Oh, this was a fun one to write. (Actually, they all are.) As the years go by, I become closer to Lady Catherine's age . . . or, wait. I'm older than she is! Yikes! You've got to Kiss the Girl was written for an anthology collection, so I had to hold down the length. Thanks for listeniing, Janet.
Oh this was so different Laura, and very enjoyable. Lady Catherine as a schemer but not an effective one. I loved the way Darcy as ‘Galahad’ led Elizabeth to peace by reciting Psalm 23. So heartwarming. And I love Elizabeth’s apology.. The narrator is so expressive.
Deanna, these are the things I like in a book. It's tough to come up with a villain other than Wickham -- and comic relief other than annoying Lydia. 😀
Thanks for listening, Karen. And what a refreshingly lovely response! Listeners at, say, Audible are eager for the longest possible audiobook -- because they want to get the biggest listening "bang" from their one monthly credit. I should have a new novella-length story here for you by this evening -- I hope. 😄
Loved it, loved it, as you have us all used to. Such a funny, entertaining story. I definitely didn't see this one coming but our beloved characters never disappoint ❤❤
Thanks for making time to listen, Pluscelamemechose, on the very first day. This fun story had been hiding inside one of our anthology collections, and I am delighted to offer it here. I will be releasing it as a paperback at Amazon -- in a few weeks -- and then at a wide variety of audiobook outlets, including Audible.
It is always odd to me that Darcy pays his solo visit to Elizabeth with a proposal while she feels unwell. In this story, the author provides a good reason of why.😂😂😅
In the book by Jane Austin Elizabeth had just been told that her sister Jane had been deliberately kept apart from Bingley by Darcy. Colonal Fitzwilliam told her. D'Arcy had no idea she knew and how furious she was with him. This version is nothing like the book written in 1813! A complete fabrication.
Hi, Barb, This one has been hiding away in one of our anthologies, and I've been unable to release it as a separate eBook because it's enrolled in Kindle Unlimited. Aha, but audiobooks do not have that limitation. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Our Lady Catherine thinks she can get away with just anything. I had way too much fun with her in this one. Next up for August will be another anthology novella, "Sir Walter Takes a Wife." Lady Catherine is in this one too.
That was hilarious, stade, sensible Darcy turning into a machiavellian monster! Lady Catherine out gunned and out witted. Poor lady Anne still on the shelf and possibly dying of sun stroke after being forced to sit in the rose garden for a full half hour by her cruel mother. I wonder if Charlotte Collins and her silly husband swallowed the lies Lady Catherine concocted. This was my second of your brilliant retellings and I'm hooked 🤗😘
Thank you for sharing this great story here with us. I really enjoyed it ❤. I certainly will listen to it again. And I now definitely need to buy the book 😉
I'm glad you enjoyed Kiss The Girl, Melanie. Ruth Redman did a marvelous job with narration. A Very Austen Romance (which is enrolled in Kindle Unlimited) has this novella and others by my writing friends.
I'm working on it. Hooray for summer break, which is when I take off the Teacher hat and put on the Writer hat. I'd never done a story with an abduction, so figuring that out was rather fun.
Sqwuid, in this one, Lady Catherine de Bourgh gets served with her own sauce. It's delightfully fun. Ruth Redman, the narrator, outdoes herself with voicing our favorite "bossyboots." Enjoy!
Does anyone know what is the order of these novels and novellas? I just listened to “Sr Walter” in which the Lady K.DB married him, but in this one-she is not😕 So which book is #1 and which is the last one? Please anyone?🙏🏻 Thank you 😊
Thanks for asking, MamaDoesIt. These are variations, meaning that they are independent retellings with the same characters. There is no order. It's confusing, I know. You are not alone in wondering. Variations are common in the Jane Austen genre. UA-cam reaches beyond that. Thanks for giving my books a listen! 🌻
I began by writing fan fiction . . . and Darcy and Elizabeth stories sell well. That's a big reason why you see so many authors -- even established authors -- tossing their hat into this ring. 😄 You all here on UA-cam are giving me confidence to branch out with Regency romance. Thank you for that! ❤ Back to add this: There are plenty of readers who say they read only Darcy and Elizabeth romances.
"I wish this story was longer" is something I hear from readers, Lllowkee. I'm glad you enjoyed most of it. 😄 The drawback of a novella -- this one was written for a multi-author anthology collection -- is the shorter length. Thanks for listening!
👏👏👏absolute gem! Another of your fabulous tales to be added to my purchase list! And I've learnt a new word( once I look it up in a minute)... Termagent. Lol❤🌟
The story and narration were very enjoyable. All our favorite characters were perfectly represented. I loved how it all pulled together at the end.
I loved the ending too, Lynn. Such fun. Thanks for listening!
Great story with great narration is true entertainment!

