Comedy died, and like a pheonix, it rose from the ashes as this, the final funny joke

TheHaigisawesome you know, I’m going to steal this

Hi there
I'M THE BOMB SQUAD!!!!!
This man. Dropped half a grand for a “kid” to talk about Spider-Man. If that ain’t a GD power move idk wut is.
I really hope this will get him out of debt
Oppediah that killed me
@Oppediah I would say gimp but that means something dirty and completely different.
Big dick energy
And during an economic crash
"Frankly I'd rather have a banana "

"I want a banana so GIVE ME MY BANANA" -Johnny Blaze
So that’s it, huh? We’re some kinda BOMB SQUAD.
Lancel0t , is that from where I think that’s from?
Could you imagine what the 60's spider-man show would look like with Fliescher Superman's budget? I could. It was beautiful.
That sounds like I'd be amazing.
Well we got Spider-Verse
xd
Back in the 1940's, Home Televisions we're not yet invented.
So the Fliescher, Superman cartoons were filmed for theatrical use.
This was at a time when animation standards were at their peak. A time when animation was a pinnacle of special effects.
It was not a case of the Superman cartoon creators going above and beyond the animation standard.
It was a case of them meeting the very high standards that the 1940's animation studios, would demand.
However by the 1960's that all changed.
The introduction of low resolution TV's, meant that cartoons could be made at a much much much lower budget.
Also animation had dropped from it's pinnacle spot on top the special effects mediums. It was still a front runner but by this time, Directors had perfected the art of perspective realism.
So while the 1960's spider-man cartoon does not look impressive compared to the standard of 1940's animation. However when you compare it to other televised cartoons from the 60's, it's actually really impressive.
Especially when compared to other superhero cartoons of the time. i.e. Captain America had a cartoon in the 60's that was 100% static...
It would've never hapenned,
early TV animation was always lower quality than any of the Fleischer's theatrical shorts
I gotta admit, what I love most about this Spider-Man Is how he could create weapons from his webbing that was almost indestructible. Sure it doesn’t make sense, but it helps him stand out from other Spider-men.
That was something that came straight from the comics.
Its kinda like shattered dimensions and web of shadows
That was ONLY in the first season. Bakshi wisely got rid of those silly gimmicks quickly.
It always weirded me out that the 60s Spider-Man sounded like an a Detective in his 50s, who was “too old for this sh•t”
A Hard boiled detective who’s too old for this S#&t
SPiDer CoP
He sounds like every 50's/60's superhero
Translation: Superman. He sounds like superman
Actually the mask was supposed to muffle his voice. Stan LEE wrote that in the comics
@@cellmate1 Yeah but it wouldn't make his voice so masculine. Hold a peice of cloth to your face and see what it sounds like.
I thought it was confusing as a kid when you would have episodes with villains like Electro and The LIzard, and then Spider-Man's transported to an alien world. Found out years later that it was because they just recycled backdrops from Rocket Robin Hood.
I didn’t even know you made Spider-Man videos until now!
Didn't expect to see you here coach. A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one!
Bruh
Woah
Ironic, Vulture dresses like a bird, but cannot save himself against their attacks.
ironically,, the vulture's secret weakness...was birds
Truly a tragedy, was the tale of Adrian Toomes the squaker.
Desperate deadline doom and NO money left will do that to the "writing."
I wish 60’s Spider-Man was on Disney+
I wish more Spider-Man was on Disney+
PlasticPeopleProductions I agree with you.
I wish the holy trilogy was on Disney +
@@internetdog9523 BEEEECCCKKKKK!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish all marvel stuff was on disney+
*In the intro, when Spider-Man catches the metal strip he stops in mid air then starts going up again...*
That's why I love this show
Perhaps the added weight of the metal strip caused the web to be pulled on more, causing a "rubber band" effect shooting Spidey upward at a weird angle.
Or, more simply, cartoon physics
69th like
One of the best parts of the show for me was it’s awesome soundtrack.
The old school jazz is just so appealing to me.
What about the 80s spider man show with out his amazing friends .
