- Fortunately the batteries for my camera worked even when the Texas electrical grid failed us. I'll be back next week with a music related video, but until then, enjoy my family's journey through a once in a lifetime Texas winter.

Jon, your videography never ceases to astound me. I'm glad that you and family are safe and well, and I hope, quite frankly, that it soon melts!!
Thanks, Wesley! I was in shorts yesterday. :)
So glad you all were OK. Also: I love these little slice-of-life films.
Thanks, David. They are certainly fun to make.
Hey Jon. A snowy winter is a beautiful thing when you're well prepared for it but it's got to be hell when you're not expecting it. We don't control much in this world and we take so much for granted. Hang in there, stay strong and keep that positive attitude. You have the strength to turn this hardship into a beautiful memory for your family. Cheers from freezing Canada!
Thanks, Ian! We were very fortunate this past week.
Jon Your music skill is only rivaled by your filmmaking and storytelling. You're a blessed man my fiend. J
I appreciate that, Jim.
It’s good to hear that you and your family are OK, Jon. Best wishes from Scotland, where that kind of weather is a bit more common! Take care.
Thanks, David! All the best to you in Scotland!
Glad y'all are Safe! We hit -20 in Fayetteville, all time lowest temp, and got 6 inches. We are so lucky that we didn't loose power. Thinking about all the people in TX. Best to you and your family.
Gotta get some snow shoes :) I love how much stillness and silence there is on snow days. Glad you’re all good down there.
Snow shoes and a decent sled! Our pool tube was not up to the task!
Thank you for sharing Jon.
I was born in a country where snow is seasonal and, yes, it does have its down side and can wreak havoc.
I have lived in sunny South Africa for many years and miss the snow. You have captured its beauty perfectly.
I don’t know anyone is Texas but when I heard the news in England, I thought to myself, “I hope Jon and his family are ok!” Good to see you are!
I really appreciate that! We are very fortunate.
Lovely work as always... glad you guys made it through relatively unscathed. We have power grid fun here sometimes, and it’s a drag when it’s cold outside. It’ll be a fun memory for the kids for their whole life. Well, unless it keeps happening as they say it might.
Hopefully our power grid can get its act together so we can enjoy it a little more next time. Thanks, Brian!
Glad you didn't have too bad of a time - you made it an adventure it seems. Either way it's a high stress situation, especially with a family, good on you for making it through ok!
It's super normal for us up in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada to have waaaaaaay more snow than what Texas got... but we've got the plows, salt, snow tires, and super warm clothes for it. Praying for y'all down there.
Great little film, Jon!
Wholesome content in tough times ❤️❤️❤️
I'm glad you and your family are doing okay! After about 30 hrs straight of no power, my fiance and I went to stay with some friends that still had heat (the hills of Austin are not fun to drive on when covered with ice!) We're back home now, and while we still don't have running water, we did stock up on water bottles before the storm hit. What a crazy week! I'm looking forward to getting back to normal - well... a socially distanced amid a pandemic type of normal...
I'm glad you're safe. Up in Canada we are more used to it, but if the power goes out or the furnace dies, it's bad. ❤🥶 Last week it was a -51°C (-59.8°F) windchill.
Oh Jon, I've always been enjoying your music-related videos, but it's due to moments like this one that I feel like I am keeping up with a friend. Keep it up there, hope you're back in "normality" already
Very much back to normal here. Thanks for checking in and for the encouraging words.
I'm glad you guys were not TOO badly affected by the storm! I grew up in Chattanooga TN, so I can totally relate to not being prepared for low temps and lots of snow. Being in Calgary now, we get excited when it gets UP to freezing for a few days. Happy that everyone is safe and healthy!
I'll join with others in saying thanks for the update. Music's important but not as important as real life. Good luck
That was a very good video. I'm glad you guys made it through safe and sound.
Thanks so much. We were fortunate and life is back to normal now.
Lovely family and sweet insight in to your live in this strange time. I wish you all the best. Here in Iceland we are used to the snow, but we are spoiled with a rather secure power grid as well as heating system. But this year it has been much less snow and some parts had way too much rain. Even so that there have been landslides taking houses with them. Luckily no lives lost though.
Beautyful shots!!!
Thanks, Carles!
Nicely put together sir! Good to hear there are varying degrees of impact as here in the UK we are just hearing the horror stories. Stay safe.
Yes, the serious issues were all power and water related. Some folks are still boiling water. We were very fortunate.
Nice to see you having fun. I have to say I have been thinking about you and your family since the storm hit Texas...
Here in Canada, we are used to cold and snow. That said, I can only image how hard it must be when you live somewhere that is not prepared for it. Hope it all melts away into a memory soon. Glad you captured the good stuff on video. Take care.
Same here, in Québec, Canada. We take for granted that we know how to walk on ice without falling and everything, but we are used to it since we are born, so yeah, must be very special to experience this. I wonder how much insulated are their houses? If at all... I mean they must have heating since in desert or similar areas, nights are pretty chilly sometimes so I hope they are not too cold. Power outage is probably the main ennemy, not so for the snow or cold.
But with summer tires on every car... it could be a nightmare when most have not learned how to drive in snow.
I thought of you when the blackouts made the news over here in the U.K.
Glad you came out the other side ok.
Thanks, Jim. All is well. Others around us were not so fortunate. I think most power is back on but some cities are still dealing with a contaminated water supply.
So crazy for southern US! Does make for some great footage though! Love the snowball shot! LOVE the music in this. Stay safe!
Hi from Norway, where snow is not unusal ;-)
I imagine so! Hello from Texas!
Stay safe!
Beautiful video
Thanks so much Matt!
Did you write the music specifically for this video? Amazing on all fronts. Please do more videos like this.
Your Southern Cousins feel ya. We were going through the same "thang" in Mississippi. But we made it Pimp.
Ha! All the best to you. 120 degrees is much easier than 8, IMHO!
You all stay safe and look after each other Jon. Thanks for letting us know you’re all ok with a great film and music. ✌️
Lovely film Jon! I can't say I miss the snow, I grew up in Montreal! It has only snowed once in the 25 years I've been in Ireland, which lasted over a day. Stay safe and see you next week! From wet and chilly Kinsale! ☘️☮️🤘🏽🤠👍🏽☮️☘️
Stay Safe..
You should sample it!
The kids seemed to have enjoyed it! I'm still getting used to the very (VERY) snowy winters in Montréal, but it can surely be fun!
Quick question regarding the audio mix in you videos, I'd been wondering for a while, what do you use to control the underscore's volume? Do you use side chain compression or is it automated? :) All best
Warming the toilet seat 😭 Now that is how kids should earn their pocket money! Great video Jon
That's not a snow storm. That's the dust of souls of oil billionaires and it works great for skiing on. (Or might also be Ted Cruz' dandruff.)
: )
I honestly don't see why kids should get money for a normal household chore
Ha! You're absolutely right.
I too lived thru that winter, however, im a bit further south than you. We lost power for a couple days, but had nowhere near the amount of snow. 10 years ago i installed a woodstove so i dont pay as much in electric to heat my house in winter. However, it was still a bit of an adventure
Stay safe!
