Little Jewels Of Flight

Hummingbirds are the smallest birds of the Americas and occur nowhere else in the world. If you are a resident of the Americas or a visitor from abroad, you either have a hummingbird feeder, know someone with one or have visited one in your travels. If you have one or have visited one, did you really see what was going on with the interaction of these little winged jewels, probably not completely because the action can be fast and furious at times. The star performers are Anna's and Allan's Hummingbird. Allen's Hummingbird are the ones with rufous sides. Hummingbirds are not the ony species that frequently visit a feeder, as you will see.

Beautiful :-) For 10 years I was in a situation which allowed me to have 30 feeders of different sizes, and every day, first thing in the morning, and again at twilight, these would be visited by upwards of 75 hummers - ruby throated in my case. The sound was amazing, and their antics delightful :-)
