Happy Father’s Day from Tiefenstein, Germany! Join us as we start our journey at the historic Weiherschleife, a traditional gemstone grinding mill that has been beautifully preserved. Here, you can get a glimpse into the craftsmanship and history of the gemstone industry in this region.
From there, we take a scenic trail walk towards Idar-Oberstein. Along the way, we come across the abandoned Dampf Schleife Gaststätte with its eerie yet fascinating beer garden. We also find several deserted cabins, one even equipped with a swimming pool, and another broken into and inhabited by a homeless man. On our way back, we'll revisit these intriguing spots.
Continuing down the trail, we pass the impressive Fissler factory, renowned for producing high-quality cooking pots and equipment. Our path leads us into the heart of Idar, where we stroll through the pedestrian district and take a well-deserved break. We also spot an old school building still in use and undergoing rehabilitation, preserving its historical charm.
Heading back to Tiefenstein, we explore more of this quaint town. We discover a fascinating house featuring a giant residential greenhouse, a gated entry, and a fancy children’s treehouse. The house boasts a very large clock that rings on the hour, fittingly located on Glocken Way, which translates to Bell Way.
