Vanuatu this high makes sense for me. It's one of the few seasons i had a really hard time finishing because the first episodes were sooo boring - happy I eventually did tho! Fiji I found thoroughly boring. Great winner, but it's impossible for me to like this season.
I mean, with the whole Brenda thing at Caramoan's FTC, yeah maybe she took it too far, but wouldn't you also be pissed if you did something like that and "were the only reason" your closest ally stayed in the game, only for them to blindside you later? And then on top of that, claim that they actually would have stayed in the game despite what they told you? And also, I feel like her asking Dawn to remove her retainer in front of the jury isn't an unreasonable question, given how according to Brenda, that was the first time she'd ever heard Dawn not be super self-conscious about her teeth. Call me a petty bitch, but I stand by what Brenda did. And I also stand by her decision to not vote for Dawn in the end. She was burned by her and regardless of if she took out her retainer or not, it reveals that she lied to Brenda about it.
Exactly! That was outside of the game moment for Brenda. For Dawn to say her life in the game was in Brenda’s hands? Then vote her out. Brenda was fair because Dawn was the one that said it. lol
@@walsh9080 That's not quite "fair" if it guarantees her Brenda's vote. The only thing that it proved was that Dawn manipulated Brenda, and didn't just burn her after "her life in the game depended on Brenda". Well, who am I kidding, she's free to do that either way, but let it be known that if you burn an ally, and apologize at FTC, you're not entitled to their vote.
Fiji becomes a top 10 season for me around the swap actually. With the downfalls of Rocky and Lisi, the false underdog narrative of Moto since all the bros go to Ravu, and putting Dreamz in a position to go full Dreamz, it's kinda amazing how dramatically the momentum changes around at that point (And I fully acknowledge that I don't know why the producers thought Haves vs. Have Nots would work).
I think if MTV had been casting Survivor alumni earlier in The Challenge's career, Joel Anderson would definitely have been on at least one season. I mean... "I hit my head back the-" "I DON'T CARE!" Joel had that early Challenge mindset. XD
I don’t know if this so a hot take, but I LOVE seasons like the beginning of Catalina where there’s just constant fighting and tension. I love seeing everyone pissed off lol
young me quit watching vanuato when it was just chris. i threw in the towel. first and only time i stopped watching a live season. till i heard chris won. it genuinely shocked me i had to go back and watch him shred that alliance. 100 percent shit pre amazing post!
I’ve thought Micronesia is super overrated for a while, and I find it very satisfying to finally see a Survivor youtuber criticize it. People are so in love with the Ozzy, Jason, and Erik blindsides that they ignore the three quits, two medevacs, unfair final 2 twist, and largely unlikeable or underedited fans tribe. I’ll never understand how it consistently makes the top 3 of people’s lists. Most of the season is mid at best.
I also would say Parvati is super overrated as a player and winner. Once you critically look at the "she made finals twice" hype, you see a pretty mean-spirited player who mostly knows how to ride an alliance and get lucky. She's not a legend, but she's not bad. Cirie does everything Parvati does, but better.
@@AA-dd3we I needed to see this forever. Micronesia is very overrated, especially when you're like me and you don't like the Black Widow Brigade. Most of the characters I found funny, likable, admirable, or any combination of those, get an untimely exit, and when the merge hits it becomes a "unga bunga all-girl alliance" which becomes very predictable. And predictably, the girl that was running the show gets the win. I wish Cirie had won that season, because as overrated as I think she is, she is still an incredibly cunning player, with a strategic pedigree I can have a lot of respect for. Parvati gets all the credit only because she's hot.
How you feel about Vanuatu is how I feel about Fiji. It’s probably not in my top ten, but I enjoyed watching the genesis of idol strategy once the merge hits.
I like this idea of the wavelength of good progressing to bad or vice versa, but now I'm curious if there's any seasons that are considered good all the way through or bad all the way through.
I'd personally argue that The Amazon should also be on this list, as the premerge felt like creepy level of horniness fest from the men, an unfortunate amount of misogyny, boring voteouts, and drama so nonexistent the producers literally hid a granola wrapper in the women's camp to ensue drama. Added with Rodger's unwelcome homophobia as well I just did not enjoy The Amazon's premerge, but I felt it really pick up steam almost the moment the tribes merged, with Rodger's hilarious blindside as well as Rob's masterful gameplay, almost every single character becoming more likeable, and fun blindsides all throughout it felt like the season got infinitely better at the merge for me.
I'm with you, thankfully the horniness is almost completely removed from the game by the merge. I have a theory that a lot of that and the misogyny was coming from the producers to a degree. Some of the confessionals during the pre-merge about how hot some of the girls are or how good the guys are gonna do in the challenge I don't buy from the likes of Matthew, Rob, and Butch. Especially because they all make it very deep in the game and those types of confessionals mysteriously disappear. As a big old-school fan it's hard for me to deny how much the producers interfered in the game, but always in questionable ways like we'll let the Ted and Gandia situation slide but you better not vote out Rudy!
@@seanberrodin801 I don't think they straight up manipulated Dirk & Sean to vote for Stacy but it was basically confirmed that the candy wrapper in The Amazon was producer intervention. The shelter burning down from the same season was also rumored producer intervention.
Please do a "how to fix each season" thing where you look at how each season could've been better. For example, could season 14 have been made better if the "Haves" tribe had to choose whether to go to tribal council or give up their camp each time they won?
Survivor Fiji has to be one of the most satisfying seasons. The cast was unlikeable, but because of that I enjoyed their downfall. Seeing Earl and Yau run the table was amazing and Earl’s win was even better
Sorry, but there’s nothing even potentially redeeming or worthy of sympathy about Rocky. He was an obnoxious bully and almost made me stop watching after literally two episodes.
Respectfully I don't agree *at all* that Micronesia has a bad pre merge. That fans tribe got decimated but was full of characters interesting for one reason or another. Pre merge fans include Tracey (underrated), Kathy (basket case), Chet (unintentionally hilarious), Joel (comedic villan with a satisfying end) even Mikey B had some potential. Then the favorites tribe was maybe a bit less memorable than their lofty cast would have you think but was still interesting if for no other reason than who was in it.
Good video, but I would have probably had Amazon on the list instead of Micronesia. Micronesia's pre-merge is at least decent. But the gap in quality of Amazon's pre-merge and post-merge is similar to that of Fiji and Vanuatu.
The Fiji pre-merge feels a lot like a statement, rather than an experiment. Did they really think that it would go any other way? And anyways, you could just look at the world an this economic "question" would be answered.
I’m afraid I am going to have to heavily disagree with you on Vanuatu and Micronesia In Vanuatu you have the Dolly and Lisa boots and Rory in general In Micronesia you have the divided Favorites and the dysfunctional Fans and Penner’s evacuation and the one of the potentially greatest blindsides of a player (Ozzy in episode 6) being foiled by Chet
The funny thing about Micronesia is Ozzy avoids being blindsided like 5 times by his enemies because one person would mess it up and then everyone would wimp out. Then as soon as Parvati decides to do it and it works perfectly.
Erinn from Tocantins better make that list She got voted out at her 9TH tribal council too Candace Jerry Brendan Tyson Sierra Debbie Coach Taj And then the cat goes down

