Fighting is an art form. It is the perfect balance of strength and control. Of speed and endurance. Of skill and focus. and this is why I have a gun. :P
I like how while he is beating up the first kid, the second one is just standing there, and you can see he's thinking something like "OH SHIT, OH SHIT, OH SHIT, THAT'S IT, I'M DEAD".
To everyone saying bruce lee and tony jaa are just actors, 1 Bruce lee was a legend in the martial arts community before he was an actor, he studied under the great sifu yip in wing chun and under many others in arts such as taekwondo. Tony jaa has studied extensively in muay boran and other arts as well. He has proven his ability. Hell, he designed his own martial art and philosophy which is now practiced worldwide, tony jaa fough without cgi or wires in the protector
Of course they can fight, nobody is arguing about that. But Tony (or any martial artist movie star, like Bruce lee, Jacki Chan etc) would get completely destroyed if they went into a ring or the octagon and fought a real pro MMA fighter. That's why they are in the MOVIES and not in the Octagon or in a Ring. Only nerds think Tony Jaa and his kind are unbeatable in the real world. High flying kicks and beautiful form will get you absolutely killed in a real fight against a pro fighter.
christian larsson Um, have you not noticed Bruce Lee is in UFC 4.. He began with street fighting and brought the uprising of staged exhibitions. I don't know what your smoking, saying he'd get "destroyed" by stepping into the octagon with UFC fighters who haven't trained nearly as hard as he.
christian larsson bro!MMA fights or UFC are limited because of the rules and regulations...but in a street fight you can hit your opponent at the fatality than cause a death.
christian larsson lol seems like we're the only guys who are not blinded by fancy kicks in movies! guys, i'm a big TJ, bruce lee and jet li fan, but they ARE more actors than fighters! and to those who say ufc is limited (and i'm not even a ufc fan, i love watching boxing and muay thai or k-1 style fights): in the ufc octagon there are only a few things not allowed. bruce lee (who was inspired by muhammad ali) would not last one round in the ring with anderson silva or buakaw banchamek.
+te0nzin u have no idea how hard and how brutal the Muay Thai environment is in Thailand. Kida train from very young age daily and brutally only to have a chance to fight in the rings. Who cares if they're crippled or even die cause they are just nobody from the slump. Tony Jaa don't get to where he is without real substance. You have no idea what he has gone through to achieve what he has today. if he is a fake, he would had been killed years ago. Many had challenge him, no one cares if a faker has been killed...
I was there. I was just a face in the crowd and one of the many who shook his hand and got a poster signed, but he seemed like a very nice dude. He stopped and smiled for every photo with a fan. If only he spoke English (his only barrier to US/mainstream media), he'd be big here.
None of us living will ever see another fighter like Bruce Lee (He was as close to myth as reality can get). But Tony Jaa is a close conciliation. He's absolutely amazing! We're lucky to live in a time where such a man exists. I hope you all appreciate his skill and mastery as much as I do.
+PurpleShy Guy Because Tony Jaa doesn't fight in the UFC doesn't make him a pushover. Look at fighters like Anderson Silva, he kicked ass a long time in the UFC.
You see when he's demonstrating his moves on his stuntmen, he's got that bruce lee flow. No traditional stance just the composure of a man waiting to react to an opponent. I know it's just an exhibition, but you can tell he's a high lvl martial artist.
but bruce lee is a smarter and much faster fighter. his philosophy is beyond amazing but tony jaa is still a great fighter. just dont think he has anything over bruce
for their time, yes. Tony's are fantastic, to be sure. You forget that one scene where he fights up a flight of stairs... all in one take; no cuts. Never seen that in a movie, ever. But, for some fantastic old old work, check out zatoichi. Beautiful long, wide sets. Incredible, when you consider the camera equipment they had to work with.
I'm not talking any shit. Tony Jaa has said in an interview that he never had any formal training. He learned Muay Boran on his own! That's remarkable!
These guys have so much to teach us westerners, not just about fighting techniques but about the whole spiritual side of it.Only thing is that most westerners wouldn't listen cos 'we already know it all'
u can't say "some some" can kick/beat "some some" fast enuff....and shdn't say bcoz everyone here worship his her own legendary actors....i respect all of those who entertained us with such hard works.
Tony Jaa does Muay Chaiya. Muay Thai (one of the most common standing styles used in MMA) was based on this, but removed the most dangerous attacks to make it more of a sport...it used to be taught to advanced muay thai practitioners but has pretty much died out because nobody sees the need to teach it when it lends nothing usable to the sport. So Tony Jaa has power, speed, Accuracy, and a variety of techniques that mma deems too dangerous. Not saying he would win, just something to think about.
MMA, Boxing, Muay Thai, Wrestling, K-1, Karate are all forms of entertainment or people wouldn't pay money to see them. They're all very good forms of self defense as well. You are right in saying that real street fighting isn't as entertaining. Most last but a few seconds.
According to Daniel Inosanto (Bruce Lee senior pupils), in the last day before Bruce death, Bruce actively studying about Malay Silat. Now, Daniel Inosanto have entered Silat as part of the subjects to his JKD
I never knew who Tony Jaa was until I watched Ong Bak 1...when I finished the movie my respect from him and Muay Thai grew. My wife came from Thailand and is a very big fan of Jaa and she knows how to KICK ASS..she knows Muay Thai and I know Wing Chun. Me and her are a great combination because we're both fighters and lovers.
I love Tony Jaa. He's young still so he has room to grow. I would like to see him in a real competition though, even though there's a huge difference between movie's and the real thing.
Ugh, I hate how people assume that because people fight (professionally) in the ring that they're master fighters in the street. Even Muhammed Ali admitted that he'd get beat up in a street fight. In a street fight all the rules of the ring don't apply. That being said, any MMA fighter or Actor is better off than a layman in the street.
some of the moves ressembles southern gung fu like white crane, hop gar and lama pai. and all his locks are seen from chi na or just some modern self defense. he mixes it very well and very creative.
@FlashySenap what I admire is the countless hours of training he put in to get to this level. that dedication and self-discipline should be admired by anyone.
Yer thats true, i do jujitsu and have been for 6 years now and i love it. We do both standing (Throwing and defence) and ground work so it covers both genres. :)
I think what makes Tony Jaa so unique is that he has no formal martial arts education. He just learned on his own. To be that skilled with no education is truly a remarkable feat.
Ever watch the videos of him doing his tricks like snatching pennies from your hands and leaving a nickel? Or lighting flying match heads with nunchucks?
Yea, he was only the first Chinese International Action hero to change a generation of kids and make a turning point in race relations. He built the foundation for Karate schools everywhere. Don't mistake charisma for arrogance. Being humble doesn't always enable you to make such international waves. Only the Dali Lama has such reach.
B Lee had only one fight which is on youtube.. against one of his students...if he fought a real fighter he would have got badly hurt. Great philosopher but thats it.. just because he trained with Masters doesnt make him great..I trained with some hugely well known fighters and im crap..or a master in my own mind.
if you dont know it .... do not said like this... i'm Thai.... i will translate for you ... Muay = Fighting or Boxing Boran = Ancient MuayBoran = Ancient Fighting and was create buy ancient Thai peoples which fight on the battlefield Tony Jaa is one many Thai Fighter who Mastered it ... that is

