I bought a bunch of wash cloths in a package at Wal Mart years ago, I use them for every cleaning job (except the toilet) and wash them in a load of laundry. It saves me from buying paper towels. Or cut up old clothes into rags to use for cleaning.
I used to be a nurse, and I have my own blood pressure cuff and stethoscope and I check my husband’s BP regularly! 👍🏻 We have kept most of our dvd movies that we love. If dishnet goes out, we can watch those movies. I always make coffee from home and tomorrow, am having friends over for a breakfast brunch. So much cheaper than eating out and we’re not rushed out of a restaurant. 2 evenings a week I go over to an elderly friends’ home (1/4 mile away) and we work puzzles and share frugal ways. 😊 She finds puzzles at thrift stores and yard sales for $1 each. I pick up some too when I’m out and about.
I personally haven't done this, but I heard someone say that once you get your car paid off, use the payment (or even a portion of the payment you were previously making on the car) to start saving to pay cash for the next car that you may need in the future.
I love the TIGHTWAD GAZETTE. All 3 volumes of it are great and I managed to find all 3 in one volume at a thrift shop . I often read it excerpts of it. Yes there are some things that may be outdated but still it is chocked full of great tips. I first saw the author on the Phil Donahue show many years ago and she was so informative. I was very impressed with her.
Hello Dawn, Excellent video. To answer your question, we don’t have a tv. Instead we have a projector and we use it with our electronic devices. That way, we don’t pay for cable. I have an iPhone 8 that we purchased in 2018. I had the battery replaced at the Apple Store for $49 in 2022 and it still works fine for my needs.
We don’t go out to eat, don’t pay for cable, don’t buy coffee out and happily stay home most of the time! We want to eliminate bills so this is how we choose to live to achieve our goals
We almost never buy coffee away from home. Got rid of cable a few years ago and went to antenna for the local channels and I do a ton of UA-cam streaming. During COVID I got into jigsaw puzzles and mostly buy them at thrift stores or on super closeout because new ones are stupid expensive. My dishwasher quit a couple years ago and I haven't looked back because washing by hand doesn't bother me. I use an outside line for sheets and heavy stuff, and a wooden clothes rack for things I don't put in the dryer. I buy very little packaged food and do a lot of cooking with almost no waste. We are all doing our part if we're watching channels like yours. :)
Hi, Dawn-I have my own exercise equipment including a treadmill. My “gym” is open 24 hours, 7 days a week and I never have to wait in line to use a piece of equipment. I have just made my my 1st sourdough starter and that will save me money by adding to my “homemaking skills.” I am also teaching myself to sew and will be making my Christmas gifts with a large amount of fabric that I have inherited. I love being frugal and enjoy my life very much.
For at home entertainment, we have a lot of options for free and low cost entertainment An extensive board game collection. We have about 60, and rotate what we bring to the table regularly. Puzzles, and audio books. We regularly listen to audio books and work on a puzzle. Great shared experience. Always ready to pause and discuss. Outdoor movies. We made a drive in movie screen in our yard. I make popcorn on the burner of the grill and we stream something. Comfortable patio furniture and warm clothes. We can use it all year thanks to a fan and a propane heater. Bird watching - Amazing. The abundance of wildlife in our area is astounding. Teaching the dogs something. Builds strong bonds between us and them. They love agility and even my oldest girl at 14 can still do the tunnel and chute. You have to drop everything and clap though or she gets mad.😂

