- Another adventure utilizing the Boat Anchor buddy phone app. The Boat Anchor buddy locates vintage tube type Ham Radios and amplifiers. Title says it all. I was very lucky today. Saved this true piece of history from a trip to the dumpster. Yes, it was that close to its doom. I was contacted by this guy, paid the kings ransom and brought this jewel home. It is 100% complete, including the Great Britain tubes! Now the question, do I build it? More updates soon. enjoy!
I sent this to my brother, he built this amp, the pre-amp and the AM/FM receiver in the early 70's.
You can only dream until it happens .............looks almost unreal and with XF Mullards as cherries on a cake........
Nice find, Terry! Congrats.
good score
Awesome score Terry! A very rare find!
Great looking shop! Nice find...Dynaco!
That's probably as rare as a bigfoot riding a unicorn.
It is a gem! Congrats!
Very nice find Terry
Nice find👍
I can't wait to see this build in Tube Amp Thee-tah!!!
That’s amazing Terry! Bet that was a little 💰💰💰 Hopefully there is a complete assembly video in the future!😉
OMG!! Unbuilt kit!
From Leo: the cool factor for that find is off the scale. I built a Dynaco PAT4 back in 1973. ran that PAT4 into a Lafayette Radio brand amplifier. Built a few Knight Kits back then too, including the Span Master regen circuit Short Wave receiver. I would have loved that Dynaco amp kit. Great job, I'll be watching for the build.
What a score.. 😳
super cool find. the dyna 70 is like the small block Chevy...tons of aftermarket parts are available, repro parts are available or just buy some new caps and build as is.
I sure am glad it was you that scored the Dynaco kit. We can all sleep at night, knowing that it WON'T end up like Moe called in sick and Curly was in charge.
Can't wait to see the finished result.
Hats off and
CHEERS!
Very nice.
The EL34 tubes will be easy to date, Mullard and parent company Philips factories used the same date/manufacture codes, will be etched on the glass. Christmas came early! Nice find.
Great video sir thanks
THAT IS A *EUREKA* FIND!
Call me jealous. I love these old Dynaco and Eico amp kits. You can make a rocking guitar amp with this.
That's a fantastic find, 😲👏✌️
nice find!
That is a sweeet find. Will you build it as intended or customize it a little bit? Say hi to your co-pilot/navigator/camera operator!
Wows! you should buy buy a lottery ticket, same odds going for you, strike the iron when it's hot!
Welp… I want those power tubes 😮
looks cool!
Hello dear Terry! I watch and enjoy every video of yours. In 2006, i'm built my own tube amplifier to listen to my favorite music. This is push-pull ECC 35 and 6V6GT, like to Avery Fisher SA-16. I have been happy for many years. But now i'm was forced to leave all this, and not only this, in the shelled area. I still hope that when I return, all this will be preserved and I will be happy again. I can see how much you love your family and friends. Take care of yourself! I'm waiting for new videos. My regards N6TLU de UR3QX Geno, 73!
OH MAN ! WHAT A FOUND .... ITS GOLD ! you remind me when I found an UNOPEN dynaco pat 4 kit ... its built now ....and what a music !
That is so cool man!
Great find! I realized watching the video that this resale shop is near where I work. I stopped in over lunch today, browsed the vinyl and took home a few treasures. Prices were fair and the records were clean.
Wholly buckets! This is quite a find!
I've got an old Heathkit amp from the late 60's/early 70's i still need to find time to put together. Maybe this is the push I need.
This assembly is going to rock!
Have to check out their collection of LP and 45 rpm records next time I pass by them on my way to Yesterday's Treasures Antique mall. It is a few blocks away. ( Know to have an occasional tube radio or two there) . OMG an original Dynaco
tube amp kit! Terri you lucky dog you! PS it wasn't headed for the dumpster by any means BTW. Some other person with
a " Boat Anchor Buddy app" just waited too long. Hey , finders keepers right.
I would love to find one of those!!!
