- This is RUST and when defending your base you always have an advantage. Today we find out if being duo is enough to repel 8 RAIDERS after only having 1 hour to build, and the raiders have 1 hour to raid. Let's see if numbers really matter, and if your hours make you a good player. Enjoy!
What is Rust? Rust is an INTENSE PVP multiplayer survival game that I've played for THOUSANDS of hours. I've gone on MASSIVE Solo adventures, clan wipes, HUGE raids and just about every experience under the Sun. Exactly!!! And the raiders hardly tried!!! They just kept giving up and whining. They kept running in instead of killing the traps. And max just gangs up on the defenders making the negativity spread. If max would've kept things positive everyone would've kept the bitching to a minimum
I’ve had 100+ shotgun traps in my solo base before and guess who never got fully raided that wipe
just got back into watching max again after a long time, and I normally love his content... but having read the comments I am glad to see that I wasn't the only one taken back with just how poorly max treated the first duo verbally. I understand max had covid at the time, but he clearly was shown the base and the duo clearly pointed out the traps ahead of time. Frankly I was disgusted to see this sort of behaviour from a relatively popular rust content creator and even more disappointed to see he hasn't made any apologies for it.

My guy really said, "I don't want to hear it" about shotgun traps in a base but didn't give them a T3 kinda crazy max. The raiders have incen M2 it's so easy to shoot them out it's not even funny.

And I'd also argue that the amount of shotgun traps is realistic. They are cheap to craft and insanely useful. Any sensible duo thet knew they were about to get raided by an 8 man would craft them till they were out of gears.

Raider pov here, i saw announcement got put in a team in which i am pretty sure i had the most hours in (4k) i was the one holding the whole time and tbf without me the raid woulda been over sooner, from my perspective i didnt know these guys some of which had 600 hours and some were Kids, if it was any proper group it wouldn't have gone that way @@xstelfelkx5665
The shotgun traps were hilarious. Prob a bit much... but tbf... it def made it hilarious to watch! Everytime i heard "OMFG ANOTHER SHOTGUN TRAP!" I died laughing! I remember awhile back when u did the race event and ppl died to traps/mines... peak comedy...
Shotgun traps have always been meta. Not sure why he's acting like in a normal wipe people wouldn't spam the crap out of (cheap and easy to make) Shotgun traps. It's a lot easier to get through then 100 turrets like people used to spam. He trys to make these raids more "fair" by making things as easy as possible for the raiders (like an 8 man isnt a big enough advantage as it is 😂) He acts like people only have 100 incen rounds in their base as well 😂 i stock up on incen like crazy (for just a small base defense) incase of a online. This group of raiders are just cry babies and can't handle losing. They better get used to it though because every clan base will be covered in traps in the future

Wdym cheap to make 2 heard each and if you have ever played vanilla you do not just come across 200 gears for 100 shotgun traps. Especially not for just spamming them blindly
Dude if there that late into wipe they will run into farmers with the gears and slowly collecting enough to have 60-80+

M on console and well you can power alot of turrets atm it will change tho but yer there's some hard raids over on console turret spam ect but yer shity traps be easy to get or craft its a good BP to have
I think a proper raid team which is playing togheter for longer would be really interesting to see

@@exonymousprime defenders already have a huge advantage to start off with its their base they know the strengths and weaknesses, where to peek, they have traps and turrets, etc.. the raiders are the ones who farmed hours for the boom and gear necessary to do the raid when i go to online someone i want pvp not pve i want to fight the players not the base itself

The pvp you are seeking isn't realistic for Rust, and the scenarios like it. You sound like you should be playing first-person or third-person shooter pvp games, not Rust or any game where you're meant to make a and use traps play fortnite zero build.

Why would the defenders not do everything in their power to defend the hours and hours of their farm and base? The point of this game isnt pvp, its about protecting what is your. Their is something called modded servers though, you may like them a lot more if you want braindead pvp.

Yeah I loved both bases, the wider one looked really interestign and the raiders didn't even push into the inner compound so it was VERY effective!

