Fun fact about Zorc: the ritual monster is based on the first time bakura shows up in the manga. They all play DND with him as the DM, and Zorc is the demon king in that one shot. Dark Master even abbreviates to DM. That’s also probably why the effect involved a die as well.
Surely it would make more sense then for a D20 effect. Yes ik that no one bar a D&D player is showing up to a tournament with a D20, but honestly there's more chance of that than someone using the card in their deck.
Seosamh Rooney unfortunately it’d probably be a d10 because in the “dark RPG” that they play in the manga, they had 2d10s instead of a d20 for percentages
@ULGROTHA per my understanding The 2D ones are based off of various mythological animals, famous scientists, and the 3Ds are a mix of Conquers and Kings in histroy and myth/legends, then the color coded final bosses rolled in and went EDGE^5 and made Abyss Ragnarok seem normal and not edgy.
Except link dragon specifically requires 5 monsters so not only do you have to give up 4 more monsters, you have to factor in the monsters used to summon doriado
Someone won a Shonen Jump (what we used to call YCS's for the zoomers out there) main decking Dark Master Zorc. It was the Demise ritual deck that played vanilla bugs to send off ARA as fodder for Doom Dozer. (That's the deck that got ARA limited for all those years.)
Not exactly. Some Ritual Monsters have the phrase "Must first be Ritual Summoned by (insert specific ritual spell here)". Unless the generic ritual spells ignore that and I missed the time where they added that to the rulings.
Since you said ritual monsters are practically fusion monsters in the main deck, I realized something: The theory/trade off was likely that you chose to run 2 specific monsters and polymerization for the chance to use the fusion any time you draw the very specific pieces(since every old fusion is 1 specific monster + another specific monster), or use the rituals that require an extra card in your hand, but the other monsters can be anything that gets more levels.
Yup, in a way Ritual Monsters were actually easier to use back then compared to the old Fusion Monsters. Sadly, while Fusion Monsters got a giant push in consistency, modern Ritual Monsters are not that much better than the old ones in terms of consistency. The main draw back is always the fact that you need to draw both the Ritual Spell and Ritual Monster. If you could Ritual Summon directly from the Deck, that would be much easier.
@@davinator1212 No Dave, that's the alcohol talking. It's fine. Don't forget that it's needed for your best deck... Chaos Max. Obviously the new tier zero deck!
I think that Salamangreat received this curse- I mean a ritual monster because Season 01 of VRAINS only used LINKS, and in Season 02 they vomited out the other summoning mechanics (EXCEPT Pendulums, they were told to go home) at a rapid pace that Emerald Eagle got green lit before they realized it sucked, and wasn't seen again outside of its debut appearance....

