Description: Grover Beach, California - On Saturday, May 25, 2024, at approximately 6:23 p.m., Grover Beach Police Officers were dispatched to Kautz Chevron at Grand Avenue and 13th Street, regarding a subject who displayed a firearm to a person. Officers arrived on scene and were unable to locate the subject described and cleared the area. At approximately 6:35 p.m., Officers were dispatched to a male causing a disturbance near Grand Avenue and 13th Street. Callers reported that a male was throwing rocks at passing cars. A Grover Beach Police Officer arrived on scene and contacted the suspect, 41-year-old Aaron Edward Gardner, matching the description. Upon exiting the patrol car, Gardner told the officer he had a gun, and would shoot the officer. The officer gave several commands to Gardner to comply. Gardner continued to be uncooperative and continued to tell the officer he had a gun and would shoot the officer. Gardner then advanced toward the officer quickly raising his right arm with a replica firearm in his hand. The officer fired his service weapon and struck Gardner several times. Gardner was immediately provided medical attention by assisting officers and emergency medical services. He was transported to Arroyo Grande Community Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Gardner, who has an extensive criminal history in multiple states, was unhoused and traveling through California. At the time of the shooting, Gardner had warrants for his arrest in the states of Kansas and Texas.

That caller is terrible at his description of the suspect. How are shorts and a short sleeve shirt considered "winter" clothes and confusing a wool cap for a baseball cap.
This is serious what people are focusing on in this video. A caller that told them everything they needed to know in about 30 seconds. Most simple explanation- the guy took off the winter clothing. "Long-time resident" takes about 1 full second to say and explains he is familiar with the area.
It's a snowbird town and always flooded with people who just moved there to retire. He was probably trying to imply he wasn't a tourist or newbie. It doesn't actually matter except to the caller and implies he thinks residency term equates to legitimacy.
I don't think it was shock or disbelief, I think he already suspected it would be a fake gun based on what the guy was saying, he kept bringing up "real gun". So he probably had a hunch that the perp didn't have a real gun, but he can not act under the assumption its fake, the reaction was more his fear that it would be fake being proven correct.
@@Hevensdragon The reaction is just a human being that is upset by what he just had to do... He was given no choice. Believe it or not, officers don't like having to shoot people. No one wants to take someone's life, but when it comes down to you or him, it's going to be him... Even if he was 99.99% sure it was a fake gun, he isn't going to take that risk. Being wrong means you're the one who's dead or at the very least seriously injured. No one would take that risk. I know there are simpletons that say otherwise, but it's not true. If someone raised a gun to you & you weren't 110% CERTAIN that it was fake, you would defend yourself.
and the guy off to the side yelling, "IT'S FAKE, IT'S FAKE" or perp; "this is a real gun and totally not at all a fake gun - - now give me your real gun because mine's not at all fake it's totally real and not fake" shock & disbelief.
The details really help the dispatcher. "Longtime resident, first time caller. I work in real estate, vegetarian but I do eat eggs and dairy. I'm on my way to a birthday party for a friend, well co-worker we don't usually see each other outside of work."
You've never been to Grover Beach. Locals and tourists are treated massively different, that is why the local felt the need to say he was a local. There is a mural on the wall at the jail that states "Come on vacation...Leave on probation". My Grandparents used to have a house there and the cops have no patience for vacationers.

I have a REAL gun sounds just like someone with a fake gun would say
Sounds like That dude calls 911 daily.
I think the cop knew it wasn’t a real gun just by the number of times he said he had a “real gun”, but he can’t chance it
I was expecting to see Joe Rogan chasing down a bear
Yeah even if he heavily suspected it was fake its just not a risk they can take.
Suicide by Cop?
Any CIA/Govt statements = Mental issues
That’s why the agencies target them. Plausible deniability when the crazy starts talking about working for them.
Naw typical fed behavior
Yeah, Daddy gubment lubs me... Dey would nevah lie to me....
Nope.. not always. Vid with cops arresting an FBI agent, didn't believe him and the cops got in trouble. =)
@@LieutenantDangleBerries No, is more like paranoid schizophrenics and conspiracy theorists have a natural fear of the feds because of their 'persecution complex'.
As always, reading the comments is the most rewarding.
Only criminals with a fake gun would claim they have a “real” gun 🤣
Yea I was thinking that too
feel free to examine that theory and determine the results.
Yea he said real gun way too many times 😂
Unless he was hoping to make the cop think the same thing you thought.
There are also those that make 'real' look like nerf and super soakers.
That caller is terrible at his description of the suspect. How are shorts and a short sleeve shirt considered "winter" clothes and confusing a wool cap for a baseball cap.
Suspect could've had trench coat on and taken it off
I want to know more about the caller's living situation. How long exactly has he lived in the area? Does he rent or own?
This is serious what people are focusing on in this video. A caller that told them everything they needed to know in about 30 seconds. Most simple explanation- the guy took off the winter clothing. "Long-time resident" takes about 1 full second to say and explains he is familiar with the area.
He could barely spit out that the guy was *WHITE!*
@@adammiller9179 You're just like the caller, huh?
of course you don't get it :]
Some say the one with "winter clothes" is still out there throwing rocks at people...?