🎉 I enjoyed this story immensely. There was so much humour and only a little angst.
Deanna, these are the things I like in a book. It's tough to come up with a villain other than Wickham -- and comic relief other than annoying Lydia. 😀
Loved this story. Short and clever tale. Great narration too. Thank you so much for gifting your audio books here on UA-cam.
You are very welcome. Ruth Redman did a lovely job voicing this story. Thanks for listening, Michelle!
Lovely short story with a "perfectly proper" ending. Thank you for these shorter listens!

I love the novella.
Short attention span.
Loved it, loved it, as you have us all used to. Such a funny, entertaining story. I definitely didn't see this one coming but our beloved characters never disappoint ❤❤
That's it, Aby. All credit to Jane Austen, who created so many wonderful people. ❤
And we can never get enough of them!!!
The opening line 😂
Chef's kiss ❤
Isn't it a stunner? I tried several versions, and then out of the blue -- like a thunderclap -- that line hit me. I blame Jane Austen! 😀
About halfway through, and it's great.
Thanks for making time to listen, Pluscelamemechose, on the very first day.

Desperation drives guys to do awkward things! 😄I'm glad you enjoyed the story, SY L. Thanks for listening.

@@lizrivers4422 - All fiction is fabrication. The author wrote her own fabrication in a stand alone novella.
This was amazing! And so fun! I couldn't stop smiling while listening to it! Thanks for sharing it!
We need all the smiles we can get, don't we, Jane? Thanks for the encouragement.
Another winner. Laugh out loud funny. Poor Lady Catherine. How did she think she would get away with it?

Hi, Jane,
This one was such fun to write! I love your use of "out gunned" to refer to Lady Catherine. ☺Thanks for listening.
Collins probably believed it, but Charlotte would probably not believe her story.
I totally loved this variation on the story of Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy's courtship/ marriage! Great plot twists and fun! ❤👏😁
Fawn, this was a hoot to write. Thanks for listening!
This was thoroughly entertaining and I enjoyed the humour. Thankyou
I will definitely hear more 😊
Deb, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for listening! Time is a precious investment. 🌻
That was great. More of that please.
I'm working on it. Hooray for summer break, which is when I take off the Teacher hat and put on the Writer hat. I'd never done a story with an abduction, so figuring that out was rather fun.
My first “variation “ audio listen. Sufficiently entertaining!
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Time is a precious commodity, and I appreciate that you spent some of yours listening to my audiobook. 🌹
Another great book to be listened to!
Sqwuid, in this one, Lady Catherine de Bourgh gets served with her own sauce. It's delightfully fun.
Ruth Redman, the narrator, outdoes herself with voicing our favorite "bossyboots." Enjoy!
Original and entertaining story and the NARRATOR 😮😮😮 Wonderful!! Thank you!
Oh, I agree. Ruth Redman did a wonderful bringing this story to life.
A very enjoyable listen!
Thanks, Stephanie. Ruth Redman did a wonderful job with narration.
Well played, BRAVO!
Ladia, I'm so glad you enjoyed this story. It's been hiding away in one of our anthologies. :D
Thank you another amazing book from you
My pleasure, Marta. Happy listening!
Excellent…fun! ❤️📖📖❤️
So creative & love the audio accent ... thank you Ms. Hile❤
Thanks for listening, Barb. This is such a fun story, and Ruth Redman brings it to life. ❤
I’m sure Charlotte wouldn’t have swallowed what Lady Catherine told her.
Wonderful
Didn't it turn out well? I'm so happy to know you enjoyed Kiss the Girl, Beautiful. Thanks for listening.
@@LauraHileAudiobooks I listened 3 times before I replied..I really enjoyed it or I have OCD..🤣
@@ABeautfulMess A re-listen (or reread) is the highest compliment. Thank you!
Lovely!
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for listening!🌻
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I will purchase
Lisa, thank you! That's very kind.
Sweet story.

Just asking. Do you use Darcy and Elizabeth because you can't think of any other characters or is there another reason for using them all the time?
I began by writing fan fiction . . . and Darcy and Elizabeth stories sell well. That's a big reason why you see so many authors -- even established authors -- tossing their hat into this ring. 😄
You all here on UA-cam are giving me confidence to branch out with Regency romance. Thank you for that! ❤

I enjoyed this very much but was disappointed at the end. It seemed unfinished.

Looked it up .superb! 🤣🤣🤣
Hi, Veronica!
You're very kind. Thanks for listening. 🌻
I first stumbled upon this term in a Georgette Heyer Regency novel. And yes, like you, I had to look it up. 😁
Elizabeth was not a beauty.
Know her personally then, do ya?
