What I love about The Walten Files is, despite it looking very cheap at parts, I think it actually works in favor of the creepy factor. Like, when it shows a drawing of a person distorted with red smudges all around it to imply they're dead, it does so much to imply carnage rather than showing realistic gore. The distorted old-timey music makes it even worse.

Honestly the 2 best moments for Vita Carnis is the intro video for the Mimic's and the child/mother falling victim to the harvester, the reason why is because of how brutal and how terrifying it is to listen/watch. Seriously i was terrified watching that first video, the 2nd video was goofier because you saw the full look of the mimic, and it kinda looked dumb, when you only got a partial look at the mimic before it lunged it was horrific. Analog horror and horror is a slightly different rabbit hole than what your typical horror buff might understand. It's slow-paced and capable of being in your face with the eerie nature of what grounds it: silence. You are given time to process the things you are shocked about, experiencing the horror at your own pace, and with how UA-cam is, you and your morbid curiosity are the only driving factor to bringing those chills to fall down your spine.
The 80s nostalgic feeling, the forgotten age atmosphere, the absence of a regular framework (no hero's journey, no character arc) the quality of acting.... The while format is verisimily creepy, you never know what to expect, it crawls into your brain. It is a great horror format, extremely effective and often of very high quality. Just excellent, I'd say addictive, as you are experiencing ahha!
It's really interesting seeing the interpretations of the mythos from someone who got into it after the season re-organization, I mean, originally the series didn't have anything to do with cornerfolk, and only later did Alex(mister manticore) reintroduce the conerfolk idea, and attach it to the mythos (originally it was a standalone video) and so seeing 4 interpret the series with the corners and reality jumping as a primer was really interesting.
You should add links for all the work you review - it’s good for other creators and also would be great to find ourselves quickly to watch. Thanks mate
Back in 1984 our family was living in Phoenix AZ and every Saturday Mom and I and sometimes a sister would go to the flea market. At one of the tables they had a box of VHS tapes. They all had masking tape on each of them with labels for movies or TV shows. The whole box was priced at 2.00$ My mom had a huge push cart so she bought the whole thing. After getting them home I wanted to see what was on them. A lot of them were too crazy in a kind of way where the tape itself was too warped to watch. Probably because of the summer sun. But in the boxes one tape played a little too well. It was a video of a woman who was handcuffed to some water pipes. She was pleading for her life and at different cuts she had either a bloody nose or a bloodier nose or blood coming from her nose and ears. We called the police and they took the tape and each time we called to see if they needed to know the date and times of the sale from the seller they claimed it was taken care of but there was nothing on the news about it.
Honestly, The Walten Files is super underwhelming for me. It feels quite cookie cutter as far as aesthetic and general idea. I do like how the voice recordings are used though. Maybe I should try to get further into it. Most people miss a lot of the details of Vita Carnis on first watch, so I definitely recommend minaxa’s videos on it if you want some thorough explanation on the slightly hidden meaning of some parts. Hella dope that you checked out Monuments Mythos. That one’s my favorite, too. It feels so different from every other analog horror I’ve seen so far. Definitely a very unique idea with surprisingly unsettling conclusions. Although I think Lincoln Looker could have been a lot more terrifying if it was a permanent/until death kinda deal
im surprised you say that walten files feels cookie cutter, for me personally i feel like the aesthetic/art style is the most unique and ambitious out of all of the popular analog horrors. but thats just me, i still see where you are coming from
The Walten Files has some good moments but it never really scared me besides Boozoo's Ghosts but the scariest series I've ever seen is Harmony and Horror made by Battington. Nothing even comes close, I think what makes it so good is that it uses terror, even the first ten seconds of the first episode have you on the edge of your seat and it only goes up from there. Also Monument Mythos is definitely my favorite out of all I've seen, it's just got such a unique story with excellent presentation.
I think it is scarier if the Lincoln looker is only for the presidential term (which stands to reason as there can only be one at a time). It means that there are maybe a dozen of them getting around America as we speak, and if you happen to cross a future president you could be next.
@@kisterdrumsah, I haven’t watched much of it. I just remember it being *veeerrrrryyyyy* reminiscent of Five Night at Freddy’s, creepypastas, and a lot of retro horror videogames, which is an aesthetic that has been overdone to death imo. I should probably watch more of it though before I make my mind up.

I've watched a lot of analog horror and none has even come close to Harmony and Horror in terms of scariness. Seriously if you don't want to sleep ever again I highly recommend it.

