    I loved my tinyhawk freestyle v1 which I modded with the nano2 cam, xm+ receiver and a rush tiny tank vtx (500mW), which I eventually destroyed by crashing into salt-water. I'm awaiting delivery on it's replacement, the Freestyle 2, and straight out of the box it shouldn't need all the mods needed on v1. Great review

The mobula hd can be flown indoors for ppl who live in less than perfect conditions like my self, this past week I haven't been able to fly cause it's been ridiculously hot outside. I agree about how much fun toothpick drones like the tinyhawk freestyle are. I'll, too, often grab the toothpick instead of my 5 inch for the exact same reasons. It's so durable, low risk, and far cheaper. The props are cheaper and more durable, and the batteries are far cheaper. I've got a crash reel with a modified tinyhawk race and in the whole time, all I've had to replace are props, and not as often as you might think. Mine does have a different FC, VTX, and canopy, and all is conformal coated though. If anyone is thinking of a toothpick, just do it! The whoop style drones would probably make a better very first drone though for learning.

    The TH Freestyle with HD Recording would be the perfect TinyWhoop for me.

    Fantastic review, well presented, keep up the good work Matt. I'm a little behind you in terms of experience and knowledge, so your videos really resonate with me. In this video, you mention PID tuning - how about making a video on that?

    • @flightevolution8132
      @flightevolution8132 4 роки тому

      If that's the case, please skip PID tuning for now. It is for much more experienced pilots capable of noticing specific flight characteristics and addressing them with tuning. Most stock tunes are fine, and if not just load up standard profiles on whatever software you use for a better tune.

      I would second Sunrise's choice as a box goggle (which, if you're wearing special Rx glasses, is the way to go), but with Skyzone's Cobra (S or X) now available, I would suggest you look into those. They use the same diversity Rx (Steadyview) that is in their latest SKY04X. With no intent to dis Matt on his channel, have a look at Joshua Bardwell's "Best FPV Goggle Buyer's Guide 2021" for a list of what's available and aspects to think about.

    The debate with regard to which of these drones you should buy is quite simple : both ! If you don’t want to buy both, you need to decide on whether HD-Video and filming indoors is more important to you than the dynamic that the Tinyhawk II has to offer. Probably the mobula is the better choice for absolute fpv-newbies, and the Tinyhawk is the better choice for those who want to zip around faster, and further. The tinyhawk lacks prop guards, not that they are really required for flying as the drone is pretty rugged, but in my view they would be advisable from a safety point of view, as the authorities are dreaming up more and more regulations for flying drones, and prop guards protect props..and people !

    As someone who started with EMAX products exclusively, I can pretty confidently say that, while they are great products for beginners, you will quickly outgrow them. When this happens, their flaws become quite apparent. Namely the all-in-one flight controller/ESC stacked with the VTX. Honestly, I think the flight controller and ESC are pretty solid, but the way that they have chosen to connect them to the VTX to it is very weak and problematic. I can't tell you how many times my flight buddy and I have fought with repairing the connection between the two. Do I recommend their products for beginners? Absolutely. Just keep in mind that they have their share of problems and you'll likely outgrow them quickly. Great video, by the way! Keep them coming!

    I absolutely _love_ my Freestyle 2. It's my first ever FPV and I've been using it near-daily for about 3 weeks now; I don't feel like I've even come close to using it to its full potential. BTW for anyone interested: I use 2x 850mAh batteries and get about 8-10 minutes of flight time, and the added weight over the supplied 450mAh batteries isn't noticeable - to me anyway.
    Also I lowered the camera angle to 0 degrees at first, and dropped the throttle to 60% in BetaFlight, until I got the hang of it. I can do Level and Horizon Mode flying, but I can't handle Acro to save my life lol. Either way I'd 100% recommend this drone!

    @Matt Pockwat Congrats on your channel. Nice to see a Canuck contribute content to the community with a delivery in layman's terms. I stumbled upon your channel by a UA-cam suggestion. I was curious to here what you had to say. I gather you're an aerial cinematography enthusiast. It may explain why you have a Mob6 HD. It's interesting that, in this video, you cover the Mob6 HD and TH2. You should try the non HD Mob6! You'll find them drastically different! That extra 7g on a 65mm drone is HUGE! The non HD is nimble and very agile to rip around inside (in bad weather). Consider moving your Mob6 HD guts onto a 75mm frame. See Nick Burns' "Mobulite HD Pro // Improve your Mob6 HD". Godspeed and happy flying!!

    Probably BOTH, I've been flying FPV for 15 years but just recently got into the micro world aside from the ol' Inductrix. My youngest son and I both have Firefly 1s V2 quads and Air65s coming for Xmas. We both want more of these tiny quads so we will likely get both so we can experiment.

    Matt I really liked the video thank you, I am still about to make my first purchase and the Tiny Hawk just seems like what I am wanting besides a drone that could carry a gopro but the tiny hawk looks so fun and a good way to learn also so this is helping me a lot thank you.

    Isn't the flight flight time on the Mobula 6 HD flight times less than 1 minute? I want to get one but that flight time is brutal.

    Make sure to put tape over the sd card slot on the Mobula 6 HD. The sd card can eject on a crash.

    I agree with your assessment, but as I don't put vids online and just like to fly I have the regular mob 6. I also have the freestyle v1 with update cam, vtx and full size flysky receiver. Both rock, but I just busted my freestyle frame. I delaminated the carbon of one arm.

    Great video! My first drone was tinyhawk S and i love it, compared to mob6 (24000kv no hd) u get aprox 1min 30s more flight time. My 2nd drone was TH freestyle (1) and its super fun (u can use rubber band and record hd from insta360go (extra 18g). As for begginer i woud say u need spare bottom plate for freestyle and loctite- plus spare props - i was lerning next to a concrete, and before i swap bottom plate for new one i did glue it several times :) one thing about TH freestyle was range... 25mv vtx is just blocking u quite fast in open area with few trees. The th2 have new vtx (up to 200mv) so it shoud be way better. My AIO board from S broke so i move TH board to it and just got tinyhawk 2 board for my freesttle :) on old one i got easy 6min of flying (up to 8 when crusing -520mah gnb).

      Honestly you would be looking at $500 to get into the hobby properly without buying crap. If you really what to get in to the hobby buy a good radio like the t16s and a sim + cable, then ideally by a decent goggles i.e. eachene 200s then the drone + charger + extra batteries.

    • @platty9237
      @platty9237 3 роки тому

      Ev800d box goggle is about 90 bucks. A betafpv lite radio is about 40 bucks. They’re decent for starting out, and it’s good to have backups for spectators.
      The daily drivers for fpv enthusiasts will run between 200-600 for goggles, and 150-700 for radios.

    I've had both the mob 6 and tinyhawk freestyle for several months.
    The tinyhawk benefits a TON from xt30. I get an easy 8-9 minutes with a 450 2s now and it's noticeably smoother, AND the batteries stay strapped in better.

    • @Shauny_D
      @Shauny_D 2 роки тому

      @@ashinator9309 no idea anymore haha! I’ve repaired and built so many. It’s a sickness. I think i started out planning on getting multiple drones and wanted longevity so i put most into a good charger, controller, and goggles. Maybe $1200 initially ?... Spend most of your time and effort in velocidrone first that’ll save you a lot of money and frustration. I’d probably have spent $3-4k at first if i hadn’t been trying everything in the sim first.