Hey Dave, you can sound proof your room or at least your window with (cheap) with egg carton or cardboard carton shaped by tacking/taping/screwing on the wall/window. It keeps the sound not only from bouncing around off your walls but prevents sound penetration
Salamangreat Emerald Eagle is good for getting rid of monsters stronger than it, like 5 headed dragon. Litmus Doom Swordsman was in GX by Bastion in episodes 22, 82 & 84
New tech: play the divine bird in Lyrulisc to turn the fusion monster into level 12 for a turn deal 6000 burn and have your opponent bow to you in awe for drawing a ritual spell, a level 8, enough other levels to summon that level 8, and a level 12 in the same turn in a level 1 spam deck.
I do wonder if Crab Turtle was a bad ritual monster when it came out. I can understanding wanting to limit it to only effect ritual monsters to make it more interesting, but I do wonder what the worst one without an effect is.
What's kind of neat I guess is you can use lightserpent for a ritual summon tribute if lightserpent is in your hand and its effect to summon itself from graveyard will activate so you can get a free monster on board.
Way back in the day, like before Synchro summons, I had a deck with a decent amount of wins based on Normal monsters that ran Lycanthrope and Cu Chulainn. It was just a bunch of tough normal monsters (1900 ATK 4 stars, 2500 - 2600 ATK 56 or 6 stars and 2900 - 3000 ATK 8 stars), stuff like Non-spellcasting area, Justi-Break and Curse of Anubis. Advanced Ritual Art let me get out the ritual monsters and dump stuff in the graveyard. Cu Chulainn was pretty useless, the only sort of cool thing was if she banished a Blue-Eyes and kept the attack through the opponents turn, but Lycanthrope did ok. It was a fun deck at the time
Ritual Monsters in the Duelist Kingdom arc could be Special Summon from the Deck as well as the hand. Would they be better if that were the case in real life?
It would be better, just by proxy of not having to be drawn. But at that point, they might as well be in the extra deck, just so they don't take up space in your main deck. Honestly, I don't see any reason why they shouldn't be extra deck material. Just put in a new ruling, and send out some erratas.
Tetrogre has some really bad combos with cards like Macro Cosmo and other related cards if you were to call Monster and kill the opponents entire combo. I did say that this combo was really bad
Zorc's appearance is based on the first Shadow Game in the Manga and the Toei Anime where they were playing a Tabletop fantasy RPG and Yami Bakura was the DM. So while it is Bakura's Monster, it was never a card in the Yugioh Duel Monsters. The Card's effect is a reference to Tabletop games.
Fun Fact: Dark Master Zorc is indeed a Monster used by Bakura. He uses the Monster in Season 0 as the Final Boss of the Dungeons and Dragons Board Game. This is also the Reason for Zorc's Ability to Roll a Dice and activate the Effects depending on the Results.
Lollll nooooooo, my girl Doriado made the list!! At least she’s at the #10 spot tho. She was the first ultimate rare card I ever got, so the card has a special place in my heart hahaha.
Actually I've seen that play in decks that have abilities based on what attribute is on the field ie elementsaurs since number 10 is omni attribute you can get both attribute effects active
Zorc the dark one divine attribute divine beast monster with 5000 Atk & Def Divine Hierarchy: 2.5 player that controls this card can only lose the duel by a monster of greater divine Hierarchy's effect & can't leave the field, except by a monster of equal or greater Divine Hierarchy's attack. Note: all Divine monsters' effects are counted as attacks, as revealed in the Yugioh R manga, highest known Divine Hierarchy is 2 with Ra & Avatar, Holactie, Sacred Beasts & Aesir are unknown. It can be assumed Holactie is 3, due to being the combined form of the egyptian gods, thus stronger than them.
one interesting intereaction with tetroogre is that since he is lvl 6 you can call monster and if your opponent doesnt negate it you can send malicious tot he garve to make a rank 6
Doom Litmus Swordsman works beautifully with floodgates, or for stealing your opponent's Impermanences to use against them, plus the "can't die in battle" thing can be useful. Added bonus: Its Ritual Spell can shuffle it and itself back into your deck to draw a card, so your searchers would never be dead. The only real trick with it is finding a deck to run it in.
@@frankwest5388 Pretty much. I myself use it in Timelords due to its synergy wtih their Trap lineup. -Sac a Timelord for the Ritual Summon to give the first 2 their "level up" effects. -Recover the traps when destroyed. -Gives Timelords a Battle Damage option in case the opponent has an out to burn.
Hey, not gonna lie. Venue, Bright Bird Of Divinity kinda pretty good. Love the fact you can regain the resources from your graveyard. For.................other strategy methods.
The problem with Emerald Eagle's on-summon effect isn't that it's a "when...you can" effect since, as far as I can tell, there are no speed 2 ritual summoning effects that can summon it. Dark Magician, Megalith, and Ruin and Demise have that honor. The issue is that get that effect you need to use another copy on the field. Luckily its ritual spell can summon a copy from the hand if destroyed by the opponent and it can use tribute fodder from the GY by shuffling it back if you control a fire link. You probably should have factored in the alternate summon conditions and non-ritual-summon effects of the required ritual spell as some of them improve upon the respective monster like the above with Eagle, Litmus and Cycle of the World's recycling effect, and Primal Cry's revival effect.
Interesting to note: the #1 card is actually the ace card of one of early stage standard duelist decks which is it plus a bunch of level 4 normals with 1500 ATK. I was kinda annoying early on since you couldn't beat over it easily, but now you can get out cards with 3k ATK in one turn so... The bigger insult might be that a higher stage deck is basically the same thing, but they replaced the Ritual monster with Order to Charge, Birthright and Heart of the Underdog to make a more annoying bad deck.
I cannot express how glad I am that you looked up how to properly pronounce "Cú Chulainn", that annoyed me so much 4 years ago. I also appreciate that you don't care about your Irish heritage, because the Americans that do be like "Oh, well my dad's sister's uncle's dog's friend's cousin was Irish, so I'm Irish too", even though they've never even been to Ireland are just so annoying.
I'm honestly willing to give Litmus Doom Swordsman a bit of credit for being a GX anime card. It honestly has a bit of potential and hell, at least it has that unique effect of setting ANY trap card from either player's GY, so it's not limited in the way something like Traptrick is, so you could grab back a floodgate your opponent had to pop to get to him or even one of their's. If nothing else, he's arguably a better card than some that you mentioned before him and there's probably a weird anti-anti-meta deck you could make with him.

Vennu was actually in a tier 1 deck, in ocg a BA deck topped with Vennu and did better then Normal BA would so I gotta give credit to him for that. And he has debatably the best Ritual spell in the game
To me, ritual summoning is the coolest concept in the game, as far as the "lore" or whatever you would call that goes. It's honestly one of the reasons why I keep being interested in it (obviusly not the only one though, that would be torture). Also, I still cannot understand why in the world they decided to make Ruin, the one based around battle destruction, have less ATK than Demise, the one based around effect destruction.
Because in "theory" you would do more battle damage to your opponent with Ruin's double attack than you would with Demise getting one direct attack (after nuking the bord).
Sameeeeee. This has been how I felt since I was a kid. Ritual monsters to me always had that air of mystery surrounding them. They were the best looking cards in terms of color back in the day, and are STILL the best looking blue bordered cards. That’s right Links, I’m calling you out....ugly ass arrow boys. 🤷♂️😂
Vennu was actually pretty decent when synchros first came to Duel Links...admittedly, that's not the TCG/OCG, but it's still technically a YGO format. But yeah...level modulation in a format with very few good tuners, but some decent synchros, is actually worth using.
Fun fact about Zorc: the ritual monster is based on the first time bakura shows up in the manga. They all play DND with him as the DM, and Zorc is the demon king in that one shot. Dark Master even abbreviates to DM. That’s also probably why the effect involved a die as well.

Funny cause i had decks focusing on more than half of these back on the psp in the tagforce days lol
Tetrogre's existence just makes me more sad that the 2 good lvl 6 gishki are both limited.
Reshef of Destruction, with the strange DREAM Attribute.
Although it still doesn't macke it good, Lycanthrope can be put into a Gemini deck since they are treated as Normal monsters in the GY
Vennu was actually pretty decent when synchros first came to Duel Links...admittedly, that's not the TCG/OCG, but it's still technically a YGO format. But yeah...level modulation in a format with very few good tuners, but some decent synchros, is actually worth using.
