Wait why were all the movies good though. The ending wasn’t the best granted and it was a little confusing at times but it was still so much fun

11:45 I don't know why the word "purposefully" makes me laugh. Like when I was little, stuff was either "by accident", "on purpose", "accidentally", or... but nobody ever said "purposefully". I understood why nobody ever said it, because it sounds like such a bloated word, but I would still be thinking it like it was a real word. So hearing Agent Smith say the word just makes me feel a sense of what I can only describe as hilarious validation.

Hugo Weaving has a unique way of emphasizing those multi-syllabic words. Most famously the sound of "inevitability."

Explaining the ending: warning this is a long(ish) comment.
The movie is intentionally a bit ambiguous but my interpretation has always been:
Smith is the Anti-Neo - he is also a The One, but a machine version. Smith is screwing up The Matrix and killing the inhabitants by converting them - meaning the machines are losing their power source - if Neo doesn't stop Smith, the Machines will wipe out humanity and then days later die out themselves through lack of power - assuming Smith doesn't start taking them over as well (since he can affect the outside world). So they strike a deal.
Neo allows Smith to consume him - but actually Smith just infects himself with Neo - and they destroy each other. The ending suggests Neo died, taking out Smith as well. The Machines and Humanity now have peace - and the humans in the Matrix are made aware of The Matrix - they have a choice - you can stay or leave. Some stay, some leave.
The machines will no longer attempt to wipe out humanity, and the humans will stop generating The Ones (emergent properties of the Matrix.. eventually someone will become a The One) because those in the Matrix have chosen to be there willingly and won't have this need to fight out against "the system", which Thomas Anderson had.
That was the cycle that was broken - humans in matrix, eventually one becomes a The One and escapes, frees others, they form a resistance movement and start trying to extract humans. When they get too numerous, the machines destroy the humans and start the process again with a reset which works fine for a while until... another Neo appears.
Since The Ones appear because they have a "feeling" they are "trapped" in a "system", but can't quite explain it -- since they remaining humans in the matrix know the reason they feel that way, they don't try to break out - so no more The Ones will be created.
    Hope this helps!
EDIT: oh, Smith became a The One the same way Neo did - he HATES the Matrix and wants to get out (he told Morpheus in the first movie) but he CAN'T. When Neo killed him by jumping in him, he did "something" to Smith that disconnected him from the Machines and free to move about The Matrix with Neo's "Matrix Vision / Code Vision". We don't know what that something is, but Neo killing Smith gave them a "Connection" - some part of Digital Neo was imprinted onto Digital Smith - something overwritten or copied. It's irrelevant though, what matters is that it no longer made him an Agent of the System, he had changed, became unplugged, a new man, so to speak, like Neo apparently... "free".
You know how there's cycles in the Matrix and all? Well in the first film, Smith kills Neo. Neo then jumps inside of Smith and kills him from the inside out. How? Who knows - Matrix Magic because that's what The One does.
Same thing, basically, at the end here, only Neo didn't jump into Smith, Smith stupidly tried to "jump" into Neo. How? Who knows - Matrix Magic because that's what The One does.
No one ever said this trilogy was shakespeare. The first movie was groundbreaking in uncountable ways. The second and third were obviously a "hey this was popular, let's make more" - but they were done well and since they were done by the same people, it's more or less cohesive. They could have done a HELL of a lot worse (see X-3 in Singer X-Men trilogy) than they did.
Luckily no more Matrix films came out so a fourth one which would be... mediocre at best, and just weird and non-sensical whilst being surprisingly cheap looking "netflix movie of the week" way at worst, was ever made.
Yeah so Ollie - no doubt you'll watch the 4th one at some point for completeness. Without any spoilers at all - I'd say I personally think the film is unnecessary. No one asked for it to be made - there was no reason for it. It only features one of the Wachowski's involved (Lana I think) - and with all respect to her, I think the two together were a better team - both for writing, directing and cinematography. There's something missing from it and I can't quite put my finger on it.
It fell very flat with me and... whilst I'm not one of those "this [new thing] ruins [old thing]" people, I just kinda wish I had those two hours of my life back, ya know? I could do something more useful with them than watching Matrix 4. But then some people really like it so YMMV on that - and I just want to say no disrespect meant from me to those that do enjoy it.

I thought it was more that Agent Smith would be able to make his way to the machine world and convert all of them to Agent Smiths as well. The Architect already said the machines were willing to live without the human batteries, so I don't think that alone would make the machines fearful of Smith.

@@fleetadmiralj Smiths prime goal is to end life as he states. If he would get out of the matrix, he will finish the human race bringing the end to the matrix and human farming and effectively ending machines energy source and put and end to pretty much everything.
Architects goal is the create a perfect matrix and real as possible to avoid unsolved equations like the One. The One is mathematical paradox that architect cant solve because of the element of choice. Think it like quantum uncertainty where an exact location of a particle can never be recorded. Same thing here. Architect cant get around the element of choice, because depending on the choice the entirety of the equation is different. Oracle is created for this reason, to study human psyche and instead of trying to solve the equation of the element of choice, but instead to try to understand the human psyche and try to predict the choice. Smith along the way got code changed by Neo making him a rogue program. Making him code that is not of the machines. That means machines cant delete him. So it essentially become another One. Another equation that cant be solved. That means the machines are incapable of reloading the matrix. To eliminate the smith they would have to unplugging everyone, create a new matrix and replugg. That is not possible, because they dont have the capacity to manage such a feat without running out of energy.
So Smith was a huge threat to the matrix. Hence why the machines agreed to Neos peace proposal.

