 2005 grand national such a class horse just watching races that was years ago makes you think what horses their were back then that you can remember having back in the good old days man not like now these days.. It was the best racing back in these times to me period.

+David Appleton Remember the race quite well and Gigginstown Stud would carry the same colours ten years later with Don Cossack, just last Friday. In this renewal, Grand National winner, Hedgehunter who came so close to achieve the big race double and Stayers (World) Hurdle winner, Iris's Gift.
Say what we all want about ruby but look at him after finishing 2nd in a great gold cup. Brilliant sportsmanship arm around the winning rider.
He was some horse, he never fell on a racecourse. He did fall once in a point to point ! What a wonderful horse and so loved by everyone who owned and trained him. Rest well War of Attribution.

no horse has a glove on kauto star, denman or sprintre sacre but kauto was the best in our age
Jon Snow how can you say that when denman had a massive injury before that kauto couldn't touch him
