  • In 2001, Leeds United were within reach of the summit of English and European football. They had made the semi-finals of the Champions League and were knocking on the door for a first league title since 1992. Then, with a £100m gamble on players by Peter Risdale, Leeds missed successive Champions League campaigns. They were now in debt. They had to sell most of their players. They have been out of the Premier League since 2004.

This would be a really nice reality, and your right no way did we need fowler or Johnson, only thing I see possibly wrong is though even if we didn’t get into debt and implode it would have been really hard to finish in the top 3 or 4 because of the Russian buying Chelsea it was already very hard to begin with them backed by him and their spending that would have made it impossible, who knows what that Leeds team could have achieved if it had stayed together.
