One reason I love this commander is that her Goading can also become your wincon, because you can use it on your own creatures. If you go wide enough, you can just tap alot of small creatures to really pump your big threats and give them trample, or hyper pump one creature with multiple activations and make it unblockable with for example rogues passage etc.
Normally goading are in trouble when its down to a 1on1, but with her as your commander, you actually have a really strong finisher as well.

One thing nice about Kitt though is that you can goad and buff your own creatures too

Absolutely! Great if you need to give a bigger, stronger attacker trample at the "cost" of tapping down two dorks

I really like that Kitt's ability is scalable and has a real cost for scaling it up. Kardur goads everything blindly, which not only tends to annoy your opponents very quickly but can also be actively detrimental if another player is the current archenemy and everybody is now forced to either attack into his overwhelming forces or attack one another. Other goad commanders tend to do the same or goad only a single creature, relying on (often crappy) goad auras and singular goad spells.

I feel like goad goes well with deathtouch blockers because then in a 1v1 your opponents lose their creatures in bad attacks.

Especially if you also give them first strike. To prevent those really big tramplers to do damage

I think beamtown bullies did a great job implementing a goad mechanic. Not only are you looking to screw an opponent over with a terrible creature, the goaded creature is forced to die so it doesn't linger around for lategame. I think that was a good implementation of the mechanic even though it is a secondary function from the bullies main ability.

Masako the Humorless is a neat trick as well, to block with tapped creatures

My strategy is to assemble a combo piece to finish off the final player in a goad deck.
    Liliana’s Contract and Harmless Offering
Or my favourite flavor win; give my opponent Villis Broker of Blood with an Underworld Dreams like effect on the field. Death by unlimited power.

If your making a lot of wimps than a powerhouse card for discouraging attacks is "Heat Stroke"; it kills any creature that blocks or is blocked. Sandworm convergence, assemble the legion, eiganjo uprising, crescendo of war, intangible virtue, arachnogenesis, and unbreakable formation are good adds if thats the path you take.

I think viewing goad as a group hug sort of ability is a sort of trap. I find it performs best when you try to use it as pseudo removal, and it removes blockers well. Smacking your opponents and making them make bad choices is just the icing on top.

I use it to tap potential blockers. Especially in combat matters decks like Xenagos or Alana/Halena Partners.

I honestly love the keyword Goad- Especially with Kros, Defense Contractor. You can build around his secondary ability- Whenever I put a counter on a creature I don't control, tap it and it is goaded until my next turn.
Kros is perfect for a Bant pillowfort deck. I made it IRL

I've always avoided goad because I have a hard time remembering what I've goaded lol I want to build around it and it seems like it will borrow ideas like my old Thantis deck so thank you for inspiring me to stop avoiding it and become enraged. rawr

Also, on the main topic of the video: I don't actually agree that goad does "nothing" in a 1v1. Forcing enemy utility creatures and tribal lords to attack (or at least to be tapped during the opponent's turn before combat) is not much, but it can still potentially be better than nothing.

the rest of the precon already has go-wide token strategy to finish off. You don't need to obsess over goading so much or you'll definitively run into this problem.

    yes.
heh. After a few minutes into the video I now understand the title better. I thought you were saying 'is goad a problem'....which is it. It's a poorly contrived mechanic that disrupts aggro strategies (arguably the weakest of the strategies) even more. Now control and combo are even more powerful.

You can threat a creature give it trample with Kitt Kanto, and it remains goaded for their turn too

What I like about goad is that it let's you spend the first part of the game less bothered than your opponents. If you're the only person who isn't wasting resources being goaded, you should be using that time to prep your end game. Goad is basically your defense until you have only one opponent left, at which point you should be fresh and ready to take the win.

I've honestly never given goad much thought as it's not really an ability I see myself building around at any point, just seems like too much work for not enough payoff at any point

im allot more preferable to karazikar as a goad commander myself and haven't really had allot of issues closing out a 1v1 in that deck also kardur isnt technically goading even if its worded the exact same mechanical;ly which means he doesn't work with cards that care about goaded creatures such as vengeful ancestor

I want to make a goad deck so bad right now, my play group is dominated by stompy Dino’s and merfolk. I would like to capitalize on their big creatures muahahahaha

I have seen more and more goad decks showing up, and started counterpicking my Obeka deck when they are on the table. No thanks I'll end my turn after the first Main.
