    Travel vlog 541 // Tbilisi, Georgia // Country #78 // Our first day here was awesome! The biggest highlight was visiting this old museum, which turned out to be an tour from this ex-communist leader to Stalin’s old secret underground printing press for propaganda! He didn’t speak much English, but he showed us a ton of crazy stuff and took us to the secret spot! The rest of the blog includes us re-introducing our great friend Charlie, visitING a huge local market, and hiking to the top of a mountain to watch the sunset from an old fortress :)

    Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” and taking more trips together and finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and travel hacking over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this UA-cam channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling. So we extended our 1 year trip to THREE years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

    4:40 That old man was asking you to donate money to the Communist Party of Georgia. 5:05 He was showing a photo of the party leader, and said that he himself is a party secretary. I had no idea that communists still own that museum.
    Update: Turns out, that the museum is officially owned by National Library of Georgia, but the Communist Party has hijacked the building illegally, and they refuse to leave; and there is an ongoing legal dispute.

    You have seen a piece of history that few people outside of the former USSR have ever seen. It is the historical equivalent of visiting George Washington's, Abraham Lincoln's birthplaces, the Liberty Bell, the Statue of Liberty, & Faneuil Hall, Boston all in one. How many vloggers can make that boast?

      @@ErmakBrovar How can you tell? It's not that I doubt you, it's just that this guy went to a lot of trouble to move an entire printing press down a well and he doesn't seem to be making a lot of money off of this scam. Yes, it could be that he had help, nonetheless, it is interesting to see the press especially for one that seems to use the rotogravure print process circa late 19th Century.

As for Georgia after Soviet Union, it has come a long way and is doing pretty good, considering how unlucky we are for sharing our border with imperialistic Russia that to this day keeps moving the border south, kidnaps and tortures people living close to the borders and on top of that keeps insisting that their occupation is justified.

    • @vixvixv4585
      @vixvixv4585 5 років тому

      You are very wrong . Thats how u read it because ur common sense is adapted to modern reality(when we hear alot stories about groping etc.) and making it obvious to think like that in similar situation . But in this case its wrong since you dont know much about those people they grew up lived in USSR. I am sure that this crazy comminist in that video had nothing like that in his mind . There was even saying that there was no sex in Soviet Union, well atleast mentally, Those kind of people was not thinking about sex .. hard to believe ? your choice. He probably thought that u was going to ruin something there or get harmed. Also , u was not provocatively dressed or something, especially compared to what u can see in the streets for his mind to go crazier, also there was 2 guy with you. So I am pretty sure he had nothing like that in mind , he was just happy u seemed interested in his rusty stories. Also its orthodox Georgia and not some eastern or even western countries where such stories become common. But tbh better be careful then sorry!

    Love Georgia. I went there around this time last year. You will not regret your food tour! Khachapuri is the best thing since sliced bread. :-p Make sure to head down to Kakheti- Georgia's wine region. Harvest time should around its end by now but even if its over it's a great experience in that area. Fun fact, Georgia is meant to be where wine was first cultivated- so you'll see the oldest vineyards in the world. I've tried some of the best wine I've ever had in that country. Just be careful with the chacha. It's basically the Georgian version of moonshine but made of grapes. If someone offers you it don't say no, but don't overdo it! Also if you want to go to the sulphur baths in the old town make sure to go to the new one in the converted persian mosque- you'll know it when you see it. Get a treatment too, it'll be an adventure (which I mean in a hilarious way, not a dirty way)!!! ;-) I wish for comedy's sake I had taken a video when me and my friend did it. Finally, driving there is crazy! Please do not rent a car, hire a driver or something. Enjoy!

    Such a great episode of the vlogg. I really liked to see when you visited the communist museum. Also it was a long time since we could see Kara climb a mountain/hill. Sorry Kara but it's really nice to see your mood swings when you are hungry. Also the posing at the statue was great and Charlie trying to do an american complaining. Maybe Kara should try to speak aussie English sometimes cause she is good at listening in and would probably do it well. By the way the music in the beginning of this episode of the vlogg reminded me of Rita Oras Your song. Epedemic sound rocks even though I liked your music in the early days of the vlogg (for example when traveling). Thank you for all the good work Kara and Nate.
