There are also times when you have to provide your own boots, socks, gloves and in rare occasions your own flak jacket (sometimes available in surplus stores around Edmonton just before deployment).
You cannot expect the military to be able to afford tampon machines for the men’s washrooms AND bullets too.
There are no tampon machines. They just sit in a plastic box in every DND bathroom, and they’re free.

They were the most feard soldiers because most of the soldiers at the time of WW2 were the sons of farmers. People who grew up on the land, could shoot a rifle effectively, were crazy strong and capable of eunduring hardships very few others could. I very mych doubt that a Chechnian rebel fighter would fear "Lance" from Brampton with his purple hair, long fingure nails and multiple pronouns.
It is illegal for the military to publicly criticize the government. Won't find it in the Criminal Code, but the National Defence Act.
The highest rank in the military is politician. The minister of national defence.

I think Americans should be very concerned with Canada right now. We share their longest border and we are becoming a weakness in that we cannot defend ourselves (much less them). If you go back in time militay funding started to decline in 1968 when dady Trudeau was in power. All governments since then have not deemed it a pirority. That goes for Liberals and Conservative governments.

You are correct, both governments have failed our armed forces. If Canadians truly believe in a sovereign nation and not rely on the Americans to save us (no disrespect to any Americans) we, as a nation must demand government honor their pledge to NATO of the minimum of 2% of GDP. Cut the useless social programs (too many to list) and the bloated bureaucracy created by the liberals who actually believe by divine right that they are the only party to lead Canada!

I don't know why anyone would want to join our military. It is absolutely shameful how they are treated and taken care of. These soldiers are our first line of defense. Canada needs to do better.
I volunteer at a veterans food bank and I am disheartened on how this government AND the Conservatives governments have treated those who served during the Afghan war. Some of the veterans are actually homeless and one was actually evicted from their apartment because they served in the military and Canada’s role in the Rwandan genocide (their landlord was a Hutu btw). I told him to file a Human Rights complaint but he said it was not worth the effort because he believes that the investigation, like many under this regime will go nowhere.

I have always been on the side that mandatory military service is great for teaching young citizens about loyalty and responsibility, on top of essential life skills. Not under this government- never ever.

According to current firearm regulations, the military must store its ammunition separately from firearms. It's a bad idea storing ammunition in the States.

So the only ammunition plant that made replacement rounds for the 155 and 120 artillery closed because this government canceled that yearly contract for supplying those rounds. Canada gave away 80% of our stock of those shells to Ukraine and now the Armed Forces can not maintain training on those guns. The closed plant employed 120 people and now Canada has to out source this ammunition from already maxed out production in other parts of the world.

The military has been underfunded since the late 1960s. The army has no air defence systems whatsoever, no attack helicopters, our tanks are dwindling and they are short of boots. The Air Force is still flying fighter planes bought in the 1980s, utility helicopters that are nearly as old, no drones with any offensive capability, and not enough air left capability. The Navy has been reduced to 12 aging frigates, 4 essentially useless submarines; no destroyers with command and control capabilities or long rang air defence, no sealift capability. Canadians by and large don’t care about national defence because of our proximity to the United States. A country with a weak warrior culture that has been diluted even more by the DEI Liberals.
Look at Australia, very similar country to us in many respects and what their military has to work with. Night and day because they take their defence seriously and it’s not treated as a political game.
And we've had Prime Ministers from both sides of the aisle in that time and nobody fixed it. That should tell you something.

In BMQ, I had to pay $485 for room and board. If any kit was lost, replacement would be paid by the recruit. I had old leather gloves, with wool finger glove to go in them. A pack from 1963, kit returned to depot because the members did not use them, and they needed them at BMQ for training of new recruits. No trucks, planes, attack helicopter, no aircraft carrier, with F15 EX, and F35B aircraft. F35A on order. Type 26 frigates on order. Twelve South Korean Lithium battery subs on order. Two Artic patrol ships, two supply support ships. Norman lost his career defending the contruction of the first supply ship, for without it there would be no navy. Senator combat fighting vehicles off the assembly line given to Ukraine, instead of our forces in Latvia. Soldiers have to pay for food expenses in Latvia, helmets, body armour. Kit they should already should be issued with. Not enough tanks, artillery, no drones. We finally procured SIG P320 pistols, although the CZ-P10F could have be supplied by Colt Canada, cheaper, and a better pistol due to the lower bore axis, but the newest 1911, or 2011 pistols, or the newest Canik TTI Combat Pistol, with red dot, mag well, and barrel compensator, flat falce 90 degree trigger, would have been the cats meow also. With Sig pistols it sets us up to getting there Sig MCX Spear 6.8x51 assault rifle, and the XM250 belt fed light machine gun. One could go on.

