Hello MM I love your channel. I just got my first GFG mini Avery in Cherry Bison and I absolutely love it. I didn't mind the packaging at all. I am glad they didn't wrap it in plastic. It is better for the environment. My GFG Chery Bison smells awesome. The quality is simply amazing. I was a Dooney girl before but no more, it is GFG all the way for me now. Hi! Long time no see! I’m happy your video was in my feed. I am very surprised to hear about a chemical smell emanating from the Go Forth Goods bag. I have bought more than 25 bags and never experienced that. On some of my GFG bags I can detect the rich animal fragrance. I like it. I sometimes think I should explain to the people around me than it is the bag and not me.😅 I love their bags. The quality is amazing. I am so glad to see that you are happy with the Janes you bought from Go Forth Goods! I bought a bag from CH a year or two ago, and had to sell it immediately because it was too heavy for me. I took mine shopping without a shoulder strap just to test the weight and it is def not a lightweight bag😬 I know you have some GFG pieces, and they are good quality, gorgeous bag so that chemical smell on my black bag was really surprising. Hi MM! What I have found is that if a company uses full grain leather they will not hide that fact. So I think if full grain is not mentioned then the bag is not full grain 😊 Edited to add, I suspect the Dooney pebbled leather is genuine leather grade which is a lower grade than the top grain because of the fact that it is stamped with the pebbling, and the price point.

Some replies mention Dooney uses full and top grain leather…but as long as I have been buying Dooney (well over 20 years) I have never known them to disclose the type of leather they use. Another point: full grain is usually unlined to expose the beautiful underside of suede - yet all florentine bags have a red cotton lining. Full grain is a huge selling point - It would be all over their website.

Although there are full grain makers who offer a lining, I do not prefer it because no lining would last as long as the leather itself. Don’t get me wrong, I still have some Dooney bags because I love the Florentine leather.🌸

Love your explanation of different types of leather. Weird that bag smelled. I wonder if it got a little moisture in it during shipping. I’ve actually used febreeze on the inside of bags before.

Dooney's florentine (as well as Alto) leather is full grain vegetable tanned leather. Dooney uses a LOT of full grain leather overall. Beautiful bags! TFS
