Way back in 1989 I heard that New Grass was disbanding. Heard on the under ground that Bela was going to be intown to appear on The Lonesome Pine Special. And that he had put together a new group. Also heard that he was going to be at a small bar the night before. Went with an old buddy. It was Bela, Victor, and Futch. Futch was playing a cardboard box.Bela and Victor didn't have amps or sound system. After awhile I walked up to Bela and told him he needed to find Sam... he just smiled. Several weeks later I saw the broadcast with amps and sound system. Boy, was I wrong.😮😮😮😂😂😂😊
You haven't lived until you and the rest of the audience have applauded so much and so hard that all you have left is to stand up and slam your seat down to 'applaud'
2 things; this had to have been 1998, not 1996 because Jeff Coffin wasn't officially with the band until then. There are also several songs they played off of Left of Cool, which was released in 1998. Also, is that David Byrne interviewing them?

These brilliant dudes are the quintessential intergalactic music travelling conquistadors 🥰🫶🏻
Stomping’ Grounds, the opening chart, is among my favorites.
