Connexxion Parkshuttle - Rotterdam Kralingse Zoom Metro ↔ Rivium

The Park Shuttle entered service in February 1999 between metro station Kralingse Zoom and an office area in Capelle aan den IJssel. The unmanned vehicles drove on a route that is closed to other traffic, but had level crossings with cars, cyclists and pedestrians secured by barriers. The track was extended between 2002 and 2006 and largely two-lane. Six new vehicles were also delivered (officially the Connexxion 5801-5806)
with a greater transport capacity of up to 22 people. The system and vehicles were supplied by 2getthere, with Spijkstaal providing the chassis and the superstructure designed by Duvedec. Since 2006, the Park Shuttle ran every working day between 06:00 and 21:00. During rush hour, driving was done at a frequency of once every 2.5 minutes, outside at least once every 6 minutes, which meant that there was room to recharge the batteries of the cars. At the stops, a traveler could call up a trolley at the push of a button. The destination could then be selected in the trolley, just like an elevator. In June 2019, the park shuttle was again decommissioned for modification. In Capelle aan de IJssel, the route is extended via the public road to the Nieuwe Maas, where you can switch to the Waterbus at the jetty at the van Brienenoordbrug. This adjustment will be completed in 2020. Then the Park Shuttle will start driving between normal traffic.
