Fun fact - this game is so tiny that UA-cam doesn't recognise its existence in its 'list of games' that I can set when uploading the video, and when UA-cam doesn't know what a game is, it guesses - and today it decided to tag this game as Five Nights at Freddy's. I mean, I guess it's dark and grimy and horror-y, but still, not the best guess, Google.

It's amazing that the devs managed to capture the essence of an average night out in Birmingham so perfectly!
Being from Birmingham, I can vouch for this. Although not quite enough heroine involved or a very clear smell of piss in the air.
Jon is the first player to successfully choose the "correct" opening play of shooting the dealer instead of yourself round 1 when it's a 2-1 blank live split.
Is there _any_ arrangement of rounds where the correct move isn't shooting the dealer when there are no items in play?
the only reason Jons perception is so low is because he puts all his points in intelligence
I figure Charisma must be maxed too. Also Luck is probably pretty high as well...

just to be clear everyone at the range their shooting at (and up to higher ranges than you'd expect) blanks will still absolutely mess you up, they may not fire a metal projectile but they still fire a lot of extremely hot gas, air moves very fast, and some blanks are made with non-metal projectiles which will still hit you like a bullet. so just a PSA that loading a gun with blanks does not make russian roulette safe

@@KipwichOrange Roulette is a small browser game. Classic Russian Roulette, no items with an offline vs mode if you had someone else next to you. Also a lot darker than this one.

This game gives me heavy Inscryption vibes, even though the gameplay doesn't involve any cards, it's the same camera perspective and a similar creepy tone.

Not really game related, but I feel like mentioning that real blanks still have hot gases and shell fragments exit the barrel. They can and will cause serious injuries at short range.
I'm guessing whoever made the game used the term "blank" because it sounds cooler than "dummy".
And I thought all guns in video games were completely accurate to real life. Thank god your here to clear that up 👍
Yep, we had wood tipped blanks and a muzzle break to shatter them in the army, rule was not to shoot at someone closer than 50m because of the splinters
Its a very common misunderstanding about blanks by people who know nothing about guns that they're harmless. Dont be an asshole for all you know this comment might save some poor persons life.

Quick question ... wouldn't it have made more sense to use the "hand saw" to end the game since the 'magnifying glass' shows that the bullet was live @9:30?
I think it did make more sense but Jon was yet to find out that all items were reset at the end of the round so he was trying to save the saw for later.
Jon has been using shotguns in video games for decades. How does he not know how they work?

Today's book recommendation is _The Dresden Files_ book one, _Storm Front_ by Jim Butcher. The first in a long running series about a grim and gritty wizard solving crimes in modern Chicago, this book holds a special place in my heart. It's got a demon or two, action, internally consistent magic rules, and nothing to do with _Five Nights at Freddy's_, making it perfect for this video.
Today's book recommendation from me is literally anything besides The Dresden Files not because its bad but because if you read it you will end up in the same boat as me waiting for the next one for what feels like on average 5 years at a time.
If you do decide to go down this doomed path of eternal waiting I would suggest the audiobook versions they are quite good and they finally got around to re-recording Ghost Story thank god, not that the other guy didn't do an adequate job but you can't have one guy narrate the first 12 books then swap in a new voice for the 13th.
Try "Codex Alera" series from the same author instead since it is a finished work you won't be eternally waiting for the next one.

I'd have swapped the pump action for a semi-auto pistol. No visible barrel. Just tension and, hopefully, a click. I'm not sure how double damage would be implemented, though.

love this game, a small idea, not much replay value, but for what it was everything hit right from the aesthetics to the ai. a great game for sure
So it’s 1/3 chance then 1/2 then 1/1. So you want to go second because you can then always guarantee that you control the 1/1 chance shot. But then you do want to be shot at less and you have 0 risk of being shot by the shots taken at the dealer

part of me loves that this game is so good in presentation and gameplay but part of me hates that it's a lighthearted suicide simulation.
Lol, you were very much overthinking it at 9:37. The magnifying glass revealed a live round when the dealer was at 2 health. At that point you could have used the saw to end the round.
Ugh, this might be a fun game but I can't. Self-harm is just too dark for me.

Im surprised a game of this nature exists, but i guess it had to happen at some point right? ALSO, thats a 12 gauge "Trenchbroom" from ww1 if im not mistaken. "I don't understand how shotguns work" Really? how many FPS have you played?
Well then ill explain: So the shells are getting loaded into the Tube Magazine under the Barrel, a "que" if you will. Racking the Slide (the handguard which you PUMP on a Pump Action shotgun), loads the Shell into the Breach, and also ejects the Shell that is already Loaded if their is one.
As a fun fact, you CAN load 1 Extra shell into the Breach when the Tube Magazine is full.

@@CommissarMitch Knowing how guns work is about as useful to the average European as knowing how to maintain a suit of platemail. There are avid sub-communities who do, but most of us are going to go our entire life without using or even seeing one, so why bother? Similarly, if you live somewhere with working public transit, you don't need to understand cars. Since we don't live in a mad max style apocalypse, learning these skills wouldn't be growth, but becoming eccentric.
@gnaskar See I disagree here. I can only speak for personal opinions of course, but when I got very deep into the Fallout games I looked up stuff about the game.
Not just lore but also basics about how nuclear bombs work, how bad radiation sickness is, and the basic understanding of how and why certain weapons are being used.
Jon here have been playing games with guns for more than a decade and I find it very odd that at no point did he at least make a small cursory check how the guns in the games work.
Also the fact that a European would not know is a bit moot since it varies heavily. According to the Wikipedia search I made for this comment, Sweden (my home nation) has around 23 guns per 1000 people.
Regardless, and again from a personal opinion; I find it silly how Jon did not know what 33% of a shotgun's function was. Literally process of elimination; shotguns have 3 things it can do: Load, Rack, Fire.

Yes it does. The Monty Hall one is a completely different thing, where they'll rule out one of the false ones, thereby making it far more likely for the one remaining to be better. That's not the case in the first round of this, if the first shell is a blank, the 2nd is absolutely 50/50

I can only assume Jon was playing dumb, you can't be a gamer and not know that racking is the equivalent to cocking the weapon, AKA making it ready to shoot. Even if you don't know it from gaming, UA-cam has channels like Demolition Ranch and TAOFLEDERMAUS, both famous for creating whacky shotgun rounds.
