I listened to an elderly lady is up to no good while driving to and from my grandparents house for christmas. It was almost the perfect length for the drive. I just put in a hold request for this one at the library; it should be available soon
Three thoughts. One: Holy heck that son is an idiot if he has a fatal allergy and just decided to eat cookies that he didn't know the ingredients of. Two: Maude is the perfect name for a seemingly unassuming old lady. Three: I couldn't help but mentally insert a laugh track every time you said, "Oh, Maude!" ☠
I think it’s a shame your positive videos don’t get as much love cause to me it’s way more interesting to see someone talk about what they love rather than hate
I legit want a campy TV adaptation of this. Romanticizing white male serial killers: broke. Romanticizing little old lady serial killers: woke. (Joking, joking.) But seriously, it would be such a great campy dark comedy series.
1:40 Granny was a lot of things, sweet old woman was not one of them 😂 Though she did use the stereotype to her advantage to smuggle a plant cutting out of Australia. Granny may be gone, but that plant is thriving in her garden
This kinda reminds me of the Thursday Murder Club books by Richard Osman, but opposite. They’re about a bunch of elderly people, including an ex CIA agent, who work together to solve unsolved crimes. They’re very easy to read and very fun. They’re SUPER popular in the UK but idk about America, I would definitely recommend them.
added this series to my tbr cuz of your videos, which i find funny since im acctually swedish. its kinda amazing being able to be recomended a series written by a author an hour away from you, by someone on the other side of the world
if you liked this collection and have never seen the play/movie arsenic and old lace, i highly recommend it. the ladies in a&ol are way less intentional than maude, but equally gruesome and comic!
I feel like I'm recommending this to everyone, but that's okay, I just finished You'd Look Better as a Ghost by Joanna Wallace, and it definitely has similar vibes. I wouldn't say it's LOL funny all the time, more ironically funny, but I think it was a good time.
This book sounds so good, I’m really interested now! I probably would have not picked it up if I had just seen the cover but this video has me invested
im just at the intro and i just keep thinking about the film "the murder at the vicarage" which is hilarious edit: also those animated lama from ages ago, "caaaaarrrrrllllll that kills people!" "oh wow, really i i i did not know that"
After watching this review, I actually signed up for a library card in the next town over because they had these books. I'm part way through the first book and, while serial killers is definitely not my thing, this is great. Thank you so much for this video and I'm sorry that the reviews where you like the book seem to get buried by the algorithm. I have you to thank for both The Perfect Crimes of Marian Hayes and Divine Rivals as well. I loved them both so much.
This reminds me of the Mrs Polifax books, which is about an old woman who is a very good spy because she's an old lady. I feel like these books are the spiritual opposite 😊😊
I'm interested because this series definitely sounds like it would be up my mum's. I'm going to have to listen to or read it and see if it's worth recommending
I loved "An Elderly Lady is Up to No Good," but I hated the sequel. There was something uncomfortable about the way the author wrote some of Maud's thoughts about other people, like Maud was just a mask for how the author judges people. I also thought the pacing was awful, and the end was lackluster for me.
I read the first one, and then passed it onto my mom who ALSO loved it. I laughed out loud more than once, will definitely be reading the 2nd one at some point! Oh, Maude.
The fact that the cover doesn’t have a cross-stitch design is SUCH a missed opportunity
As a cross-stitcher, I agree!
💯💯💯
The first one had a cross-stitch design. I wonder why they did just embroidery this time?
Yessss 😅

Maude is the Sneaky Senior Murderers She Wrote. I freaking love this, automatic TBR. ☠️☠️

Jeez, an old British friend of my mom actually gave me one of these books!

Grandma, no!
"confronting ageism in a very nonthreatening way" i'm not sure i'd call maud nonthreatening.... 😆 ☠
Lmaoooo I swear I meant thematically but yes maud is unfortunately a threat 😩😩😩
I just got the audiobook of An Elderly Lady is Up to No Good from my library. Looking forward to it even more now!
Good morning! Thank you for all your excellent videos.

I think my husband would love this. Thank you!
Omg I read the first one and LOVED IT! It was so funny to me!

You should have read gothic thriller "Voyagers of hell" instead. Its awesome.
A 2am video release? Way to go, insomnia.
Maude sounds fascinating as a character.
Oh my god…. This sounds so good though?!??
meticulously stumbling my way through life✌️✨
Lets go more Rachel 🎉😮 also I love your makeup the colors look great ⭐
Read both. Loved both. Love Maud.
Binged both yesterday. Loved them!
So glad to hear this!
i’ve been rewatching criminal minds recently and i’m just thinking about the bau investigating this old lady lol ☠️☠️☠️

I loved these books! A new concept always interests me.

My grandma was a terrible person, very hateful.
Listening to this while working on my cross stitch is excellent vibes hahah
Holy cow you're pumping out these videos. I was just thinking about your channel
I could see my grandmother being a serial killer. But, not in the haha kind of way...just the regular way.
I really want to read these! ☠️ they sounds so good!
☠
The title alone makes me want to read it haha
I like Maude. I'm getting on, so honestly #goals ☠️
I'm interested because this series definitely sounds like it would be up my mum's. I'm going to have to listen to or read it and see if it's worth recommending
love your makeup today!!

She reminds me of the Arsenic & Old Lace grannies, except blunt 😂
Maude kind of reminds me of a very odd mixture of Carl from Llamas with hats and Hannibal from Hannibal Lecter, just as an older woman
I read the first one, and then passed it onto my mom who ALSO loved it. I laughed out loud more than once, will definitely be reading the 2nd one at some point! Oh, Maude.

Babe wake up, Rachel just dropped a new video!
I read this on an airplane and it was indeed perfect for that. Bought it on a whim because of the title and it was so small and cute.