@MaxsRust only effective for an online though. The first base is the mvp for onlines and offlines in my opinion. Second base was still a good base, but if you're not building for an offline, you've already lost the fight.
@@orcristghost3204 wdym the first base built for offlines? It has a simple 4x4 open core 1 wall and 4 garage doors and you're in and the turrets are no problem since you could shoot through the ramps nowadays with rockets
This was sad to see from the raiders POV, really good communication from the defenders on both sites, maybe you should try to do 2 defenders vs a group of 8 that plays together normally, would be fun to see the difference in comms and gameplay etc.
I agree the raiders had verrrryyyy poor comms, and I honestly think their game sense needs a lot of improvement
I focus on shotgun traps during my wipes i have near 5k hours and I am in a 8 man myself we have near 100 at the end of the wipe. Its not unrealistic. To say i dont wanna fckn hear it was wild to me. Its a 8v2 when they rocket from raid base and have incen m2s theres no excuses
This is why I hate people who raid in rust they want everything unfair for the bases and defenders, so it's easy for them. They don't actually want a challenge in raiding they just want to steam roll, which is stupid and no fun and makes no sense in a game where you have to defend as best as possible. I like rust and watching people play but can't stand the constant bitching when those who want to raid everyone can't do so super easy like the raiders on here and just complain, what the guys did on the first base was what your supposed to do which is make it so bad and annoying to raid you don't raid. I like this idea for content, but I always feel like you put too many restrictions on the defenders and the base builders and give way to few to the raiders because if you want a true test of both sides skills they need to have everything they need not just what you think they would/should need or have. It sounds like you're going to place more restrictions on the base biulders/defenders now just because of some lazy raiders who want to raid easily and don't want things to be real and legit. Because, let's be honest, here in the scenario of base builders/defenders again raiders, the raiders would be the ones at a disadvantage, not the ones getting raided. The defenders are at their home base while the raiders are away from home and would have far less than the defenders it would not be the other way around being so limited like you have them be. Again, don't get me wrong, I like your videos, but I do believe you make it too unfair for the builders/defenders in them, tho when it should be different from that.

@Noel_ Yes, it's supposed to be very hard, not easy or fair like so many want it to be. When someone wants to steal from you, you give them no quarter and feel nothing for them, you give them hell for what they are trying to do
I myself agree with your statement, I like Max’s content however as you mentioned there’s just way too many restrictions on the builders/defenders to have a more legitimate scenario of a raid max should give the builders as much time as they need to build the base and then send the raiders in.
More over the content is good just the rules and regulations max has are way overboard.
I’m part of. Fairly large teams that’s been around for coming upon 8 years I believe and there’s a really amazing builder who’s been playing rust since 2013 so his building has been mastered over countless hours (27,000 i believe) I would love to see him or someone like him with the knowledge of building and put against any team and any number. I can confidently say give him 1 hour and no restrictions on the building he’ll produce the most amazing architectural masterpiece of a base you’ve ever seen that’ll eat rockets for a full 7 course meal and still have room for supper

@scouseamo7071 I agree that's how I feel as well. If you want a true test of their building skills, have no restrictions on them, then let the raiders try and raid and if the end goal is to see how long and how much it takes ok but don't limit the builders/defenders the way he has been. An actual all-out fight with raiders on a base that's fully built, loaded, and armed would be very entertaining and more realistic than how Max has them be

i think the shotgun trap at beginning was fair because of i am a due and i know i large group of raiders come i would do anything to stop them including spamming shotgun trap all over the base . and it's Fair because you limit them with time limit in real wipe people have 24h to build a full base so 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️ i think it's fair
There should be counters added, no? Raiders and defenders don't know there will be counters but against 8man raid team, say 2 and 3 man counters show up. Maybe put it on a timer so if they hit 30min, first 2man counter shows up. At 45min, 3man counter shows up. Hazzy T2 6 meds, small walls. Or 2 metal ak counter once.
Yeah I'm thinking about having a team of counters but that's still in the works, the hardest part of organising these is finding people who are all available at the same time

Problem is hrs does not make that much diffrense in this recoil, i got high 3k hrs and beat 10k hr + players daily, nearly all my hrs has been pvp so i got game sense of a high hr player aswell ;) Me n beta got good teamwork due to us playing together for loads of hrs. Perfect match when a builder and a pvper goes together ;)

I agree, but that's how most raiders are in most games where you can raid bases, unfortunately, and people want to cater to them, which isn't right if your gonna raid it should be very difficult to do it
Having randoms is fine. It encourages community engagement. But there should always be a leader that calls the shots to prevent people being unorganised like this group.

