This game needed a sequel. It’s fun to playthrough a few times with friends, but it gets so tedious when you just wanna try all the characters. The gameplay itself also gets stale, you end up just trying to do infinites.

The thief was by far my favourite character. I called him Kenny for obvius reasons. He was also the first character with whom I beat the game alone (every other playthrough I played with my dad) so the name was also apropiate given the amount of times I died.
The remastered version was technically castle crashers 2 with all the new additions. They could have tried to make a new story with new characters but some things are better off left as it is

I spent 4 months trying to beat the industrial castle on insane mode. Idk how but after 4 months I finally realised that I made a big mistake and then just easily beat it without any teamates or potions
2 years ago someone was willing to help me beat that stage but after we beat it the person was like gone for like 20 or 30 minutes I was waiting freaking out screaming I was like no no no no no I just need to walk to the right wait for a 12 second cutscene and I get the character I was so thankful he came cuz I was about to lose it

I used to see the Cult Minion in the original game and I thought if you beat the game with him, that you'd unlock the Cult Leader. Sort of a shame that isn't the case. In other news, the original game had the king, Necromancer, and Cult Minion as a buyable DLC pack for the game.

Something i just realized: castle crashers is a prequel to pit people and the events of battle block theater happen before pit people, and alien hominids show up everywhere throughout the timeline. And dad n me takes place around the same time as alien hominid 1, which alien hominid invasion is a sequel to.
Castle crashers --> battle block theater -----> pit people ----> events in between these two that we haven't seen -----> alien hominid/dad n me -----> alien hominid invasion
What makes castle crashers such a good game is that it isn’t pay to win at all it actually makes you grind for your characters and i totally respect The Behemoth for that

Reliability with tons of different characters that are all unlockable in game, except for 2 dlc characters (a dollar each) and hatty (owning battle block theater) behemoth knows how to make a great game, unlike most triple a devs/pubs who would make everything paid dlc.
In game development - its the small things that matter to a player on top of the base game: unlockable characters, different modes (like the arenas in CC for example or the mirror mode for games in the sega genesis mega drive collection) mini-games, etc all add to the experience!

I’m not trying to start a war, but I’m just saying that not all characters are different from one another. Man insane mode needs a nerf. The 10x rule is challenging but a simple mistake or two and you die. It should be nerfed down to like 5x or around there. Still hard, but not a mode when you get punished in a small move. Fair and balanced.
I can confirm, you do not get the necromancer after defeating the industrial plant on insane mode. I beat it twice (one with son and one solo) and did not unlock him.

Seriously, that Troll Mother is just such a frustrating time with any character really, it's why I've been stuck there trying to beat the insane version. You can go from max to dead hp yourself in literally one second if there's trolls that you don't see or get stun locked. I'm still gonna try to beat that level but it's really sad to just have such a brick wall that, well, I'm not beefy enough I guess to break through

Everythings maxed except strength and I'm like 6 levels from maxing that (so 71/72) but yeah I think the issue is that you don't get mercy invincibility, so if like 10 trolls decide to hit you at once that can just instakill because of how high damage is in insane mode At least both the name of the boss and mode fit!
In order to get the every character, you have to pretty much 100% rhe game with one character, and then beat the game like 20 times with different characters, AND beat insane mode. That's a bit much ya think?

Not really, I got him in one life no potions on my first time ever soloing insane, you just need to know how to juggle lightweights and heavyweights you can just do ground combos like light attack x3 then heavy x2.