Unfortunately the Liberal government despite its leaders have done a terrible job funding our military! I recall when PM Chrétien decided to buy the 4 mothballed British Victoria class submarines about 20 years ago, this was a terrible decision because they procrastinated buying them until these subs were mothballed and cut apart. This shows you their indecision about military spending, these subs have been a disaster! At any given time only one of these subs is in the water while the other three are being repaired 🤦♂️. Had they bought them when the British first decided to mothball them then these subs could have been great for Canada since they were advanced and very new but the Chrétien government delayed in making a decision till the subs were removed from service and cut apart. It’s extremely difficult to put together something as advanced as a submarine once it’s cut apart and put in storage.
The subs were traded from the UK to Canada for the 900 million owed Canada for use of military bases and airfields in Labrador used in training the UK airforce
The Canadian military has been bad for decades, so the issue is a systemic one. But in the more pressing terms of here and now about ammunition stocks like bullets, anti-tank rockets, 155mm artillery shells, the reason why the CAF now has nothing is because Trudeau has given everything away to the fascist regime in Kiev. Encouraged of course by Freeland who is not Canadian, but has loyalty to Kiev.

The way our government handles military procurement, it will probably take them ten years to appoint the committee that studies what bullets to purchase, they will deliberate for another 7 years and then buy a bunch of 1950s stock from Australia, or whoever wants to get rid of a bunch of old trash.

Here are the correct answers to the questions asked, 1, the CAF has been in shambles for a very long time. Canadians for the most part do not care about having a well funded military. 2, The CAF BRASS is far more interested in their own intrests and securing their next promotion than they are in having a functional fighting force. Any soldier who takes a stand agianst the political class is very shortly disposed of and dissapeard.. 3, Why are military leaders not leaving? A lot of them are leaving. In fact, soldiers who CAN do someting else end up leaving before their time. The people who stay on are lifers who could not last a week working at Mc Donald's.
So if the government, that you serve, says go to war against Canadian civilians ,who do you serve? Calling out the government that would put out military and civilians at risk should be the job.

Uh No..Former Canadian Navy Reservist Sub-Lt Kevin Vuong knew he had *criminal charges* against him in 2021 and sought fit to conceal and *not* inform his OC(Officer Commanding). His five hundred dollar fine only underscores that in the Canadian Armed Forces, there's definitely different spanks for different ranks. The fact that Vuong's charges were dropped doesn't go to his claims of innocence, it goes to what the Crown's prospects for conviction actually are. His choice of 'facts' in this case, are as selective as mind-set will allow. A so-called 'independent' that might as well be one of Trudeau's best friends..

It’s not bullets but all elements of the CDN military. No new uniforms, and ancillary equipment, no new firearms (military until recently was still using 50 yr old handguns, no ordinance such as grenades, shoulder fired rockets etc. Then we get to vehicles, all of which are outdated. No tanks. And the airforce. Well the Snowbirds are retiring as the 50 yr old jets simply no longer have any parts available and the airframes are timed out. Reg Air Force…also timed out F-18’s, last batch we bought were nearly timed out when we got them. Also no ordinance for the F-18’s. Remember the Chinese balloon soaring over western Canada. Shot down for us by an American jet. Navy….also decades behind. The few we have are literally death traps and they too are timed out. None are fighting capable. Nothing more than floating watchtowers. But when you have a DEI farce of a military, why would you even want to attempt to arm them. The military needs to be overhauled from the top down and all new made in North America gear and equipment issued. Until that happens…Canada is UNARMED!!!
When I was in the CF back in the 80's, PET did budget cuts to the military every single year. When we were on exercise, we would get issued like 40 rounds (blanks, and sometime a bit more, often times less) for the day. Of course, we would blow through that in a few minutes after our first "contact". After that we would just yell "BUDGET CUT" every time we fired. Sounds like it's even worse under this guy........... disgusting.

I am a retired Veteran with over 38 Year’s Service and I would like to clarify a few things regarding this issue.
The problem is that the vast majority of Canadians do not understand what the true role of a Military is, over the past Decades they have been sold a Liberal/Socialist Lie about Peacekeeping and have this illusion that a Canadian Soldier is a Quote "Peacekeeper' Nothing more.
As a result they have allowed Weak, Cowardly Socialists to degrade and undermine the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), by cutting budgets and lowering Standards.
So what is the purpose of a Country's Military?
The Purpose of a Military is to enact political policy through force of Arms.
Basically put; we close with and Kill the Enemy. Those of us not at the pointy end of the bayonet are there to support those that are, allowing them to carry out their missions.
Our Mission IS NOT to be the Lab Rats for every Leftist, Woke Social Experiment.
Decades of Financial neglect, Political interference and Social Restructuring all to appease Woke Leftists has degraded our capabilities and has put the lives of Canadian Soldiers at risk, all for the sake of buying Socialist Votes or to push Socialist Agendas.
So Why is Recruitment down? a lot of it has too do with the current Government and their support of the Canadian Forces. While the vast majority of people join just to get a job a lot who join do not do it to become rich. They join to become something bigger than themselves and for the adventure of a new life.
So one has to wonder why the Liberals have so bent on destroying the Canadian Military. The fact is we swore to defend Canada from all threats, not to defend a political Party. This means that one day soon we may be called on to put down a internal threat (Liberal Party) to Canada and Canadians, and Justin the Judas cannot have that.

That is, at least in part, because Canada is not a military culture and we prefer to be the peace keepers.
