My Maruthi Celerio automatic top end in very good condition less Km driven 4 yrs old non flooded there was no direct buyers for reasonable quoted price. I bought this for 6 lakhs on road in 2017. But there was no takers even though it has good resale value. I waited for 3 months and then gave it to dealer for lesser price though I know it’s real value. I upgraded to premium SUV so gave for exchange. It was then sold in 2nd market for 4.5L - 5 lakhs by dealer. Just 1 lakhs is depreciation for Maruthi products in seconds market for 4.5 yrs old good condition less driven with company service record cars. Don’t know why serious direct buyers not trying to get from original direct owner instead of dealers by paying more. Because of this dealers are playing in this market.
My kind advise to viewers- If you are concern about Resale value then go for Toyota, Maruti, Hyundai, Kia, Honda. Their engines and service are gem.
Because true value gives assurity & we don't trust random people right? Donno if it is really nonflooded or if no issues are present.
Resale is secondary. Buying should not be based on resale. That is Indian mentality

I have Etios 2019 model T board. Oil consumption problem erunthuthu but warranty claim la engine rework pannita. Ippo oil consumption ellai. Etios oru naal car boot space is equal to jetta (595ltr). Toyota maintanence paththi solla thevai ella. Sinthetic oil tha use panra service bill 4.5k thaa. And one more thing resale market la ippo sema value, the price is equal to a new car.
Trust me Innova is just a gem! Yes, It's slower and often underpowered in today's standards. But the joy it gives when we drive is unexplainable! ❤

Bought skoda rapid 2020 model for 13,00,000/- rs drove it for 1,60,000 kms . Last week I sold it for 8,60,000/- rs

A story from abroad:
Yesterday we went on a 800km road trip on a 2012 toyota aqua hatchback hybrid which had done 159,000km.
My friend got it for 5 lakh INR (equivalent in foreign currency) when the car had done 110,000 km. The car’s engine still had amazing pick up and except for a few rattles in the dashboard (which I assume is because the car was built to a budget and is aged), the car was rock solid and drove well when fully loaded with no struggle.
The formula: just service the car regularly at recommended time interval (every 10k km or 1 year whichever is earlier) and do basics- change of oil filter; engine oil, brake pads/disc and tyres when needed, and ocassionally a fused bulb.
That’s all. Works amazingly fine. Can easily go 300,000km, deliver 23km/l efficiency.
Now the going rate is for his car is close to 7.5Lakh INR equivalent.
In overseas markets, Toyota, Honda, and GMC are considered the most reliable cars. Nissan comes in second. The Nissan Pathfinder, even on highways, achieves a mileage of around 3.5 to 4.5. However, I appreciate its engine sound, which is like a satisfying roar. It adds a personal touch to your driving satisfaction.

After seeing your reviews and chats about Ignis, recently I have sourced one Ignis AMT in 2024 make. As the future engines of Suzuki is going to be more concern for mileage rather then performance, the current 1.2 LT dual jet VVT engine of Ignis is going to be the last of its kind for the on road performance and mileage altogether. Really it's an underrated product of Suzuki.
Asir - Your point on EVs are a spot on...The current technology as well as charging of EV are actually more damaging to environment than ICE engines. I would rather drive a refined/economical NA Petrol engine like Honda iVTEC that is actually less harmful for environment. Maybe a reliable Turbo for extra feel good but thats about it.

I am driving a ertiga zxi top end manual. Many said it is a slugish engine. But I felt it is highly agile and overtakes most vehicles. I have driven at 120 km/h and also the acceleration is not bad. It is one of the best engines available in the market today. Not slugish at all under any standards.
Nice explanation on ev pollution. Yes absolutely emissions are more in ev during manufacturing and disposal. People can buy ev who doesn’t love to hear the engine noise.

I was having 2016 model Swift LXI Optional petrol. Bought it for 5.8 lakhs. Driven 90k kms. Sold it for 3.9 Lakhs

Bolero resale value is peak. 10 year old model with 1L+ kms still goes for 5-6L, which was close to exshowroom price at that time

Previously Bolero with 2.5L will add to the list. We didn't mention it as now it's having a 1.5L , 3 cylinder engine

For all cars in this podcast discussion, is it applicable for both automatic and manual variants?
Will the engine be reliable irrespective of the driving method/skill if we do the service periodically?
We can see old TATA indica and bolt cars being used as cabs doesn’t it mean reliable? and why not Maruti alto is in the cars list?
General doubt:-
Can we use yellow board second hand cars for general day to day purpose? and will it come against the law?
Some engines are made for reliability as you said Tata bolt, zest and Maruti swift as well ertiga ( old generations ) shares same fiat multi jet diesel engine so they engine is more reliable.
For second question don't use taxi permit vehicle only for personal use because it's already over done ( minimum 2 L km in odometer) so don't prefer it for personal use
Law permits it but Insurance and Fitness certificate costs too high for taxi.
Reliability will be depending on driving nature, prompt service quality etc.