Caller:Long time resident
Operator:i dont care
the officer had guts to not shoot that guy after he said he had a gun
“Long term resident of Grover Beach..” How the heck is that the slightest bit relevant?
white privilege
It means he knows the area and the people who live there. What's YOUR problem?
he needed to flex
It's a snowbird town and always flooded with people who just moved there to retire. He was probably trying to imply he wasn't a tourist or newbie. It doesn't actually matter except to the caller and implies he thinks residency term equates to legitimacy.
@@tedunguent156 my problem is that your a child molestor
caller says "hey listen" then proceeds to stumble through uhhhhh a sentence
Well kids... don't do meth!😂
i do crystal meth though
You can hear it in his voice when he sees that it is, in fact, just a replica/fake gun.
The sound of shock and disbelief.
That's why the officer exclaimed, "Fuck", when he saw it. It sucks, but he had no choice.
@@MeadeJ67 I must question your literacy, why tell me what I am already saying as a "correction"?
and the guy off to the side yelling, "IT'S FAKE, IT'S FAKE"
or
perp; "this is a real gun and totally not at all a fake gun - - now give me your real gun because mine's not at all fake it's totally real and not fake"
shock & disbelief.
That 911 caller was an ass lol
His description was totally shit too.
"I'm CIA!" Cop: Say what? KIA? OKAY!
Thank goodness for body cameras, some of these incidents could be difficult to explain
The caller graduated with honors from Karen University.
Do you have any f*cking clue what a Karen is? It isn't someone who calls in someone throwing rocks at people and flashing a gun.
Cry.
😂😂😂
The Californian concept of oversized winter clothing may be flawed.
Wow both the dispatcher and the caller were extremely calm and professional. Excellent communication
Lol that caller was embarrassing. A longterm resident? Wth.
“Unhoused” don’t you mean homeless…
Soon as he said "I got a REAL gun" I laughed
That caller just pissed me off, what a rude person interrupting the dispatcher and making pointless statements
His ego was bigger than his mouth.
Some of yall are just crazy. Idc what he said, did you expect for the cop to wait for a bullet to determine whether it was real or fake? Hell nah
Caller: hi Sara this 👴🏽 long term resident of Grover Beach.
"Unhoused"? Enough with the euphemisms, he was homeless.
"It's fake, it's fake!"
"Oh well, mine's real!"
What do these idiots think is going to happen if You try to attack an Officer of the Law with an offensive weapon? The mind boggles.
"unhoused and traveling through California." Yes let's make sure we're respectful of the crazy guy's living situation.
Yeah really. I wonder if he’s also a “Minor attracted person”
California is a giant, open air, mental asylum.
In other words just some random guy from California.
Right? "Unhoused" dude is homeless and crazy.
Unhoused,😂😂😂😂 warm and fuzzy liberal speak, implying that being homeless is the fault of everyone else except the individual
@@AtomicStateDeliverythese are the lib terms we have now. A new one is “unalived himself “ instead of suicide
Who care about that he is a longtime resident! Just give the Dispatch a description of that suspect, how simple is that!!
The details really help the dispatcher.
"Longtime resident, first time caller. I work in real estate, vegetarian but I do eat eggs and dairy. I'm on my way to a birthday party for a friend, well co-worker we don't usually see each other outside of work."
longtime resident = knowledge of the area
You have no idea how important he is. LoL
@@Roddy556 Drives a subaru and is a registered democrat.
You've never been to Grover Beach. Locals and tourists are treated massively different, that is why the local felt the need to say he was a local. There is a mural on the wall at the jail that states "Come on vacation...Leave on probation". My Grandparents used to have a house there and the cops have no patience for vacationers.
Caller , "you'll know when you see him" LOL that's not a description, genius!!!
Well his troubles are over
He was "unhoused"....California's new term for homeless.
It's in every corporate environment now
Unhoused...and now unalived.
California is one gigantic HR department.
Probably not, there aren't a ton here. We have a few proper hobos all the REAL homeless get pushed into Santa Maria 🎉
@@3d4u2cMen of the streets.
Wow, the caller was a tool, I'm a long time resident, this needs to be addressed immediately...
Egomaniac
clearly self defense
Profoundly unhelpful caller. Just answer the damn questions.
cool to have a phone POV as well!
No choice unfortunately. What makes a relatively young man do something like this, very, very sad.
Drugs/abuse/mental issues/no stability or real goal in life
Mix of everything you could say
Despair
Suicide by cop. What a scumbag way to kill yourself and force an officer go through this ordeal.
Mental problems.
I find it even sadder there are so many commenters screaming “haha lmao he brought a fake gun to a real gunfight hahaha 🤣 “
Guy that called 911 sounded like a Doctor
The officer gave the guy a chance to not get shot. Tough job to do.
Officer had no choice!
Man this happened right down the street from me... things like this never happen here..
lol. Things like this happen in California all the time bro
Damn at Pismo crazy
@@rickallen9099 Full disclosure, I freaking hate California, but I used to date a woman out there. As much as I hate that state, not all of CA is the hellhole that is LA, and this area is a sleepy little town and actually pretty nice. A lot of old folks there.
Grover Beach is a pretty affluent, quiet town on the central coast. Been through there many times.
@rickallen9099 not on the central coast man..la and Frisco sure but this place ain't either of those
That officer quashed those warrants for him.