No he's not. MMA and fighting are very different. A perfect fighting machine would be able to kill, rather than submit and knock out. There are big differences between MMA and practical fighting. Also a lot of similarities. I would point of Krav Maga, FMA, Escrima etc. Which are very practical.
Bruce lee p0sseses 9 w0rld rec0rds in martial art superi0rity ,,like the 0ne inch punch, the fastest kick an punch 0f all time ..the 400 hundred c0unt push up using just tw0 fingers each hand.. h0w ab0ut t0ny jaa ,what d0es he have?
i dream of seeing him in the UFC just to know how he would do watching him fight for real would be amazing :)
🙏🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍💯💯💯👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😍😍😍😍
bruce lee tony jaa, jet li, ip man are all masters of their art i have the upmost respect for them
Fighting is an art form. It is the perfect balance of strength and control. Of speed and endurance. Of skill and focus. and this is why I have a gun. :P
Go Revive Yourself excellent. ...
That's why most Americans can't fight for shit, thanks Mr Colt haha
Lol
Spoken like a true white man, and i think havin a gun is cool. coz in real life none of the martial art shit matters if u have a gun. You win...
I like how while he is beating up the first kid, the second one is just standing there, and you can see he's thinking something like "OH SHIT, OH SHIT, OH SHIT, THAT'S IT, I'M DEAD".
The way he propelled his body in the air to make that kick O.O mind blown.
Yup and NO wires!
love this man so humble

This account still active 15 years later?
Awesome! I love Muay Boran. You can really see the southern kung fu influence mixed with the thai style. Very nice.
I was there. I was just a face in the crowd and one of the many who shook his hand and got a poster signed, but he seemed like a very nice dude. He stopped and smiled for every photo with a fan. If only he spoke English (his only barrier to US/mainstream media), he'd be big here.
seems like an all around nice guy.
The Master Fighter Tony Jaa
tony jaa is cool he is a fun guy

None of us living will ever see another fighter like Bruce Lee (He was as close to myth as reality can get). But Tony Jaa is a close conciliation. He's absolutely amazing! We're lucky to live in a time where such a man exists. I hope you all appreciate his skill and mastery as much as I do.
Well fucking said!
In future, we'll have another legend that was inspired by Jaa, and so it goes.
+PurpleShy Guy Because Tony Jaa doesn't fight in the UFC doesn't make him a pushover. Look at fighters like Anderson Silva, he kicked ass a long time in the UFC.

Yeah, I would love to see him compete in UFC. Tony Jaa is awesome.
this guy is real.. wonder how Bruce lee moves.. too bad no ppl record want to see bruce lee in his prime

AWESOME video! I think true martial artists can still appreciate this even learning from another system.
u can't say "some some" can kick/beat "some some" fast enuff....and shdn't say bcoz everyone here worship his her own legendary actors....i respect all of those who entertained us with such hard works.

if icould do this i would leave school and search for a fight club downtown.
tony jaa is a very special guy, and its not because his martial arts, is his personality.
it would be amazing if he would fight in a mma cage for once and show how effective muay boran is
@Kemo72000 that's a good comparison I like it. Tony Jaa is a monster!