Saw it in 2003 and loved it. It's a different story, he gave his life to sucker smith into allowing himself to be plugged back in where the machines could extract him, just as the architect had said they did to previous versions of the one.

The original actress for the Oracle died from complications due to diabetes. It’s actually a clever plot device they used to explain the recast. The Oracles role was done when Neo rejected the Architects ultimatum. So she was to be deleted and she chose to be an exiled program instead. Explaining that the choice cost her more than she wanted it to resulting in her changed appearance.

Matrix 3 is very complicated once you get into the matrix lore and understand things differently. I would argue its on par or even ahead of first movie in complexity. First one is better an introduction. I would say all 3 movies are 10/10 when you get into lore. There is a reason why this triology is debate topic to this day in forums lol.

"You must be able to see it, Mr. Anderson. You must know it by now. You can't win. It's pointless to keep fighting. Why, Mr. Anderson? Why? Why do you persist?"
    "Because I choose to."
The first movie was about freeing ALL humans from the machine. This movie upholds the status quo. Thanks, I hate it.
Fun Fact: The attack of the sentinels cost $40 million for 14 minutes of action.
Casting Notes Fact: Ian Bliss was cast as Bane, in part because of his dead-on impression of Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving) and for his partial resemblance to Weaving.
Practical Over CGI Fact: A flying rig referred to as "the tuning fork" (rotatable at 360 degrees) was specially constructed for the effect of Neo (Keanu Reeves) and Smith (Hugo Weaving) fighting in the air, heading upwards into the sky.
Tears In The Rain Award Fact: Many of the "raindrops" in the final fight between Neo and Smith are actually single lines of Matrix code, similar to those on displays seen in the "real world" throughout the trilogy. This subtle effect was added to imply the Matrix was beginning to destabilize. This visual trick was easily seen on IMAX and larger movie theaters, but can be seen on smaller televisions as banded rain that seems to "jump" like static during close-ups of the fight scenes.
Recasting Notes Fact: Before she could film her scenes, Gloria Foster passed away from diabetes and The Wachowskis had to re-cast the role of The Oracle, for which Mary Alice was chosen. The Wachowskis decided to establish that in The Matrix universe, programs living inside The Matrix can change and choose their forms and appearances. In the Oracle's case, it is explained in Enter The Matrix (2003) that the Merovingian (Lambert Wilson) had taken her current residual self-image to punish her for helping Neo (Keanu Reeves), forcing her to revert to an older avatar with limited capabilities.

To answers your questions : Yes Neo actually died and will probably meet Trinity in Heaven since he doesen't have any other purpose to live anymore now that she died.
About the people, some who wants to live in the real world, will be freed but there are actually real people who want to stay in the matrix which is understandable in some ways (just like Cypher).
And I disagree, you have to react to the real fourth matrix film : "The animatrix" (2003)

Programs cannot exist without purpose. Smith's purpose was to destroy Neo. Once Neo died, Smith has no purpose and was deleted (per the explanation given at the underground subway scene). Also, Matrix 3 was meant to be the end because the idea for 4 only came way, way later.

  • @cashflowhustles
    @cashflowhustles 26 днів тому +1

Ending a little confusing Ollie? Go back to Part 2 specifically the architect and his speech and probably The Oracle but the Architect speech is CRUCIAL to look at the story and lore behind especially Zion because you seemed a bit confused about Zion. And The Matrix itself? That's kinda left up in the air because the focus was more on the programs than releasing each individual from The Matrix itself which numbers into the BILLIONS.
Remember Zion was about RELEASING people from The Matrix. So if it happened once it can happen again especially with the machines and the sentinels and the agents gone which were ALL PROGRAMS.
Comment getting too long. 🤣😂😅 But go back to Part 2 and The Architects speech.

Roly - The end was NOT rushed once you observe what's going on. I'll explain the end to you. Go back to Neo's conversation with the Oracle. Smith is NEO's OPPOSITE. He's the result of the Matrix attempting balance the equation. What happens when you have things that are polar opposites clashing. They cancel each other. And that's what happened in that last fight scene. NEO couldn't beat SMith by fighting. He had to allow smith to overwrite his code. Think of SMITH = VIRUS & NEO = ANTI-VIRUS. Maybe that analogy will help

And I would suggest completely skipping Matrix 4 altogether as it's most DEFINITELY complete crap. 😅🤣 But that's your call. It's just a suggestion.

I've never hated the Matrix sequels (well, not 2 & 3), though I've always thought of them as less than the original Matrix. I do think they aged quite well. All the action still is quite impressive. All the effects look good. The story beats make sense within the series own internal logic (humans as batteries doesn't hold up, but that's more the studio's mandating a simpler motivation for the machines).
Resurrection, though, is hot garbage. It's especially frustrating every time it flirts with a good idea, but drops the ball completely on execution.