I was just wondering the same thing, I recently watched them back to back, as is customary!
next time
Idk why but I never liked the amazing friends it's just lame in my opinion if you like it you like it so good bye (ps I don't want to anger anybody)
They died apparently. In the Spider-Geddon event
@@lune-3214 not quite, alternate timeline
so, can't wait for his opinion on ultimate spiderman
Edit: Spider-Man

@@HellNutcase I forgot the hyphen because I was fighting the rhino.
Don't forget the hyphen between Spider and man
No, because this is not a Spider-man channel! We never talked about him over here. 😉
@@undergrounder Yeah, it's obviously a Deadpool and TMNT channel (also featuring DC, Image, Marvel, SpongeBob, and Wander Over Yonder content).
Paul Soles and Neil Patrick Harris don’t get enough credit for the directions they took in softening Peter’s voice and deepening Spidey’s. It’s a good dynamic I wish we saw more of. It’s unfortunate that, to my surprise, the concept was originally going to be in the PS4 game.
9:47 hey look, it's ben reilly!
Oh thats why they colored him like that i see now
Also im extremely sure someone will r/woooosh
11:50 oh so that's where the budget went.
joking aside, i did see a few episodes of this show fully, and i actually liked it, yea it's goofy and cheesy, but spider-man does actually sound kinda cool sometimes, even if he sounds a tad old.
I thought the origin episode was done really well.
That’s a gorgeous shot ngl I would use it as a wallpaper honestly
Not gonna lie this is my favorite Spider-Man show of all time, I grew up with Spectacular Spider-Man on tv but I had the DVD’s of the 67' show in my house and I remember all the weird ass storylines, and the creepy ominous tone of some episodes, the amazing soundtrack which can be downright scary and ambient, and all of the issues he and others have for this show minus the animation mistakes are the reason I love it so much, I can watch any adaptation of Spider-Man and find the comic book villains, I like the weird creatures and out of place episodes because they’re unique.
Unique. Yes!
Not much of THAT around these days!
A good fan is one who loved the show while still acknowledging the bad/flawed parts of it
I needed me some GodzillaMendoza while I’m trapped in my house!
grew up with this show despite being born in 2006. such a throwback and i still have every season on dvd somewhere. loved it as a kid
6:06 I'd pay to watch an entire movie or series of an animated 60s variant of Peter who never got bit travel the marvel multiverse just taking pics of cool shit.
This was the series that introduced me to Spidey at a very young age (this and the 90's animated series). I liked watching it and loved the theme song, sure I'm older and now knowing that the animation is clunky but it's still enjoyable to watch.
The only time I hear about this show is when it's being used for memes and I quite frankly am tired of that.
edge lord why ?
@@jagtech490 he's the edge lord, so he's tired of everything
@@monkeyman2728 Might also be because this show should also be looked apon (or upon, idk) based on it's own merit rather than it's memes, which I haven't done before the release of this video.
me and the boys being tired of 60's spider-man memes
@@justanotherschmuck4149 ok that was clever
6:30
I need this in a tv show with Xavier to voice Spidey.
0:16 I'd say 20 years too early for that.
Well that’s weird, I was just finishing your Spider-Man retrospective playlist
Are we not going to talk about how badass the montage that starts at 11:22 is?
You know the virus is bad when it's making Xavier question his viewpoints on the 60s spiderman show
I remember I grew up on this show, and seeing it now brings back such nostalgia. Great video!
11:23 the music is so GOOD
I’ve got the whole show on dvd, while it’s definitely dated it’s dumb fun
Ah yes, Mendoza starts yet another review series without finishing the last one, ah classic Xavier
I mean, somebody donated $500 for this one.
Theme Song From Spider-Man 1967 Is The Most Known 60's Super Hero Theme, Along With Theme Song From Batman 1966.
Glad to see someone look more into this show than only a source for memes.
This will be one for the history books. I WAS gonna binge Daredevil for the first time but now I gotta finish the 90's series on Disney + before you get to it.
Spider Knight no do daredevil first
That little montage at the end of this video was kind of really really powerful. Yeah, Xavier did that really well and it was satisfying to watch sooooo congrats on that Xavier!
Xavier making this quarantine somewhat bearable with the quality content
Spider-Man 60’s is a hilarious show.