Dawn, you got a good deal on that ground beef! Good place to store it! You're a great saver! I save my frozen vegetables & items in my small deep freezer! But, what I truly saved money on is my electricity! I donate and purchase items from Habitate For Humanity Restore Place. About 8 years ago, I purched a box of Max Lite Home Spiral Lites, for $5.00. There are 4 lights in each package. That blessing of 60 watts lights gives off 900 watts. I also gave out lights to family, friends and neighbors! Each lights last for 5 years. Also Dawn, I thank you for telling me about those Stone bathroom mats. I was at Sams a couple of months ago and they had the Members Mark Anti Fatigue mats on sale half off for $7.00! They had different colors. I purchased some for bathroom, kitchen and laundry room! They're so comfortable to stand on and easy to clean! I've replaced my rugs in my bathroom! I saved money by not washing them every week. I also use a foldable grabber to for things around my home too! It's easier to pick up things with and to reach the high shelfs! Until next time!!💡🤗❤
I wish we were neighbors 😊😅❤ I have a old book that belonged to my grandma "Living on a shoestring" by the Tightwad twins. I reread it every 6 months to a year. I'm going to pass it down to my daughter eventually ❤
I save by owning a carpet cleaner, which is handy (especially with pets) and MUCH cheaper than paying a company to do them, especially since our whole house is carpeted. It even has an upholstery attachment for furniture and stairs. I do my own yard work/landscaping, so have a lawnmower, garden tools, an electric hedge trimmer and sawz-all, as well as a powerwasher for the siding, deck and driveway and a leaf blower for the fall leaves. Various tools for small repairs around the house (and free u-tube videos) save on a LOT of projects and maintenance. Buying a 16' ladder means I can clean my own gutters (a 15 minute job) and saves $100 every time I do it! Just wish I had a garage to store all of it - LOL!
Hi, Dawn, 1. my freezer, I get lots of veggies and fruit from our garden and some from neighbors 2. my 'dryer' for fruit, herbs and veggies 3. my library ( big bookworm here📚🐛). 4. Thrift shop for clothes. 5. Cooking from scratch, using my cook books. Love, Monika ❣
I put everything on plug strips and turn them off when not using them, including the TV as we don’t watch it often. The TV and the microwave especially, use phantom power when turned off. I hang my clothes outside as often as possible. It uses less power and my clothes smell wonderful and don’t wear out as fast. Our cars are five speeds so I take off from stops gently and anticipate stops and coast as often as I can do it safely. It saves a ton of gas. I tried to plan my errands to save time and money. I use lots of fans in the summer and dress warm in the winter. We have a water filter that we hooked up to the faucet so we don’t have to buy bottled water. It was less than $100 on Amazon and pay for itself. I find replacement heads for my Oral-B electric toothbrush at places like Marshalls or TJ Maxx for a fraction of the brand name and they work just as well. They also have replacement heads for sonicare sometimes.
Sonicare toothbrush is life changing. I was able to get replacement when mine died at Bed Bath and Beyond on a Black Friday sale for $15. This was the original model. I never have plaque or tartar at the dentist. Plus I floss religiously. You can find cheap sonicare toothbrushes. The heads are cheapest at Costco and this is worth the membership alone. Good luck! Be careful with dental tools. You can damage your teeth. I enjoy your channel!

I scope out clearance sections in grocery and other stores like Target and Walmart. In summer I p!ace a small fan about six feet away from me, set on low, to circulate cool air and so I can feel a slight breeze. This keeps me from getting cranky since I'm very sensitive to heat and humidity. My money savers are coffee at home, no subscription TV services, making my own muffin and waffle mixes, using a small space heater in winter to keep the general heat set lower. I work from home no eat out no extra spending on lunch hour no gas no wear on my car. I have a big drying rack for clothes last much longer except jeans and towels in dryer and do laundry every other week full loads. Use a tablespoon of laundry soap and light on temperature of washer the machine . Hang my clothes also on hangers on shower curtain rod. Live in Flordia temperature 79 or 80 in the house we have 2 stage heat pump my husband put in! We keep are new wood fence stain others don’t stain in Flordia they just rot
When I see first 80 degree day I turn off air ... no air/heat for a while. Finally, electric bill half. It's been exorbitant!

We have one under the dog water bowl because my 5 collies are slobs and let the last mouthful fall out vs swallowing it. They are twits sometimes. 😂
@@christines2787 Cherish them and their faults. My lil dogs are gone and what I would give for 5 minutes.
@suecook8379 - We do! They are wonderful family members. They are all related, cousins or half sibs. They had a grandfather with the water dropping trait and it appeared to be genetic.

I have a hot water thermo pot that keeps my water hot whenever I need it. I only need to refill it once a day.

Sadly, they do not make VCR / DVD players anymore, and mine is broken. I'm leery of buying a refurbished one, but that's the only choice I have.
