Question: I have been playing age of mythology since 2005 but have never played multiplayer. What are the standard build orders and villagers production strategies in early game?
There isn't really one answer to this, but, using Greeks as an example, my personal experience tells me that you can get away with 4-5 vills on food (get hunting dogs straight away), followed by 2-3 on wood and 2-3 on gold. This naturally depends on a lot of factors, including civ, God, strategy (rush, turtle, boom, etc) and map (water maps may require you to focus more on wood because fishing ships). If Egyptian, use pharaoh to empower food; Norse is similar to greek; Atlantean 1 food - > 1 wood - > 1 gold then build house; China is same as Greek but way faster because you start with 4 vills. Hope this helps.
@JL-ti3us aom starts can be a bit confusing, it’s good to have a base line simple build then adapt from them. I’ve debated making some videos of how to start and adapt if you’d be interested?
Would be awesome to get a video about the top things I should know as an AoE2 player before jumping into AoM competitively! Thinking about it once Retold is released
Great idea, my knowledge of aoe2 is a bit outdated so I’d need a few games to refresh my memory. I’d most likely make a video like this after the aom retold release, incase it’s quite different to the current one
"egyptian player build their migdol stronghold near the second goldmine" me, who never played really any strategy and just build normally up, building the stronghold somewhere in my base: I do something that is called a "pro gamer move"

oh also adding:
"micro your pharaoh to get more bonus from his buffing"
me, a Ra player: wait you people just buff 1 building?