1960s Spiderman was my shit growing up. I remember my dad always singing the theme song to me and my sister when we were kids in Nigeria. And then I saw a few episodes and instantly became a fan of Spiderman and comics in general.
I love 60s Spider-Man, A friend got a DVD set of the series for my birthday, I love it unironically despite its flaws
Ah, a new Spidey Retrospective for the new generation of Bomb Squads. Let's see where this journey takes us.
Also, new background!
0:09 **ooh he crip walkin doe**
I remember as a kid watching a dvd box set of this show that my mom got from the library. I loved it. I'm glad my parents showed me so much superhero media they enjoyed as kids, I feel like it's given me a greater appreciation for the characters in all their forms, from goofy to serious
I remember watching this show as a kid and the evil laugh in "The Power of Doctor Octopus", the first episode, STILL scares me. I love this show and I am so glad that I'm not the only one who thinks that this is a great show on par with the others. And I don't think the second half episodes are bad, either, they are pretty cool and creative
As a young child I watched this program, I only watched series 2 but I fell in love with it. The psychedelic visuals, the strange characters and a unique spiderman set in the beautiful american yesteryear. This program both frightened me and made me think about morality, about why people do things and why they don't. People will never appreciate this program like I do because I was brought up with it and you always appreciate your childhood media. As a child, you don't notice spiderman doing that exact same swing on a different background, you don't question why spiderman is travelling to the ends of the earth where prehistoric men roam; 60's spiderman is a dreamscape for children and I experienced it firsthand. I don't expect anyone to understand or even appreciate the program, this is just my personal thoughts and feelings of one, strange show.
This show is ONLY known because of MEMES made from the scenes..also it gives some Nostalgia points to Curent staff of marvel Hipsters
The 2nd episode of that Star Trek cartoon won an Emmy. If you think this was unfairly maligned, you should appreciate that one as well.
60s Spiderman and 60s batman were the same.
_A treasure_
Xavier this series has been a hell of a ride thank you for literally doing a retrospective off all the spider man cartoons sure now this will permanently make you known as the spider man guy instead of deadpool but your videos really are fun and relaxing to watch so keeping going strong man and thanks Jonathan Stubbs for requesting such a cool idea.
Best music on any animated show ever!.Someone on UA-cam made a 2 hr or so compilation of the music that’s really awesome
I had no idea this wasn't an unironically liked show. This show was killer as a kid!! I sat for hours and hours watching it, it was basically what got me interested in the character!! Sure it's pretty campy, but in a good way!
Man paid 500$ And you skipped over the other 400
RIP Paul Soles, the original voice of Spiderman! He died this week at age 90.
I loved this show and I’m 12. I watched it all the time when I was younger. And it came out around 50 to 60 years ago
"That shit came out in 1941 and i think its better than most of the stuff made now"
Thats because they used an old animation technique called "rotoscoping" in which they record something in real life and trace it in animating. Ive tried it myself and gotten the same results.
1:13 did you say the near apocalypse of 09??. i now love this channel even more
8:45!! I remember times being crazy but damn!!! LMAO! This is amazing, love it! Thanks Donovan!!
Your sense of humour is so on point, I enjoyed this WAYYYY more than I expected to !!!
60s spider-man isn't a cohesive story, more than it is just a bunch of spider-man stories that could take place anywhere and anytime.
3:29 ”in color”
*it’s black and white*
In the 70's, this was my introduction to Spider-man. Loved him ever since.
4:03 dude you’re reaction to this made laugh so hard I started coughing blood
"It's Bitchin time"
- Xavier
I'm 40 and when I was a kid, I had a VHS of the best episodes of this series. I dont know where it came from, I never asked for it..
my parents used to go to HMV and Virgin, WHSmith etc and bought loads of tapes and lasterdiscs on sale. We had a really odd collection of stuff.
So, Ive only seen maybe 5 epiaodes of this and missed the rest. But the good ones were great!
Thank you for making this! I watched most of the spiderman cartoons and played most of the games as a kid. I loved your game retrospective because it made me feel like I wasn't alone in my childhood obsession with spiderman (although not much has changed I guess haha), and this does the same!
The 67 truly did have some of the BEST jazz background music.
