My mom made her red rice slightly different. She sauteed bacon with celery, onion, and a little garlic. Once completed, drain a can of diced tomatoes combining the liquid with the water that will be used to boil the rice. Season liquid with salt, pepper, onion & garlic powder and bring to a boil. Add the rice, tomatoes, a dash or two of dried thyme and a little sugar and let it cook. You talking bout something thats good, especially paired with salmon croquettes and buttery sweet white corn. !!!!! I'm going to try your version
If you keep the goopy flour on your fingers when you put the ribs in the oil, if the oil pops the flour will protect your fingers from getting popped or burned.

From Gullah Island you did great on that red rice. You can use tomato juice or even pasta sauce. It’s the flavor and the red color for me. Never pink rice!! Lol

So tasty. Just come cook for me 😭😭😭 There are some flavors intended for one meat but work well with other meats and veggies too. Like Old Bay and poultry seasoning. I'd say seasonings intended only for red meat may be too strong for other meats.

i always bake it. but it probably can be made on the stove top too. im using an enamel cast iron with a lid. but you could also put in in a baking dish with a tight foil cover

i think basmati should work. just dont mix it too much so the grains dont break. but it should be very good
