Chris, Alan Woods would tell you that “the dead end of Kantianism” was that “Kant denies that it is possible to know things as they are ‘in themselves’ “, and that “his fundamental mistake was not to see the relation between appearance and essence.”
I think that Woods is saying that only a persons actions determine the true content of what they are thinking; or vice versa.
What do you think of this summary?

Woods is undialectical and sub-Kantian. As Lenin wrote, “leaving him, proceeded not towards materialism, but in the opposite direction, towards Hume and Berkeley.” Kant was not about what cannot be known - not Humean skepticism - but how we can and do know: about the possibilities not impossibility of subjectivity. Woods proceeds on false premises. As Lenin said, intelligent idealism is better than stupid materialism. Also, importantly Kant himself prioritized practice before theory.