I like this show both for its accuracy and for how unapologetically weird it is
It’s Spider-Man he’s not exactly a stranger to weird shit before or after this
Long have I waited for this review!
Also, the new background is pretty sweet!
Vaporwave spider Man is iconic
👋
Where's the second episode GODZILLAMENDOZA WHERE IS IT!!!
I'm glad there's someone who talks Spider-man on this site. I love your other stuff too!
The montage from 11:22 to 12:17 is really great. It highlights a lot of what 60s Spidey did right.
I've been subscribed to you and have been watching your videos for sometime now, but God, your content is amazing! I really do enjoy the content that you put out. I enjoyed your Ultimate Spider-Man playthrough the most, even though that was a long time ago and it's not one of your highest viewed series. Watching that series actually made me want to get back into Spider-Man comics and T.V. shows, so thanks for that. Needless to say, I'll always watch your content, regardless of it having anything to do with Spider-Man. So, keep doing what you're doing, Xavier!
Wallopin' websnappers! That review was amazing!
"Robbers, killers, beware! Spider-Man is here!
Thus... a legend is born. As a new name is added to those who make the world a fantasy, the most exciting realm of all."
Doctor Noah Body is the funniest, cheapest thing ever, he’s invisible so they don’t have to animate him
Imagine saving up your allowance to get your favorite youtuber to do a video😂 thats pretty sweet actually.
Therapist# Jameson robot isn't real, it can't hurt you.
Jameson robot:
I haven't seen anyone mention this yet but some of the original villains and plots come from a show called rocket robin hood, both that and the spiderman we're created by the same people, and sometimes even used the exact same episode and just imposed spiderman on top of robin hood
Phelan portous has an entire video showing just how similar they are
I really like the 60s costume tbh. Always thought the complete lack of webbing on his torso (clearly done to simplify) works really well in a hard to explain way. It just feels right to me.
Always happy to see a new Godzillamendoza video!!! Be sure to keep clean and keep safe Xavier!😁😁😁 can't wait for the next video!
“I tried a collaboration with another UA-camr and he said “I haven’t really made any Spider-Man videos”” GM, how about we collaborate? And yes, I do make Spider-Man videos. ;)
This was my first spiderman cartoon despite me growing up in the 90's
The first episode I saw of this show was the Origin episode, because it was on a VHS as bonus with 4 90's cartoon episodes.
I fell in love with it because I was a dumb kid, but I still bought the complete DVD collection and watch a couple episodes every now and then because this show is fascinating.
I grew up in the late 70's/early 80s (Generation X) and I really have fond memories of watching the syndicated reruns of this series on local Channel 5 (NYC) after school, usually 4pm. I honestly don't remember it's quality being shabby since the Hanna-Barbera superhero cartoons (Space Ghost, Birdman) or other shows were the same level. Honestly, I was happy to see superheroes animated on tv period! Now the later psychedelic episodes were some crazy weird shit and discomforting to watch at times, but they fascinated me too, and left an impact.
I was so happy to hear that I wasn’t the only one who loved the old Superman show
This was really entertaining and thoughtful. Great video, man.
I watched this growing up as a kid in the 70s.
Loved it.
6:05 - That gave me a huge grin on my face. Everytime you release a video it makes my day.
That opening vaporwave is too good like it should be its own video.
What was the name of the vapor wave?
@@squidy6526I've been trying to find it. It says on the description that it was made by that other UA-camr
"Spiderman , Spiderman , does whatever a spider can "
That song will never die.
#RespectTheHyphen
11:44-12:14 I don’t know why I love this so much
I like the new background effect. Also agree on the video and don't rush the future ones. Take as much time as you need
This show had a great adaptation of Spidey's origin story. Also, the music used for that montage at the near end of your video is one of my favorite music pieces of all time.
The music definitely played a part of the coolness of this show.
Digging that new red-striped backdrop! Great video, overall!
Now THIS is the retrospective I’ve been waiting for 🕷👍
One of the best pieces of Spider-Man history, no doubt!
I think people would be glad to hear you talk about hero shows in general. Stuff like X-Men and Batman too. Also, that Toonami style montage at the end was pretty cool.
