HMS Pandora arrives at Trinity Marine

- Watch us take delivery of a very special 1:5 scale model of HMS Pandora. HMS Pandora was a ship launched in 1779 and was famously despatched to recover HMS Bounty and capture the mutineers. She was successful in her mission but got shipwrecked on her return no the Great Barrier Reef. This model is 23ft long , 6ft wide and with her masts in place 22ft high. She was built for the film industry and used to recreate battles scenes at sea.

One way or another, that “model” is an inspiration. If I saw that as a kid, I’d be a ship builder today.
The bowsprit is upside down. This is obviously not the HMS Pandora that went hunting for the Bounty mutineers, as that was a 24 gun sixth rate - a small frigate. Stunning scale model though. Does she float? Would be great with an engine fitted.

Since the HMS PANDORA you all are talking about a 24 gun Frigate I wonder if she was a reduced down Small Ship of the Line reduced down. 1812 their Heavy Frigates where upper gun deck and ship superstructure where reduced by a deck.
14 lower deck ports, 15 upper. This is a model of a 74 gun ship and probably the Justinian used for Hornblower as others have said. Scale about 7.4:1

I am wondering if it was an early 60 gun 3rd Rate Line of Battleship on the American Colonial Station. During American Revolutionary War a Prison Hulk. 1600s she been at Boston Harbor with HMS Princess Katherine, 82 gun, 2nd Rate Line of Battleship, later known after 1693 HMS Ramilis, 86 gun, 2 nd Rate Line of Battleship. Wondering if that a captured Frenchmen shallower draft for shallow rivers.
This is most certainly not the PANDORA that went hunting the BOUNTY mutineers -- that was a 24-gun Sixth-Rate. This monster is probably a 74 or 80, Third Rate.

Astonishing! She must float then when she was filmed. Any thoughts on what it cost to build... I'd guess £200k +

If its Justinian than the scale would be 7.4:1
Is the Pandora behind the big one?
Although a credible model of a 3rd rate ship-of-the-line this is NOT ‘Pandora’ which was a 24 gun frigate of the 6th rate. Some of the sparring looks a bit suspect as well. It’s a model being delivered to a client, why the dramatic music?
