"Would they put them all in a room like that with no parents?" - You learn pretty quickly that Jane is *not* bothered by petty things like "the law" when it comes to eliciting confessions.
1:10 this is actually real called muscle reading. That's what I love about this show: there's a lot of genuine mentalism mixed in with the exaggerated stuff
I’ve never clicked that fast before. 🤓 I love The Mentalist. When life gets tough I like seeing something get resolved in one episode. Same thing with Scorpion. I miss that show.
@@jimhsfbay I get that, but I see it like watching a film or reading a book made by someone who turns out to be a dirt-bag. Everyone has to make their own decision on this matter, but if you cut out all questionable content you're not left with a whole lot.
I love watching The Mentalist and Psych...One feels so real and deep, and then the other is such a fucking clownfest....but they're essentially the same show.
Yeah, trying to figure out the killer in The Mentalist is great. I'm always the type of watcher who immediately thinks the person whom I recognize from another show HAS to be the killer lol so I thought the dad when I watched this ep.
That trick at the beginning of the movie with the car keys -- I've seen the exact same trick live, done by The Amazing Randi, a famous critic of mentalists and mediums and other scammers. The trick works because of a well-documented psychological phenomenon known as the ideomotor effect, the same thing that is used with ouija boards and so-called 'facilitated communication'.
I love all of Patrick's misdirects First, one day, he asks the girl, what animal whats-her-face would be....rabbit He waits an entire day, to let things sink in AND for the girl to forget....then asks the GROUP what animal each of them would be, and Jane starts with one of the boys to distance further......then the girl....a hawk All of these, random, seemingly totally nonsense questions......yet so COMPLETELY on point....and so COMPLETELY disamring
I am going to keep harping on this. Most people not from CA wouldn't know this off-hand, nor could be bothered to look it up, but there is no such place as Santa Marta, CA. There is however the city of Santa Maria, CA. Either this is plain ignorance of the geography of the state of CA (which has already been displayed as being the case in the first two episodes), or a typo that wasn't caught before filming (nor corrected in post), or they purposely made up a place that doesn't exist to set this particular episode.
Dude....let's be honest, when a person hits 40, they tend to have friend of up to 20 years apart 25 to 16, not really major, but for the stigma of adults with minors.....try to tell me that the moment you turned 18, you cut off all your friends who were 17 and 16 and possibly 15

Glad you're having so much fun with this show! It is one of my faves for a reason!

Castle is good for it too, and has a similar (mostly light) tone.
@@cmlemmus494It’s hard for me to rewatch Castle knowing how much the leads hated each other!

I think Jane actually explains the process in a future episode where he uses the trick again. It is actually one of his most used techniques.
I love watching shows with you, you make me laugh 🤭