Analog horror and horror is a slightly different rabbit hole than what your typical horror buff might understand. It's slow-paced and capable of being in your face with the eerie nature of what grounds it: silence.
You are given time to process the things you are shocked about, experiencing the horror at your own pace, and with how UA-cam is, you and your morbid curiosity are the only driving factor to bringing those chills to fall down your spine.
you gotta see horror and harmony its the scariest.
3:14 “clearly speaking in reverse” even though you can perfectly make out what it’s saying 😭 it even has subtitles
It’s edited for the video, in the og walten files the subtitles aren’t there and it is actually talking in reverse
18:02 when I tell you I flinched SO VIOLENTLY
I now understand the term “my body took a screenshot”
It's really interesting seeing the interpretations of the mythos from someone who got into it after the season re-organization, I mean, originally the series didn't have anything to do with cornerfolk, and only later did Alex(mister manticore) reintroduce the conerfolk idea, and attach it to the mythos (originally it was a standalone video) and so seeing 4 interpret the series with the corners and reality jumping as a primer was really interesting.
Monument Mythos and the extended Mister Manticore narrative is an absolute blast
YESSS YOU WATCHED THE MONUMENT MYTHOS!
I wasn't expecting it to become my favorite one!
Welcome to the club my fyp. is full of analog horror :)
I can’t believe you chose to show that jumpscare at 18:06 you made me jump out of my seat bruh 😭
“We can put that thought away and carry on.” Very good play on the word carrion!
You should add links for all the work you review - it’s good for other creators and also would be great to find ourselves quickly to watch. Thanks mate
The Monument Mythos are the only analog horror I was able to watch fully lmao. It's really interesting, even though it loses scariness in season 3
Yeah it's not much scary in season 3 but it is still a pretty good season.
I am a Singaporean and i like many things about your video. Your high energy is one thing i wish i have. You also have a cat like i do!
i love your content thanks for another banger!
My walten files phase has turned into I’m watching every single analog horror I can now
Same!
The accidental whistle he does at 3:01 made me so scared for a moment haha
Keep digging 4! Liking the content, and a lot more analogue horror for you to discover!
YES! THE MONUMENT MYTHOS! FINALLY
I forgot all about analog horror until I found your videos.
I was expecting the thousandth video essay on walten files but this video was a nice surprise. Wasn’t incredibly roundabout
Your analog horror vids are what I needed today bc ever since I found it have not stopped lol
I would wait a good while to make a follow up video for these series to update and continue
Man is analog horror something else when done correctly
Species anomaly report is the scariest piece of media I’ve ever seen just because of the audio and visuals of a head melting
people are so god damn creative
As it was my first one, Walten changed ny world
im surprised you say that walten files feels cookie cutter, for me personally i feel like the aesthetic/art style is the most unique and ambitious out of all of the popular analog horrors. but thats just me, i still see where you are coming from
The Walten Files has some good moments but it never really scared me besides Boozoo's Ghosts but the scariest series I've ever seen is Harmony and Horror made by Battington.
I should probably watch more of it though before I make my mind up.
it's funny to me that I just saw your video "the horror I can't handle" and the next thing that pops in my recommended is this
I love long form videos thank you for making one
Am i the only one buggin with the picture at 45:50?
17:23 Don't know if you noticed, but bottom right, that's a human skull on the meat snake.
Using this vid as exposure therapy. I so badly want to appreciate the artistic skill and talent that goes into making effective horror, but for me its TOO effective. Having someone walk me through it makes it easier to consume and enjoy!
28:37 i love how the used an italian woman to tell the story, since during those years italians actually went ot he usa in search for a better life
Vita Carnis is so fucking creepy, it honestly puts Five Ni- I mean Walten Files to shame
I’d love a new Monument Mythos video!
like a-train said once "i-i can't stop. i cant stop i cant stop.. i cant stop i cant stop.."
one thing about Dean's sudden popularity is that while it was probably sinister and supernatural in nature, James Dean was an actual celebrity who died in a car crash in 1955
I love watching analog horror while I'm eating or before sleep, it hits different
analog horror has consumed my like as well
Yeah after I watched analog horror for the first time I basically couldn’t stop watching lmao
Have you already reacted to the Mandela Catalogue?
45:50 is the bit that I actually like
Oh boy my 2 favorite analog horrors in 1 video!
(I like monument mythos too but it’s not one of my favs)
Funny thing, I found the corner folk video, watched it, thought it was super cool, and liked it. Then I came back to it after me discovering analog horror and I was like
It’s from the monument Mythos?
That mimic jumpscare fucked me the hell up
I'm a cannabis farmer so the term clippings kind of takes on a different meaning and makes me think of Vita carnis slightly different because in my industry a clipping is a clone of a plant so if you look at this as like somehow being plant-based meat that's able to clone itself then it's kind of extra freaky
Monument mythos is the goat
I've watched a lot of analog horror and none has even come close to Harmony and Horror in terms of scariness. Seriously if you don't want to sleep ever again I highly recommend it.
really loved this video, i agree that it hits a certain spot in the brain. especially at night.
Yesss I totally forgot ab the last one it’s so interesting I was obsessed with it ty for reminding me it exists😭
honestly just gone down this rabbit hole, sleep is for the weak
