I have just bought this guitar, I love it! The microphone placement for me isn't right though, I feel if you add more than a Quarter way up the sound just gets muddy. It's not a big deal though as with a quarter of the mic and the transducers sounds amazing. It's by far the most natural sounding plugged in guitar sound I've ever heard. I normally use anthem equipped guitars and I feel this system blows it away. I like the anthem pickup but I feel the element in the anthem is very harsh and quacky. There is only so much the tru mic can do to tame the quack

I agree, the mic works differently than in the Cole Clark system. In the CC it rounds off the top end but in the Yamaha it adds more 'air' and 'body' in the mid-range. I still prefer the CC, especially with their latest preamp.

I have an ntx3 and I can't make it sound good, a lot of excess bass coupling, it sounds like a drag, I don't feel comfortable playing it, I regret buying it

Sometimes instruments are not for us and we have to sell up and move on.

I don’t know much about acoustic guitars. But does the pickup system turns the sound completely digital instead of analog? Is this common in acoustic guitar pickup system world?

Beautiful! Yamaha made their own Cole Clark Guitars 3 way pickup system. Good job... but that's all folks! You could interview the guys at Cole Clark, mate.

Yes it does seem to be based on the Cole Clark system but it doesn’t work exactly the same and I feel it recreates more of the sound of the guitar where the Cole Clark system sounds bigger and certainly picks up more of the body. Both great systems depending on the sound that you want and the guitar that you want to play. I have an interview with Cole Clark from a couple months back.

I bought a NTX3 some days ago. The body assembling quality is perfect. Neck, body etc. But the microphone and piezo sound coming like from a cooking pot. I test it with an ACUS ONE acusting guitar combo. I have an APX5na from the past what has much better and more nylon sound. Of course I don't give up but I'm very disappointed firstly. I supprised that the piezo has similar problem like for microphone and very far from APX. Maybe the position is not optimal of them ? Any suggestion ?

This system is warmer sounding than others so you may need to adjust your ear to it. I would play with the settings and use the amp to further dial it in.

I had the same feeling with my NCX3C, muddy lots of low and no highs. I returned the guitar because of it. It is a shame as the guitar is pretty, but it also lacks character in terms of acoustic sound too.

I buy Yamaha A3R are, and I get rid of this pickup system (i think it is the same pickup system) - for me to bommy, muddy and bass overtone sound. Just unnatural acoustic sound, especially on larger sound system. I don't care about extra functions when I cant get natural sound. (fbut that is my opinion) :-(

Hi. No it’s not the same. That’s the SRT 2 system.

    • @montanaokie

I agree that the system is muddy and doesn't sound like a real acoustic sound. The guitars with Atmosfeel are significantly heavier too. I don't care for the controls either. They "look" like they are intuitive, but in practice they aren't. I would remove the system completely if it weren't for the holes for the controls. I purchased the non-electric version because I like the guitar on its own. You may fool your singer/songwriters, but real guitar players will not be satisfied.
