Sometimes I forget Cody went to law school. You can tell he knows his stuff. I love the fact that he has a level head about all the Nintendo stuff going on. He seems pretty confident too
The well of discussion about last year's Nintendo stuff has already been far too poisoned for things to be taken in good faith or with level heads. People responsible for a lot of these issues are still refusing to take accountability or actually learn from their mistakes.
36:18 The camera going out perfectly proves pp's point since the moment he stops caring about it (and what everyone else thinks), the camera comes back on.
@queuedjar4578 a sponsor but not a team. Cody is still looking for a full-time team and eggdog is just getting him to the events they can in the meantime.
Ive been a cody fan for a while, i personally really like watching people improve at spmething, especoally stuff like mentality (why im also a tweek fan in ult) and it makes some players so satisfying to see win because ive seen the hard journey there Also ive gotta say, cody has had killer losers runs forever, and as much as i wanted a plup club dub, it was so cool to see one finally closed out
There are a lot of hard working Melee players, but Cody might be the hardest working of them all. Blue collar af out here doing all this work. Cody, if you see this, keep it up. You're an inspiration 🤯
I'm not sure if this is the right comment section to post in, but I would love for PP to have a kind of deep dive into some topics regarding melee. From the way he talks, you can tell he thinks on a really deep level which and carefully chooses his language to best convey abstract concepts, where other people have trouble. I think this would be a great way to expand the way people think and make some great content.
CV: Big House 11 is for sure the best in the modern era, but shoutout to Hungrybox at LTC 7, if I’m not mistaken, i think except for Big House 11 there wasn’t a better loosers run at a mayor since 2019. At least I couldn’t think of a run in the last 4 to 5 years, that had 8 or more sets, 9 if you count grand finals as 2 sets. But of course, Cody’s Run is better with 10 to 11 Sets.
my top 3 losers runs are, in order: -Cody's run at the big house. I think the run speaks for itself, but also a big factor is that it's 11 rounds in losers in the post Slippi era. which is absurd considering how often we've been seeing upsets recently. summit 11. the narratives around this run were nuts. first irl tournament since lockdown so everyone was giving it everything, and also the grand finals was imo the greatest set of all time, which I think is the biggest thing it has over the others. pound 3. like, there's a reason a lot of people still think it's the greatest losers run ever. imo it being so long ago does lose it some points compared to the other 2, but like, it was still completely bonkers
CV: Top 3 Loser’s Run all time 1. Mango - Pound 3 - although it’s so long ago, there will likely never be a run repeated like this one. After losing to Silentwolf in link dittos, Mango a player still not fully recognized as a top threat would go down to losers and beat every “god level player” from the era before including m2K who seemed almost impossible to beat at that time even in stages like Corneria with puff. It really looked like a transition between the old old guard into the dark ages. The fact that Mango’s loss wasn’t even that serious makes this run even more amazing. If something like this happened today, it would literally shake the whole melee community. Although I can see other Summit 11 and Big House 11 runs, I will probably never see another Pound 3 run. 2. Mango - Summit 11 - After coming back from the online era, Mango after losing to Plup in top 8 loser’s beat only top 10 players at that time (Moky, n0ne, iBDW, plup, Hbox, and Zain x2). This is pretty much everybody who was a top top threat outside of Leffen and Wizzrobe. Mango beat Zain twice in a time where no one thought Zain could lose to fox in two sets, the first set being a reverse 3-2, twice in FD. 3. iBDW - Big House 11 - Longest loser’s run in any super major ever. The only thing holding it back from being the best run is he played less top top threats but still one of the most incredible runs ever. iBDW beat both Zain and Mango his two biggest threats in any given tournament and Plup who looked pretty unstoppable this year. Just want to say all these runs are incredible and there are plenty runs that I haven’t mentioned that are up there in terms of greatest loser’s runs in melee.
CV: Losers' runs are obviously defined by their narrative just as much as the actual content of the run (the matches), and with that in mind I have to give a special shoutout to Mang0's Press Start run. 10 sets in Losers' after DQing from the first match of day 2, all because he showed up late... I don't think any description could embody Mang0 better than that. It's not even like Press Start was some tremendous sized tourney -- I mean, Hbox and Axe were there -- but winning in such a downright silly way just EASILY makes that one legendary. That's my favourite for the narrative; for top 3 actual runs by quality, Cody's run is obviously in there, and EVO 2013.
What happened to PPMD appearance? he is looking kinda messy, the other GG video in where he visited a local is the same, it looks like he is going through some mental issues, i hope he gets ok.
CV: It may not be the most impressive in terms of wins and length, but Hbox's Evo 2016 run completely changed his narrative from "the guy who could clutch out sets" to "the guy who you can never count out". Even today when he's performing the worst he ever has, he was 1 frame away from resetting Zain in grands at smash con.
I def feel that we should just all together be against nintendo becuase it should just be all of us or none of us . Especially since we know that they constantly take us out at the knees just stunt the communities growth. They will never stop attacking and they will never willingly fully support. Nintendo is a console creator and game developer so smash is probably tied with the entire companies reputation more so than any other game but that isnt our fault , maybe console creators and game developers shouldn't be considered the same company.
I think zain is imo the has a better case for no. 1 because he has a similar number of high level wins and very powerful 2nd place finishes as well showing way more consistency at that peak level.also there no official worldchampionship rated tournament so it would be hard to rate a tournament higher than others outside of attendance.
CV: 1 Mango at Pound 3 2 Cody at Big House 11 3 PC Chris at Zero Challenge 3 That's one run per "era." I do think cody's run is more impressive on paper. Between opposition and the amazing storyline of contending Zain for number 1 to stop Zain's streak of best player but what the other 2 has that Cody's run didn't is that they were underdogs. You didn't win a tournament over M2k back then, and PC Chris did it on FD. Mang0's run obviously has the lose in link dittos into crazy arwing rest into the video of kid mango asking the audience "how does it feel" after he won. Sorry Cody, you're too good to be number 1 losers run. Skill diff
Sincerely appreciate all the kind comments
Cody the GOAT!!! We love you!!! ♥♥♥♥
thank you for joining us, and congrats again on the win :)
I wasn't the biggest ibdw fan but I'm huge fan of Cody Schwab
Morsecode762
You’re one of the best to ever do it man, Keep doing you
I'm convinced Plup only lost so he doesn't have to do a GG interview
I love how Cody is like "I'm trying to have fun" while having the most ruthless playstyle
Winning is fun 😂
He feeds off of opponent sadness. Those Armada shines are assassin material
Sometimes I forget Cody went to law school. You can tell he knows his stuff. I love the fact that he has a level head about all the Nintendo stuff going on. He seems pretty confident too