So after this happens, apologies have been made and accepted, but Brenda is free to vote for whomever she thinks should have the win and the million. Well, who am I kidding, she's free to do that either way, but let it be known that if you burn an ally, and apologize at FTC, you're not entitled to their vote.
Time to complete the trifecta: Seasons with 1 really good tribe and 1 really bad tribe
"I mean, if Chasing Amy made it in"
Fiji becomes a top 10 season for me around the swap actually.
I see Vanuatu, I click Like. Simple as that. :)
I think if MTV had been casting Survivor alumni earlier in The Challenge's career, Joel Anderson would definitely have been on at least one season. I mean...
"I hit my head back the-" "I DON'T CARE!"
Joel had that early Challenge mindset. XD
Joel fits more on a MTV show than Survivor actually
@@queenzoroark Whom from that era do you think Joel Anderson would give a run for their money? Who would give HIM a tough fight?

I don’t know if this so a hot take, but I LOVE seasons like the beginning of Catalina where there’s just constant fighting and tension. I love seeing everyone pissed off lol
Worlds Apart is probably the best example of that on American survivor
young me quit watching vanuato when it was just chris. i threw in the towel. first and only time i stopped watching a live season. till i heard chris won. it genuinely shocked me i had to go back and watch him shred that alliance. 100 percent shit pre amazing post!
Caramoan is a mountain. The premerge sucks the early merge is actually good but I struggle through the endgame
@@KeitaroHirochiyeeesh…
Who quit? I know of the two medevacs but only know Fairplay and Kathy quit. Oh wait, Chet quit.
im offended at the Vanuatu hot guy slander.... John P is such a fun character, im shocked
I kinda see it the other way around. Great premerge, bad merge. However, good winner.
Tocantins was SNUBBED
Tocantins is glorious from second 1.
Chris is the best player ever no other player could do what he did in season 9
I was happy when 9 and 29 made it.
Hot take: Jon and Jaclyn were great and also made the season fun to watch. Also, Baylor and Missy had their moments. :)
How you feel about Vanuatu is how I feel about Fiji. It’s probably not in my top ten, but I enjoyed watching the genesis of idol strategy once the merge hits.
i’m a simple person. i see keith nale i click.
Three amigos are likeable?!! Maybe when you are 14 years old schoolgirl....
I'm surprised you mentioned Chasing Amy for the Criterion joke and not Armageddon or The Rock (two Michael Bay movies).
How bought good post merge-good pre merge
I thought Amazon would be on this list

You should do a season rankings 1-43
love to see it
Ok it’s time you make the survivor 43 recap and give yourself points based on if you read the contestant correctly
Can you do videos where the pre and post merge were good?
Agree, Fiji pre-merge is so boring
Would you say a year later that 46 would be on this list or borderline?
Yes Fiji! 🙌🏾
Telling y’all Natalie one of the best players of all time
I’m afraid I am going to have to heavily disagree with you on Vanuatu and Micronesia
In Vanuatu you have the Dolly and Lisa boots and Rory in general
In Micronesia you have the divided Favorites and the dysfunctional Fans and Penner’s evacuation and the one of the potentially greatest blindsides of a player (Ozzy in episode 6) being foiled by Chet
turg
@@imirhwklwturg
The funny thing about Micronesia is Ozzy avoids being blindsided like 5 times by his enemies because one person would mess it up and then everyone would wimp out. Then as soon as Parvati decides to do it and it works perfectly.
Survivor 43 probably inspired the concept of this video. Can u do top 5 cats with nine lives in survivor…Please.
