Although I have no formal music training, I do have a small music studio with a computer as one of the components. Playing around with music software provides and excellent way to understand theory and I like how you demonstrated the 7th as a way to take a line of musical thought in a different direction. I appreciate all the time you two put into these videos. Though I haven't opened my DAW in several months, I'm starting to get the itch again. Over the past few years, I've come a long way as a beginner not even knowing the difference between a major and minor chord and now I'm into many different types of chords as well as fancy-pants modulations, which is where I find fantastic things happen. Like many people, I still need more work on the mixing and equalizing part before I start sharing too much, but it looks like maybe it'll all come together at the same time. :) Thanks again!

Here's an idea to discuss. what if you resolved to a root note, but changed the underlying chord to something unexpected? I think the fourth chord played in the chorus of "Bury the Light" Casey Edwards and Victor Borba might be an example? for that one chord in the chorus, we get a total key change before going back to its original key.
I also like the idea of repeatedly setting up a natural resolution, only for a third or later instance of the phrase resolving the melody as expected, but playing an unpleasant chord, that is in stark conflict with the melody's expectation.
not quite the same thing, but I'm reminded of the outro of "Other Friends" from the Steven Universe Movie, where something similar happens with both the melody and chords.
    general thoughts?

just another great lesson, that teached me how far I am from being a good at music theory
pteety the same like the one that my kids gave me last week - they get a new melody from their teacher - this time it was a melody for 3 instruments, so I could eventually join two cellos with my bass but... I can't read notes in 5 lines - I can only read letter notation (CDEF...)
My kids have found some YT tutorial about how to learn notes and now I'm the one who must try hard to keep up. I foud some hints like FACE - very childish :)))
isn't that too late for learning this after 40?
    hope not
the same as it is never too late to learn EN (which I should aswell)
    Keep rockin' !!!