Cody is awesome, love the growth and hope he gets #1 hopefully this year and the next couple of years
love to see the community supporting cody more and more. great episode as always!
The Elites at GG Melee purposefully not putting timestamps so I can't skip to topics that I find interesting is extremely devious
The billfest shoutout during the cv is wild, love to see it
shoutout to JeD for that amazing question, that n0ne/toph story is a new favorite of mine

Shoutout to the boys for pulling the podcast together
im officially a cody schwab fan
Happy to see Cody win. The best unsponsored melee player.
Think he's part of Eggdog now.

Cody is great on Radio Melee he can totally come back next week 👍
Cody made a fan out of me at the Big House!
I still remember that practice session morse had with Hugs...LOL. I can imagine the pace was uncomfortable.
There are a lot of hard working Melee players, but Cody might be the hardest working of them all. Blue collar af out here doing all this work.

Work really is being done by him

So does anybody know why leffen was t at big house? He was at the boot camp with Zain, mango and Cody??
He did really well on the show
Is there anyway to still get the GG Melee Hoodie?
Someone needs to talk about TheRealThing! He's so good/interesting!
My question to Cody for this interview would’ve been: how would that 2nd set of Grands have turned out had Plup gone Samus?
My thoughts exactly
Schwabbin fr fr
these comments are horrible wth
Can you explain?

I wonder why Plup didn't try Samus against him in grants.

love cody, really cool to see him grow as both a player and a person. good shit cody he really be doing work

"why would we ever run ucf"

If Cody wins arcamelee its 100% imo

double edged sword...yeah....thats the mango
Anyone know wtf been up with PP hair lately? No hate just looks a lil wild lol

PPMD entering terrible combover territory.
THIS is the look he should've gone with when he was on Evil Geniuses
Happens to the best of us 😢
I think bro might just have wet hair