Not only is it a patch on the back of Kirk's uniform, it's also the planet that Malcolm McDowell from A Clockwork Orange blew up in Star Trek: Generations... I only this moment realized that...
Can’t wait to see you build it. That is awesome! Glad it was saved!!
Suggestion Terry:
Make an electronic copy of the manual, or at the least video the paperwork of the amp for posterity sake.
Haven't seen the XYL on the channel lately, I presume she was the camera person.
Love it❤
Good score Terry, I'm 60yrs old I hope someone finds me in a thrift store. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Should be an interesting build.
Couldn't go to a better home 👍
Wow! I see why you drove so far. That's quite a find!
Man, they don't make ém like that anymore, do they Terry? looks like that one's going to be a fun build.
Nice! Can't wait to see how this turns out!
Your skills are amazing and I love learning from you.
Interesting coincidence, I just learned about and reseached Dynaco 70 amps this past week because I saw a beat up one on Facebook marketplace. I'm not as skilled as you and decided to pass on a potential restoration project. Funny that you featured an unbuilt kit on this week's video. Synchronicity, no? Thanks for sharing this adventure Terry. Looking forward to the build.
I would love to find something like that. In years way past I’ve built a Dynaco SCA-35 integrated amp, a PAT -5 preamp, AF-6 tuner, and a Stereo 120 power amp. Great stuff.
Wow! I have a Heathkit am tuner unbuilt I plan on doing someday. Not as cool as this tho.
What a find..... Totally jealous Terry.... What are the odds eh after so many years..... First order of business..... Toss those caps!!!! 😅
Nice find! Glad to see it's in good hands. Around ~2012 I scored some great vintage electronics, including an unbuilt Dynakit ST70 & unbuilt Heathkit TT-1 at an estate sale in Los Angeles. I built & used the ST70 almost immediately, but haven't found/made time to build the TT-1 yet.✌
Good luck with the Dynaco, Terry! If you need someone to build it for you for free, just let me know! 😀
You looked like a kid in the candy shoppe.
Nice find. It’s hard to believe it was unmolested. Somethings are just meant to happen though.
I don’t know why but I figured that shop might have had some vino you was searching for. 😊
It looks to be 50 years old (1973/1974) (@ 2:48). I didn't realize Dynaco was putting together tube kits as late as the early 70s!
you made epic uploading-have a great day. D-lab-
Very cool!
Wow!!!
Awesome
holy shit a pair of Mullard EL-34's legit NOS!
Renegade Resale.... not one item for sale listed on the website.Maybe that's an impossible job for the Proprietors .
The unbuilt Dynaco kit, like finding a leprechaun and his pot o'gold
Thanks! Terry
You are too lucky!!
Will you build it stock Terry? I know there are popular mods around nowadays, but I hope you build it as original as the parts allow you! Fascinating find. Looking forward to part 2.
Wow -
sweet
Wow !👍👍
OOOOOO Way COOL!!!!!!
I hope you replicate that amp and put them up for sale
God, do you build it or keep it untouched?
Those tubes are probably Mullards correct?
Correct. Custom marked for Dynaco.
You found a Unicorn
Mullard EL34 ? branded as Dynaco ?
If you rocked up to Mullard and said "I want 10,000 EL34 tubes with 'Dynaco' printed on them" they'd do it. Many manufacturers both past and present will provide that service.
whaaaaaaaaaa i have a schamatic of 90 watts amp from a book from 1975...two EL34, and one ECC81. To bad can find the transformers. I dont can't order the one i need, order a costum made one bud my budget cant handel the invoice.... need from EU 230 volts 50hz... to 2 x 350 (700v), 2 x 310v (620v) and same 1x 55volts and one 6,3 volts...
Uh-oh...Star Trek references....
I can't seem to find an app called Boat Anchor buddy. Anybody?
No offense to your ability to teach but I would not ever put that kit together. I have built kits before and they were okay. Face it, there's a guy named Terry who was born to build this amp.
WOW