I dont think the shotgun traps were necessarily unfair, if a team (even a duo) are on a monyhly server and already have bps done then they'll have tens kf thousands of scrap to spend and just buy them. Maybe not to those numbers but its very possible.
As for teams, i think any 8 man is usually going to be chaos when raiding unless they're constantly playing raid servers every wipe with each other.
Its on them to coordinate better, not one of them said im building fob, you're upgrading, everyone place their own beds, who has doors (before they took off). Sure the kid was griefing, hard to say if on purpose, but theres still 7 others who didn't get doors, help build etc

Holy the 2 raid was crazy! Just shows that a good builder and a god pvper can concer rust. Defo keep them for future videos, fun playstyle and raw skill, loved the tree play by the Lant guy aswell, it really worked out good.
beta and lantaelias' synergy is next level. deff should have them against against an organized 8 they have my vote for the win. i was laughing so hard when lant was destroying them from the tree and beta was smokin em while griefing the raid base. that raid was almost over 2 minutes after it began haha

And the raid team was absolutely horrendous..
I would like to see every defender item be given a points value based on how common they are in vanilla rust base. e.g. grenade=5 points. ak=100 points. med=2 points. shotgun trap=15. Then allow the defenders 10,000 points to assign however they see fit. This way we could identify any underutilised defence metas. e.g. If the average rust base has very few shotgun traps, then they would be assigned a low point value. If, in your tests, defenders are still choosing to allocate a large quantity of their points towards shotgun traps then this means that we have discovered an underutilised meta.

Take it on the chin and accept that its your fault the first raid played out as it did. Its not their fault you have an undefined ruleset. Theres was no reason for you as the organizer to speak to them like you did. I spam shotgun traps in my base every wipe, they're very easy to destroy.
He's sheep minded and shows his true colors during the first raid. He just went with the popular opinion (which obviously would have been the raiders side since they had 8 people complaining compared to the 2 defenders) He should honestly make a public apology to the defenders because he was all for it at first, and then completely switched up because 8 lazy, unskilled raiders were saying it was dumb

Great vid as always Max. You deserve more subs for sure. I have to say tho I think against a more organized team the shotgun traps wouldn't have been that much of an issue. Like at some point the same guy died to one trap 2 or 3 times. At a different point they were holding breach but didn't even check for traps next to them, so they ended up backing into these traps. Also they team killed with rockets at least twice. What I'm trying to say is that with more clear coms and a more organized team they would not have had such a struggle with the traps. Finally I also found it kind of annoying how toxic the raiders got when it wasn't going their way. The traps sure were annoying but it still was just a friendly raid and nobody actually lost any gear they farmed for so I don't see why they got so mad about traps and rocket pvp. Second raid was waaaaay more fun to watch, even tho that one kid griefed the shit out of them.

I love the concept of these vids but i just feel as tho when the raiders lost this time they tried every excuse they could find, loads of mistakes made but the biggest was when on the first raid one of the raiders told the others to not call hits/kills as then they was all chasing dead players and getting pushed from behind

look at it from my perspective, i was put in a vc with some random 7 people which most of them didnt have 2k hours and only one guy had the same hours as me (4k) i've never met these people and from what i gather most of them barely even play the game and the only reason they wanted to attend was to be around max

@lordyplay7903 Yes, but whether you're on an x2 server or not, if you want the amount of turrets they had on their base, you can get it if you put in the work to get them but for some reason people be acting like it's impossible or that you just shouldn't have that many because they think it's not fair to the raiders. Which is funny because why would you feel that way for someone trying to steal from you, you know what I mean.

As a duo or solo building a base that big you would absolutely have that many shotgun traps. How else are you supposed to defend against massive groups?
Also they are cheap to break, these raiders would either ignore them or stand still draining them.
most of them were spaced apart so you couldnt splash, and when you are focused on not dying to defenders you are not gonna have a lot of time to focus to shotty traps
To be fair the raiders clumped a lot on the second raid, which led to easy grenade kills and I find it easier to kill multiple targets when they are all close together. In the first raid, I think they made a poor choice of continuing to run into shotgun traps rather than slowing down, keeping the defenders pinned, and creating a path in. That one room inside with all those shotgun traps was a 1 maybe two max HV and like 9+ shotgun traps broken.

think random players as raiders are difficult because they are not really playing so much as a team, whereas the defenders are very confident with their teammates. Specially after that shotgun trap abuse, think everyone was a bit tense and frustrated going into the 2nd raid.
Was fun to watch, definitely entertaining and i can imagine that this takes so much time to do.

I build a tank offline base with 40+ shotgun traps, 6 turrets, and flame turrets as well. It never gets fully raided, does always get griefed hard though hahaha

As a strict solo/duo player after we get all our g doors down EVERY I mean EVERY gear we get go towards shotguns traps, if we don’t have atleast 50+ we don’t stand a chance in an online scenario.
You should have a dedicated raiding squad. Obv some players can change out. But a core raiding squad would be sick. Then you can put the bases and defenders against a standard.
So we learned today that shotgun traps are really good.

The shotgun traps are reasonable surprisingly, theyre cheap to make and maintain but easy to break so idk why the team was complaining. They were getting mad they couldnt get far because they were really workinh together
